Yes I used this company recently. Wanted to hire a jeep. The hire for 6 days was €120 approx. To that they added €45 for half a tank of fuel which would cost you €20 at a local service station. I have to say however this ploy is fairly common for budget car hire in Spain and Portugal . They say it's the admin and labour cost of fuelling the car. So if you do hire a budget car expect to pay double for the fuel.

The car pick up , once I managed to track the contact person down at Luca airport was fairly easy. He sits in the coffee shop opposite the exit form baggage pick up.

The car however was poor. Ok it is a jeep, a local cheap version a bit like a Suzuki Jimny. The cake however would not have passed a UK MOT. The indicators did not work, probably an earth fault as the relay worked at double speed....I could hearing it making 80-100 times / min. In addition the drivers seat belt would stick and the drivers door would jam. Neither of which would be good in an emergency.

The wipers were less than useless in the rain.......of which there was lots one day.....all I could do was park up and wait for the rain to stop. Suspension.....was challenging on Maltas very poor local roads. . Exhaust had more holes than Swiss cheese. BUT it was cheap to hire.

They offer you additional insurance when you sign the contact €55 for the 6 days to reduce rage excess. I declined therefore the excess was €1500...something to do with bad roads on Gozo....potential damage to the vehicle. Honestly the jeep wasn't worth €1500.

When I got back Maltafirst charged me an extra €44 for 2 traffic violations. One for changing lanes without indicating......remember what I said about the non working indicators !!, and crossing a white line on a bend........absolute rubbish. The cost of each violation was €11 to the police , Maltafirst double it for their admin. Their T&C's do say they car charge an unspecified a Admin charge.....100%!!!

So in summary , cheap hire, add on costs seem inevitable. , traffic violations seem a national sport. Good luck.

I rented several cars from other companies in Malta and this is the worst one without a doubt.
They overcharged for the fuel because they have a prepaid fuel policy. They charge 60€ for 3/4 tank of a small car! I realised it was unfair after going to a petrol station.
I also had a problem with the car battery and they charge me 20€ for solving it when I paid for the full cover!
Expensive, bad service and dishonest. Not recommended at all.

The second time i rented from Maltafirst car hire meet at the airport at auckward time 02.00am filled out paper work and was handed keys to brand new car with 10kms. They offer excellent service and i highly reccomend them.
