⭐ 1 STAR
⭐ 1 STAR – Extremely disappointing
Etihad has completely failed to resolve our confirmed family booking 7WHAYK.
We are a family of four, including two children aged 14 and 8. Our confirmed flight on 4 September 2026 was moved to 6 September, despite the original 4 September service still appearing to operate and Etihad continuing to accept bookings for that date.
I have contacted Etihad repeatedly, spoken to multiple customer-service representatives and received different case references, yet no one has resolved the issue or provided a satisfactory explanation.
If the original flight is operating and seats are being sold to new customers, why can't our confirmed family booking be reinstated?
This has caused unnecessary stress and disruption. Etihad needs to explain what happened and have senior management urgently resolve this.
Very poor customer service. I cannot recommend Etihad based on this experience.

Schade

My luggage was damaged and I'm applying for compensation. But it's very difficult to get in touch with the customer service. I've tried on the official website and via WhatsApp, but it's too difficult.
Paid for specific seat, forced next to the toilet, zero response
I paid extra in advance for a specific seat selection. Upon boarding, my seat was arbitrarily changed without prior notice or explanation. Staff simply scribbled "Seat Change" on my boarding pass and placed me in a terrible seat right next to the lavatories.
Ground staff refused to offer any on-the-spot solution and brushed it off with "just file a complaint online." months later and after multiple attempts, I have received absolute silence. Charging customers for a specific service, failing to deliver it, and then completely ignoring legitimate refund requests is unacceptable (PNR: 9MX6G2).
Avoid this airline like the plague. Customer care is completely non-existent—they do not care about their passengers at all, only about taking your money.

I thought there were good but i guess that was before...now they reach a lot of destinations but their service is crap now for the price (gva Asia around 1000 euros). Low cost in Asia (air asia x- long distance) is better...lors of little things that matter, the worst is checking in online (beeing the first) lots of seats available but, as a family!!! Tu hey dispatched us! To make more money, never seen that before. The 787-9 has the seats too near, a pain in the butt and i am a thon person and my neighbours were average size...good is ok but not picked up for over un hours?! , flight changes to loose another hour, the late etc etc etc..too many things not ok for such a powerful company. And i heard customer service is nasty!

Absolutely outrageous baggage policy…
Absolutely outrageous baggage policy from Etihad
I am genuinely appalled by Etihad’s new baggage policy.
We have spent around £3,000 on flights for a family of five, only to discover after booking that we cannot simply purchase a normal 20kg checked bag!!!
Online, I am being quoted around £65 for just 5kg, ONE WAY as overweight/extra luggage option. That means approximately £130 return for only 5kg of checked baggage. For a completely normal 20kg suitcase, the cost becomes absolutely absurd.
I am not trying to take an overweight suitcase or exceed a standard baggage allowance. I simply want to purchase a normal checked bag for an international long-haul journey. Why is there no straightforward option to pay a reasonable fixed price for a 20kg suitcase?
What makes this even more infuriating is that this was not made sufficiently clear when we booked the flights. Had I understood that selecting this fare meant not only that checked baggage wasn’t included, but that I also wouldn’t be able to subsequently purchase a normal 20kg checked bag at a reasonable fixed price, it would absolutely have affected my decision to book with Etihad.
I have no issue with airlines selling cheaper fares without checked baggage included. What I find completely unreasonable is charging passengers around £65 per 5kg, per direction, meaning a family could potentially pay hundreds of pounds simply to take an ordinary suitcase on holiday.
For a family of five already paying approximately £3,000 for the flights, this feels excessive and incredibly poor value.
Etihad needs to make this policy far more prominent before customers pay, including clearly showing what adding a typical checked suitcase will actually cost for the return journey.
I expected considerably better from Etihad. This baggage policy is ridiculous, and it has seriously changed my opinion of the airline before we’ve even travelled.

Never again. Avoid at all costs
Etihad case: 2607085978484
From Australia to Ireland, they used another company for the first connection , Batik Airlines Malaysia, even when I paid in full the ticket to Etihad Airways.
A 6 hours dealy on that connection made arrived 12 hours later to my destination.
Every time I called Etihad I got an "that is a Batik Airlines problem, not ours" so I had to fix it myself.
I put the reclamation, case 2607085978484.
Their answer?
"We are sorry that your flight was not on time.[...]We hope to welcome you on another Etihad Airways flight soon."
Unbelievable. Never again.
very bad from A to Z
I tried to give this feedback directly to Etihad before posting it publicly, but unfortunately I have been unable to do so.
Every route I have found eventually sends me back to the same feedback form, which requires my booking reference/PNR. For reasons I don't understand, the system does not recognise my booking details, despite them being the details from my Etihad booking. So after several attempts, I am sharing my experience here instead.
This was my first flight with Etihad. I have high status with Emirates and flydubai and specifically wanted to try Etihad to see whether I should move more of my future travel to the airline.
We bought Comfort fares rather than Lite, paid for priority and seat selection, and even tried to purchase an upgrade and block an additional seat.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from beginning to end.
At boarding, we were required to check two small hand-luggage bags weighing approximately 4 kg and 5 kg. I explained that they contained medicine and that it was important for us to keep them with us, but we were still required to check them. I have photographs of the bags if Etihad would like to review what happened.
Then came a delay of more than four hours.
I completely understand that Etihad cannot control a labour dispute at Tel Aviv airport. My concern is not that the flight was delayed, but how the disruption was communicated and managed.
Our first indication that something was wrong was an unexpected email containing a food voucher, without a clear explanation of what was happening.
Later, passengers were told there was a "strike against the airport in Tel Aviv." Given the situation in the region, this wording understandably caused confusion until it became clear that this referred to a labour strike.
After leaving the gate area, there was very little reliable information. The airport screens continued showing the original departure information and "Go to Gate", so our only practical option was to return to the gate repeatedly to ask whether there was an update.
We eventually departed at approximately 19:28, more than four hours late.
When boarding finally took place, the priority service we had paid for also appeared to make little practical difference, with passengers queuing together rather than an obvious priority process.
I came to Etihad with genuinely high expectations and with the intention of potentially moving a significant amount of my future travel to the airline. Unfortunately, my first experience did not give me a reason to do that.
I am not looking for compensation. I simply wanted Etihad to know why this first experience was so disappointing — and I would have preferred to provide this feedback directly rather than on social media.
If someone from Etihad Customer Relations sees this, I would appreciate a working way to submit the full details of my experience.
From the business lounge to the flight…
From the business lounge to the flight and the crew itself. It was excellent. I’m happy I chose to fly with Etihad again
DO NOT FLY ETIHAD
DO NOT FLY ETIHAD. TAKE ANY OTHER OPTION.
I have visited nearly 40 countries, and never has the appalling behaviour of an airline and its staff made me physically put off visiting an entire country until now. If you are considering booking with Etihad, take literally any other option available. No amount of money you save is worth the sheer panic, trauma, and utter incompetence they will subject you to.
After booking a manageable connection from Nairobi to Heathrow via Abu Dhabi, we were phoned right before flying with zero context and forced to approve a reckless 45 minute layover. Etihad’s representative blatantly lied on the phone, assuring us it was enough time.
Upon landing in Abu Dhabi, it was complete operational chaos. No staff knew where our gate was, and the rude, useless employees actively pointed us in the wrong direction while shouting at us to "hurry up" as we frantically ran past them in absolute panic, knowing we had 15 minutes left. We were even forced to pay an extra £33 just to sit at the front of the plane simply to survive Etihad's own scheduling stupidity.
The ONLY reason we caught our connection was because a compassionate passenger with a family buggy let us jump on. It was an act of human kindness from a stranger, not a single shred of effort from this pathetic airline, that saved us from being stranded. Five other passengers we spoke to went through the exact same nightmare, with several missing their flights and stuck for days.
Twice now I have flown Etihad, and twice I have found myself sprinting through that god-forsaken, clinically lit, materialistic cesspit of an airport because of their total failure to manage transit passengers. If a layover is 30 minutes or less, organise a buggy. IT IS NOT THAT HARD.
I will never fly Etihad again, nor will I ever set foot in Abu Dhabi. Pay the extra money and fly with Emirates, Qatar Airways, or anyone else who actually respects their passengers. Avoid this airline at all costs.
Terrible website experience after booking
Etihad’s website is unbelievably slow and regularly freezes, but this time it has gone too far. I booked my flights mainly because they advertised a complimentary two-night Abu Dhabi stopover. After paying over £2,500, the stopover booking page will not work—it freezes behind a grey screen every time.
I have tried different browsers, Incognito mode and multiple devices, but the result is always the same. Something as important as confirming a hotel should not be this difficult. Now I am left stressed and uncertain about whether my family’s accommodation is secured.
A major international airline should have a reliable website, especially when customers are spending thousands of pounds. Etihad needs to fix this urgently and provide proper assistance instead of making customers chase an advertised benefit after booking.
Reality of Etihad
This is the most unreliable airline in the world. Complete incompetent people.
Flights are cancelled, rescheduled ALL THE TIME. The consequences are always entirely your problem. No one cares whether you missed your flight, whether the hotel the allocated you got cancelled, whether you have a layover of least 15 hours instead of 2 hours.
Incompetence at its best. Worst of all, one pays premium prices. Disgusting!
If you need special assistance, use another airline
I was so disappointed with my experience with this airline. I am a special assistance passenger and had to argue the right for special assistance the whole way to Bangkok from Dublin. And then I had to argue my right to special assistance whilst on the phone trying to book seats in Vietnam and then again from Hanoi to Manchester. The connecting airport was Abu Dhabi and on my outgoing and incoming flight both times I was forced to walk and unnecessary distance to where I was told special assistance would be waiting and when I got there identified myself and then was told to sit down and wait. On my fly out, I had to argue argue argue that my connection was a short one they refused to listen to me and eventually when I had it really get upset to get people to listen to me they realise there was only half an hour to my connection. Arrange a wheelchair and ran me across the airport. The staff were dismissive they were rude. They were argumentative and it made me feel very isolated and very vulnerable. On my return I contacted Etihad to arrange specialist seats and spent over 20 minutes arguing with the customer service agent and reading it out etihads policy to her which she refused acknowledge. Eventually, after much perseverance, she agrees to give me special assistance status. I have a degenerative genetic disorder that I will never get better from. I will only get worse. On my return flight the flight from Hanoi to Abu Dhabi I had an issue with the member of the cabin staff who refused to let me out of my seat. When I need to use the toilet, she was approached by another member of staff that asked to move a trolley and she refused I unfortunately then wet myself. This resulted in me sat in my seat crying. I was very very upset and very embarrassed. Manager of the cabin crew came over to me and asked me what had happened. I explained I pointed out the gentleman which you tried to help me. She apologise profusely and arrange for me to have some pyjamas from the business class Area. My point was to the Manager that I asked her three times and she tried to redirect me to another toilet further down the aircraft which had a long queue I explained that was a special assistance passenger and having problems with my bladder is part of my condition but she still refused to move the drinks trolley that was at the end of my row. Despite another member of staff asking her (a member of staff that she’s been arguing with since she boarded the aircraft) she still refused. When I get to my connected airport again, which is Abu Dhabi and there is no special assistance arranged again. I was with my son he spoke to the cabin crew about it. We were told at the same story that I was told that they would be on the outside of the aircraft, we asked the gentleman who was in the air tunnel and he directed us to the top of the stairs exactly the same as my outgoing flight. This is quite a lengthy walk we get to the top of the stairs we informed the gentleman that I’m a special assistance passenger and he says I have to stand and wait. My condition affects my heart and I was experiencing blood pressure of 88/54 with a pulse of 181 beats a minute and I was feeling very unwell. There was nowhere for me to sit down and the staff were just as soulless as they were on my departing flight and didn’t care and didn’t do anything to arrange a wheelchair. My son and I waited for over 25 minutes but by this point I was feeling extremely well and I could no longer stand. I was crying. I was having chest pain. I was breathless wearing pyjamas because a member of staff wouldn’t move for me on my previous flight. My son (who’s 20) eventually got so annoyed that he walked off to find somebody who could help me. He came back maybe 10 minutes later with a wheelchair and a gentleman who never apologised or acknowledged what had happened. And then went on my own flight to Manchester. When it came home, I made a complaint about my outgoing flight to Bangkok and they offered me some Etihad emails which I refused so rather than reply to the emails I sent them they keep sending me the same generic email over and over again. They are trying to victim blame me by saying that I didn’t identify myself at my connecting airport, I completely rebuke this as I had dislocated my knee in Dublin and was hobbling and could barely walk and had already booked special assistance when I booked a ticket. The check-in desk at Etihad in Dublin Airport was so poor I had to argue with my special assistance status. I cannot recommend enough if you are disabled or you require a special assistance that you do not travel with this airline. Not only do they not have special assistance policies even though they will let you book special assistance every step of the way the staff will argue with you that it’s not booked, you’re not entitled to it, there’s nothing wrong with you, or just ignore you.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH ETIHAD AIRWAYS
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH ETIHAD AIRWAYS
Etihad changed the 13-hour journey from Trivandrum to Barcelona that I originally purchased and moved me to an itinerary with an 8-hour layover in Abu Dhabi, turning my journey into approximately 21 hours.
What I find extremely unfair is that Etihad continued selling the same shorter itinerary that I had originally purchased on its website, but at a much higher price, while I was forced to accept a much longer journey.
I booked my tickets many months in advance precisely because I wanted the shorter 13-hour journey with a short connection in Abu Dhabi. Now I have to travel for around 21 hours with my minor daughter because of changes made by Etihad, not by me.
I have spent weeks contacting Customer Service and submitting complaints, but I still have no real solution.
Unfortunately, this has not been an isolated experience. A group travelling from Spain to Kerala with Etihad also experienced serious problems: flight delays caused them to miss their connection and arrive much later than planned, forcing changes to the entire travel schedule and hotel cancellations. On top of that, their luggage arrived three days later.
After more than 25 years of travelling, this has been one of my worst customer service experiences.
I have already contacted Etihad Customer Service and submitted formal complaints. I am now making my experience public because I want Etihad to review my case, take responsibility for the changes it made and provide a real solution.
Very unfair. Very disappointing. I am still waiting for Etihad to take responsibility and solve this situation.

My best friend and I booked Business…
My best friend and I booked Business Class with Etihad. I had previously flown Emirates Business Class, but this was my first time trying Etihad, so I genuinely wanted to give it a chance.
Honestly, I was shocked.
The interior itself felt disappointing for the amount of money we paid, but that was not even the biggest problem. The real issue was how we were treated when things went wrong.
My seat was by the window, and the cabin door was locked in a position that made me extremely uncomfortable. The passenger next to me could easily look directly into my cabin. I asked to speak to the manager because I wanted the door adjusted.
His response was unbelievable. He told me that he thought it was good for the door to remain locked because otherwise I might feel claustrophobic.
But **I was the one sitting in that seat—not him.** Whether I felt claustrophobic was not the issue. I was uncomfortable because I had no privacy and the passenger next to me could literally look into my cabin. Instead of listening to what I was saying, he dismissed my concern based on what *he* thought I should feel.
And the story did not end there.
My best friend's seat would not extend into a bed because it was jammed. The crew member initially told her that there was nothing they could do and that she would simply have to sit in the Business Class seat.
Imagine paying for Business Class, including a seat that is supposed to convert into a bed, only to be told, essentially, **“Sorry, you just have to sit there.”**
We asked her to speak to the manager. After waiting for hours, she finally came back and said that my friend could take one of the crew seats.
A **crew seat**.
This was the solution offered to someone who had paid a significant amount of money for a Business Class experience.
What made everything even worse was the complete lack of communication, explanation, concern, or genuine apology. Nobody came to properly explain the situation to us. We were left sitting there as if we did not exist and as if the experience we had paid for simply did not matter.
I have travelled in premium cabins before, but I have never experienced anything like this. The dismissive attitude, the lack of empathy, and the way our concerns were handled were deeply upsetting. I also could not ignore the feeling that there was an element of bias and bigotry in the way we were treated.
When you charge premium prices, passengers expect more than a fancy label and a larger seat. We expect functioning equipment, privacy, professionalism, communication, respect, and basic human decency when something goes wrong.
This was, without question, one of the most disappointing Business Class experiences I have ever had.
Etihad Airways- this is not the level of service I expected when I decided to give your Business Class a chance.
