Carnival Panorama - Never Again !!!
Our family booked a Carnival Panorama cruise from September 26, 2026 through October 4, 2026. The cruise was originally sold with four scheduled ports: Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, La Paz, and Cabo San Lucas. This was supposed to be a special family trip and a celebration for my grandmother, who has cancer.
Before the cruise even left, Carnival canceled the first 2 ports. I immidiately called Carnival and requested to cancel the cruise with a full refund or reschedule it for another date. My request was declined. We had no other choice but to go on this cruise.
After that, all four scheduled ports were canceled and replaced with two visits to Ensenada and extra sea days. This was a very different cruise experience from what our family paid for.
I understand that Carnival cannot control weather. My issue here is not that bad weather happened. My complaint is that after the trip plan was changed a lot, Carnival did not give a fair or meaningful solution to passengers who no longer got the cruise experience they paid for.
My family booked 3 cabins for 8 people, and this was not cheep at all.
This was our hard earned money that we saved up for this trip.
Losing the planned ports was very upsetting and important to us. We brought up our concerns many times onboard with Guest Services and management. Carnival offered only a $300 non-refundable onboard credit per cabin, which was not a meaningful solution considering how much the trip changed and the cost of the trip.
We asked for a fair solution, such as a large partial refund, a large future cruise/rebooking credit, or another fair remedy showing how different the cruise we got was from the cruise we bought. Carnival refused to provide any meaningful help.
I am asking BBB to help get a fair solution from Carnival. I am requesting either a large partial refund, a large rebooking credit, or another fair remedy because the cruise we got was very different from the cruise we purchased.
The way 4000 passengers were treated onboard this ship was unfair and unjust, and I would not wish for anyone to go through this
Carnival cruise Paradise ~ ugh.
On the Carnival cruise Paradise, we asked for a king bed. Instead we received two twin beds shoved together. The buffet food was cold, tasted poorly, and of poor quality as my and my girlfriend's stomach was messed up the whole time. The drinks were all super weak. There was not much for entertainment. They tried to charge us over $200 in tips without asking. I checked my charges and saw them on there and got them removed. Felt sneaky of them to just charge and not say anything, especially when there is a spot to select pre-paid gratuities (which I did not select). The two hottubs on the Lido deck were luke-warm to cool, and while the hottub for adults only was warmer, it was only marginally so. They actually refuse cash which is inconvenient.
The staff however were incredible. Everyone was very nice, welcoming, and clearly went above and beyond working 12 hour + days. There were staff up scrubbing the Lido deck at 12:30am... give them more money and more breaks.
NEVER BOOK CARNIVAL
First off the beds were SUPER hard and uncomfortable this was my first cruise ever and expected the beds to be at least a little comfy like at hotels. Nope think again it's was like sleeping on concrete for 6 days! Secondly, the cabin flooded and they did nothing about it except put a fan on the floor to air dry it. I'm now learning from other experiences that it happens A LOT! So for half the week we had to walk around on a soaked floor. No sorry about that, no let's get you a gift card or a free meal NOTHING. Just here's a fan and that's it. So also, with that problem our luggage also got soaked with our clothes inside. Next on the list. It was an anniversary so we got a gift card for a massage for $75. Initially thought this a nice gesture until I tried to book the massage they asked if I was using a gift card and I said yes it's an anniversary gift card and they said okay well if you're going to use the gift card it's not going to be that price for the massage anymore it's going to be $40 more now. Carnival HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?! So they actually didn't give me a gift card it was a scam ( money grab) just to get you in there. Lastly we got a drug dog to check our room and he went crazy and they looked through our bags and only found my Olly's Prebiotic and probiotics; Labeled and in a case which online said I didn't have to do. It just needed to be in a clear bag not labeled if it's a vitamin. Well they found it asked me to open it which I did because I had nothing to hide and they conviscated it. They said they LOOKED like THC gummies and took them. I asked them to test it because I have bad gut issues and I need to take them on my trip or I'll get sick and they just showed me a picture and said see and didn't care about what I said and refused to test them. I couldn't eat the rest of the 5 day trip. I was nauseous and constipated the entire time. Horrible experience! I'm going to stick to resorts like I have in the past and they're going to lose out on So much money from us because my family was waiting to hear from my experience because we were going to do a whole family trip and there was going to be at least 10 of us going. DO NOT BOOK WITH CARNIVAL UNLESS YOU LIKE WASTING MONEY AND TIME.
I'm current on the carnival sunshine
I'm current on the carnival sunshine. This cruise has been a hot mess. The food is 40% edible, the wifi ain't shit, guest services didn't know how to solve any problems. The cruise director didn't know how to galvanize a group for fun. I've sailed with carnival before but this cruise has been by far my worst experience. I've never been on a cruise where I was excited for it to be over. The best thing about this cruise was my room attendant Mr Carter. I can't wait for this ship to dock in the next 12 hours. Never cruising with carnival again and that's the general consensus of my group.
Our handicap room had no couch or chair… and was freezing
Our handicap room had no couch or chair even though the room description says couch
Room was freezing for 3 days, a/ would not shut off maintenance came, 1 comfy day then roasted for 3 days, a/c would not go on. Maintenance came, and we froze again for a few days till end, would not shut off again.
We both got sick from the freezing room.
When I asked the guy at service desk why does a handicap room not have a couch, his very rude response was “maybe you should have checked the room picture before you booked it”. THE ROOM DESCRIPTION SAYS A COUCH IS IN THE ROOM!!! Room 6108
My handicapped husband had to sit on the end of the bed. Most of the food was sub par and lukewarm.
The only saving grace of the cruise was our room steward, WAYAN. He was so helpful and concerned for us. You need more like him.
Needless to say this was our 5th AND LAST cruise with Carnival.
First and Last Carnival Cruise.
Casino manager refused to payout a win from an arcade machine that is clearly rigged to not pay. The game allowed me to enter a key into a hole and the key would not turn until it exited the hole. Clearly a malfunction with the machine and the manager on duty told me to deal with it.
First and last time carnival cruiser.
We booked a 7-day Mexican Riviera and…
We booked a 7-day Mexican Riviera and we've traveled this before and years ago the quality of the food, the customers were good, this time 9/6/26-9/13/26 was disapointing the customers you travel with were rude kids were running around unattended, the teens anyway. Yes its a bargain for the price, but it was way too crowded, where people in the pool were wall to wall. The food went down in its quality, we only found one resturant were we liked, our stomachs did get upset daily. But the good thing was the ocean and the employees were so good in their service. The horrible thing is my husband caught COVID 2 days later. And he was special needs, so it wasn't a memorable experience. We won't be cruising with Carnival again.
Horrible Experience
Staff was rude, first time on cruise, made it to cozumel only to learn we had to pay to go to the beach, all workers are salesperson at all times, no one informed us about the process of uploading funds on room card to purchase drinks, 5 day cruise for nothing and 1st time out of the country, homophobic slurs, guests smoking Marijuana on the boat, just horrible,
My First Cruise been on Cruise …
My First Cruise been on Cruise Experience – Carnival Adventure 3-Day Cruise
This was my first time going on a cruise, and I travelled on Carnival Adventure for a 3-day cruise.
Overall, there were some things I really enjoyed. When boarding, passengers were directed through the casino, which I found a little unusual. The layout of the pools, restaurants and general hangout areas was nice. Our Byron Bay Suite, which was an upgrade as we were already booked in a suite, was comfortable and spacious.
The buffet food was very hit and miss. Some days the food was good, while on other days it was fairly ordinary(maybe water down food), with limited selection. One mistake my family made was not booking the 2 inclusive restaurants early enough. Because we didn’t organise this beforehand, we ended up relying on the buffet most days.
I also felt there were too many opportunities to spend extra money $$$$ onboard. There appeared to be around five restaurants that required additional payment, compared with only two included dining options plus the buffet. Some entertainment and concerts also appeared to involve additional $$$charges. It sometimes felt like there were constant upsells throughout the cruise.Heard by other passengers when was P&O had was more free inclusive options.
The staff were generally friendly, but they appeared quite burnt out. From what I understand, some cruise staff can work for around seven months straight, which may explain why there wasn’t the same level of energy and enthusiasm that I’ve seen in videos of other cruise ships.
Casino experience
The biggest concern for me was the casino.
I would strongly recommend avoid CASINO if you choose to use the slot machines. During my experience, some machines appeared to jitter or freeze while spinning, which made me uncomfortable.
I used my own cash and transferred funds between machines using my Sail & Sign card. However, after getting off the ship at the end of the cruise, I discovered that approximately $200 had been charged to my credit card.
I believe there should be a much clearer system around casino transactions. For example, if a patron’s credit card is going to be charged after using their Sail & Sign card, there should be clear confirmation of the amount, with the patron required to acknowledge or sign for the transaction in front staff member before it is processed.
I was particularly concerned because I had understood that I was playing with the funds I had personally put into the machines. Finding an additional $200 charge after leaving the ship was a very unpleasant surprise.
I can’t personally establish why the machines behaved the way they did, or whether any gambling system was deliberately manipulated, but the experience left me feeling uncomfortable and questioning the transparency of the casino system.
I have also heard about serious gambling-related incidents of death involving cruise passengers, which makes me think cruise operators need to take responsible gambling and transaction transparency very seriously.
Overall
As my first cruise experience, Carnival Adventure had some enjoyable aspects. The ship itself was comfortable, the layout was good and the suite was a highlight.
However, the inconsistent buffet, numerous additional charges$$$ feels very money hungry, lack of clarity around some expenses and particularly my casino experience have made me question whether I would choose to sail Carnival again.

⭐️⭐️ First-Time Carnival Cruiser
⭐️⭐️ First-Time Carnival Cruiser — Already Frustrated Before We Even Sail
My family and I are scheduled to cruise with Carnival in December 2026, and this will be my first Carnival cruise. Unfortunately, the planning experience alone has already left me extremely disappointed.
For starters, after paying what I consider a significant amount for this vacation, I was surprised to learn about the additional drink package costs, including having to pay extra for things like soda and certain beverages for the kids. When you’re traveling as a family, these additional charges add up quickly. I understand that cruise lines have optional packages, but as a first-time Carnival guest, I did not expect so many added expenses after already paying thousands for the trip.
My bigger issue, however, has been the customer service.
When I asked to speak directly with a manager, instead of the manager actually coming to the phone, the representative repeatedly went back and forth between me and the manager, relaying messages. If a customer specifically asks to speak with management because an issue has not been resolved, why not allow the manager to actually speak with the customer?
I also requested a TWO-WEEK payment extension because my family recently experienced a death and I am going through an extremely difficult period. Our cruise is still approximately three months away. I wasn’t asking to cancel the trip or avoid paying my balance—I simply asked for an additional two weeks. I was told they could only extend it seven days. There seemed to be absolutely no compassion or flexibility for a customer dealing with a genuine hardship.
Between the added costs, the customer service experience, the lack of flexibility and researching the older ships, planning this vacation has become more stressful than exciting.
I have cruised with MSC and had a much better overall experience, and Virgin Voyages is also looking like a better option for me going forward. A vacation should begin with excitement—not frustration months before you even step onto the ship.
I sincerely hope the actual Carnival cruise experience in December changes my opinion, because right now, based solely on the planning and customer service experience, I am already questioning whether Carnival will ever be my choice again after this trip.
Carnival, please remember that sometimes customers aren’t asking for special treatment—they’re asking for reasonable assistance, communication and a little compassion when life happens.
Not a family environment
I was very disappointed in the atmosphere on the cruise. I think people forget that you can have fun and enjoy a trip without having to lose your self respect and consideration for others. It felt like a floating "sin-fest". It was not a "family fun" ship as much as it was a party ship that allows children. The staff were mostly very friendly but some of the dining staff were not familiar with the food ingredients being served, which can pose a major issues with any food allergies. The buffet is a mad house with a "herding cattle" routine. The pool is not kid friendly, but they enjoyed the waterside. A lot of nickle and dime charges throughout the trip.
I have had to cancell my cruist on7th…
I have had to cancell my cruist on7th of november i hope to cruise with some day soon when my partner is better thank u
DO NOT BOOK A CRUISE
DO NOT BOOK A CRUISE , they are liars and lied to us, took our money and we had to ring Amex to stop payment , AFTER we paid for a balcony mini suite that confirned a queen bed and interconnecting room , we did not book that , it's been hell on earth ,some person called HAPPY in Durban Kept us on the phone for hours, if you ring sydney you hang in for hours and someone from a foreign country answers , it's shocking
Farewell
I thank you carnival cruise for the experiences I’ve had cruising with you all. Unfortunately I have to choose another cruise line after you all erased my membership status and forced me to start my rewards over. If I knew it was going to be this drastic, I would not have booked my next cruise with you all. Good luck with keeping your current members, and your popularity amongst cruise lines. Good luck, and goodbye.
Carnival is a joke
Carnival is a joke, first time using them and they've been terrible. We haven't even left yet. Not looking forward to this trip at all now. Lesson learned, need to go back to the other cruise lines.
Pick any other Cruiseline! Don't go on Carnival!
I, nor my party of 11 (3 staterooms), will EVER step for on another carnival cruise! The boat was disgusting. They charged my family of 4 for 12 drink packages. Only 3 of us used drinks beyond the included drinks. We were charged for the 3 packages that were ours, and after we left the boat got charged for 9 more drink packages. We have disputed this with Carnival for 3 months. They literally needed a picture drawn for them and accounts of where other members of our party were charged for their own packages. So, our party of 11, was charged for a total of 17 drink packages. They refunded 2, and after fighting, refunded 2 more. Then, refunded my sister (different room, different credit card, different people) for 3 of her soda packages that were correctly charged and used. After that we were told that if we wanted the rest, we would have to get a lawyer and sue them. So, we are left paying for 3 packages twice. To the tune of $720 more than we should have been charged.
If you are looking for a vacatio on a gross boat (later learned we were on the "renovated" poop cruise), mediocre food, and pay triple the cost for "extras" then Carnival Crisie Line is perfect for you.
They will let you know that losing a few customers is no big deal to them.
I will tell everyone I know to NEVER book with this cruiseline. They are crooks and very unprofessional...and not very intelligent!
I will post this everywhere I can!
WHAT TO EXPECT
I'm currently on hold with carnival for almost an hour. WTF! WHO IS THE MORON? ME OR THE SUBPAR CUSTOMER SERVICE? Trick question. I AM.. 1. TRAVELIBG WITH CARNAVAL AND 2 STAYING ON LINE THIA LONG.
EO NOT CRYISE WITH CARNAVAL .... LIKE A COMEDIAN ON THE CRUISE SAID. CARAVAL IS LIKE WAL MART ON WATER..
They charge you to access for things…
They charge you to access for things that are either closed down or unavailable most of the time. The Club closes at 2:00. All of the food stuff closes at 1:00. And at 2:00 the only place that serves things does not have any sauce or drinks just random fried shit. And there is literally nothing else available. This and the cheers drink program are the biggest scams I've ever seen. I'm stuck on a boat. It's 2:00 after your events. I can't get anything to eat or anything to drink. All of the machines are off. Not even water. Everybody I talk to says I have to wait until 6:00 a.m. you literally have me trapped on your boat. I will never come back. I will encourage all of my friends to go elsewhere. And since this is trust pilot nobody gets a shit
⭐️⭐️ Royal Caribbean set the bar… and…
⭐️⭐️ Royal Caribbean set the bar… and Carnival Jubilee didn’t even come close.
We went into this cruise genuinely excited to try Carnival. We’re a family of five, we booked a balcony suite, bought the drink packages, paid for excursions and extras, and fully intended to have an amazing vacation.
And we DID have fun—because we were together and we make our own fun. But would I spend my money on Carnival again? Absolutely not.
It started before we even got on the ship. The port was filthy, employees were yelling at guests, and several were just flat-out rude. Having cruised Royal Caribbean before, the difference in the embarkation experience was night and day.
Then we found out that neither the adult drink package nor our kids’ drink packages started until Day 2. I understand there may be regulations surrounding alcohol sales out of Texas, but there is absolutely no reason I should have to pay out of pocket for my CHILDREN’S sodas after already purchasing their drink packages.
Once onboard, it unfortunately didn’t get much better.
The pools were TINY for a ship carrying that many people and constantly overcrowded. There were lines for seemingly everything.
Our Deck 9 balcony suite was directly above the smoking area. The cigarette smoke was so strong that we could smell it inside our room, and our balcony—which we specifically paid more to have—was basically unusable much of the time. Guest Services’ solution? Give up our suite and move our family into two interior rooms on different decks. Seriously?
There was visible mold/mildew on the shower walls that I cleaned myself.
The food in both the Main Dining Room and buffet was consistently bland and lacked flavor.
Our youngest was excited about the kids’ program, only to find that much of his experience consisted of…video games. We can play video games at home.
The roller coaster broke down twice during our trip, and trying to reschedule afterward was nearly impossible.
We were charged for towels we never received.
We sent our son’s shorts to Carnival’s laundry service—and they LOST THEM.
Bar service was incredibly inconsistent. There were multiple times we stood there and were completely ignored.
The game shows were disappointing.
The WiFi frequently didn’t work, which made communicating with our kids around such a huge ship unnecessarily difficult.
And then there was Isla Tropicale. We rented a float, only to discover we had to carry it ourselves all the way to our spot. Apparently if we had spent around $450 on a cabana, they would have delivered it for us. 😂 That pretty much sums up the Carnival experience.
Because the nickel-and-diming was CONSTANT. Upgrade this. Buy that. Add this. Spend more here. By the end of the week, it felt like walking through a cruise port where everyone is trying to sell you something—except we were already on the ship and had already paid thousands of dollars to be there.
Were there good things? Absolutely. We had some wonderful crew members, laughed until we cried at the comedy shows, our kids made friends, and we made some great family memories.
But those memories happened in spite of Carnival, not because of Carnival.
And maybe that’s the biggest problem: if we hadn’t previously had such great experiences with Royal Caribbean, we might not have realized just how many things were lacking. We know what a cruise vacation CAN feel like—and this wasn’t it.
When you spend thousands of dollars on a family vacation, especially when you upgrade to a suite and purchase the packages, you shouldn’t spend the week dealing with cigarette smoke in your room, cleaning mildew yourself, chasing down missing laundry, disputing charges for things you never received, fighting unreliable WiFi, and being asked over and over to spend even more money.
Carnival Jubilee was a one-and-done for our family.
We’ll take our money—and our next family vacation—back to Royal Caribbean. 🚢✌🏼
