Shocking customer service…broken rooms too.
Booked a 30th birthday party cruise from LA to Canada and had various problems. My t&cs stated I could cancel and rebook within a certain time period, they refused to honour even though live chat confirmed twice that I was right. Refused to put on the sailing credit offer that was done at booking. Air con didnt work in the room, after 4 of the 8 days they offered another room which when we went there, maintenance were inside saying the room wasn’t safe? Food was poor, entertainment poor. Which is a shame as the first cruise was very good. Disappointing for such a special birthday. Made an official complaint, they kept promising to get back to me bit we’re now in October and I made the complaint in May. Shocking.
Hello Virgin Voyages Team!
Hello Virgin Voyages Team!
My husband and I recently sailed with Virgin Voyages, and we had such a wonderful experience! We wanted to take a moment to recognize a few crew members who really stood out to us during our trip.
Mahesh from India at Opa Hour was so kind and welcoming! We really enjoyed interacting with him and appreciated his wonderful service.
Surya at The Wake was incredibly friendly and attentive. He made our dining experience so enjoyable, and we really appreciated his hospitality!
Alex at Razzle Dazzle was also wonderful! He was so friendly and made us feel welcomed and comfortable throughout our dining experience.
Precious at the dessert bar in The Galley was especially sweet! She even remembered our names, which meant a lot to us. It was such a small gesture, but it made us feel special and showed how much she cares about the guests she serves.
We really appreciated how kind and personable each of these individuals was. It’s the people who make an experience memorable, and they definitely made our trip even better!
We would love to sail with Virgin Voyages again, and a big reason for that is the wonderful crew members we met along the way.
We hope you can pass along our appreciation to each of them! They deserve to be recognized for the great work they do.
Thank you again for such a lovely experience!
Always a great time
Unfortunately, It Didn't Live Up to the Hype!
Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with the Virgin Voyages cruise on the Scarlet Lady. 🙄 Let me start with what I did like:
1. Adults ONLY!
2. Buffet wasn't open for self-serve; they serve you which kept down germs tremendously.
3. Salad bar
4. Hammock on balcony
5. Room layout and size*
6. Soft drinks/restaurants were included*
7. Old school candy at the social club
8. Having REAL food where it's not filled with preservatives and additives.
9. Karaoke host, Torris, was amazing and the crowds were fun*
Now for whatbI disliked. I'll start with the two items I listed with asterisks first:
1. While the room, balcony, and bathroom were nice, the bed was hard as Italian marble! 😱You could feel the frame whenever you lie down. Thankfully, I was able to request an additional mattress pad which helped tremendously. Get them while they're available because it's limited. My cousin couldn't get one.
2. Even though the restaurants were included, you could barely get reservations for decent eating times. Additionally, I wasn't impressed by the food overall.😔 My best experience was at Pink Agave which is a Mexican restaurant. Lucky Lotus was my second favorite. The Wake for breakfast was more like a funeral. I heard the dinner was better. Gunbae was barely okay. Extra Virgin didn't "hit" the spot! 🤷🏾♀️ Those restaurants may have had one or two things that was good, but overall, I was waiting for a WOW factor that I never got. Whatever you do, stay away from the Test Kitchen. Whatever experiments and tests they're running, they failed!🤢🤮
3. Karaoke was a blast, but their song selection was very, very limited. I don't know if they only had access to music from the Virgin music label, but I've never seen such scarce Karaoke selections.
4. They need a new entertainment director because the shows were lackluster and the Scarlet Night red-themed event was a total bust. I could've curated something that would've been talked about for days. Anyone who attended couldn't probably give you a great 2-minute summary because it wasn't memorable. Trivia was bold. Comedy was just okay. They lacked great entertainment. I've seen livlier entertainment at a senior citizens group home. 🤦🏽♀️ Even the casino was lackluster. They just didn't have the WOW factor I expected. Although they had an arcade, and board games you could play in the social club or on the ship, they still lacked great interactive activities. The 80s party was a hit.
5. If you're not a Rock Star, which are those in the suites, be prepared to be treated like a second-class citizen. I swear if we would've drowned, they would've gave life vests to them first. It was unnerving.
As a person who has cruised many, many times on several different cruise lines, VV didn't meet my expectations. If you are a novice cruiser, VV may appear to be the most amazing cruise ever, but to seasoned cruisers, it sits low on the totem pole. I spoke with people from all over on the ship and they shared the same sentiments.
Their embarkation left a lot to be desired. If you weren't a Rock Star or disabled, it could be chaotic.
2 days before our cruise Virgin changed…
2 days before our cruise Virgin changed the ports to ports that within 2 hours of city we are cruising from all of which are driving distance from our home. They refused to provide credit options or ability to reschedule. Trying to get in contact with them via phone or chat was horrible as extremely long wait times and when you are next in queue they disconnect you.
Our entire itinerary was changed from…
Our entire itinerary was changed from an international Mexican cruise to a mostly domestic cruise, and Virgin barely did anything to make it right.
My husband and I got married just five days ago, and we were so excited to take our first cruise together for our honeymoon. We booked the Brilliant Lady departing from Los Angeles this Saturday specifically to visit Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta. Just two days before departure, Virgin announced that the itinerary was changing due to a hurricane. While we completely understand that weather and safety concerns can require itinerary changes, the new destinations are Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Encinitas.
We booked and spent thousands of dollars on what was supposed to be an international honeymoon in Mexico. Instead, we are now taking a cruise to places we live near, work in, and have visited hundreds of times. This is not the vacation we planned or paid for, and with departure just days away, we have very few options.
The compensation offered for such a significant change is only $100 in nonrefundable Sailor Loot that can be spent exclusively onboard, along with a small credit toward a future cruise. The problem is that our food is already included in the fare, we prepaid for a large drink package, and even the cheapest massage costs over $200. The credit essentially requires us to spend even more of our own money to use it.
When I contacted customer service, I was told there was nothing more they could do and that no additional compensation would be provided. There are no refunds, leaving us stuck spending thousands of dollars on a honeymoon that is completely different from the one we booked.
We understand that hurricanes are unpredictable, and we would never expect a cruise line to compromise passenger safety. However, we expected Virgin to recognize the magnitude of this change and make a reasonable effort to accommodate its guests. A honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and this experience has been incredibly disappointing.
Based on how this situation has been handled, I would hesitate to recommend Virgin Voyages to anyone planning a special trip. We understand that itineraries can change, but the lack of meaningful compensation and customer support has made us feel like our experience and the money we spent simply do not matter to Virgin.
it was 8/10.... Read the details
I loved the whole experience, it was organized from the beginning. I didn't have to wait in line. My bags took 2hrs to get to me and they damaged the front of my suit case.
Sail Off: 4/10 I didn't even know we were leaving, the music was Meh! they had dancers but they looked and acted tired and I think it affected the energy. I'm used to Carnival Energy, you hear the horns as we leave Miami, it felt like we were in a baby's bedroom. The SILENCE was loud.
Food: buffet was 6/10 the frenchtoast burger was honestly the BEST thing I had at the buffet. The Noodle bar needs to be redone, no taste no big flavor, gave very bland. Love the desert but it was the same every day so by Wednesday it became boring.
Restaurant: LOVED the italian restuarant. The Tuna tatre (thats not how you spell but wth) was delightful.
Razzle dazzle: the waitress Rique (i think that hers name) was such a sweetheart, was professional kept checking on me coz I was sailing solo. Super sweet. She deserves a bonus!
Club: Dj needs to leave 2000 and get into more diverse music. it OK.
Other: I like that they had crafts and other fun stuff to do besides the club
Suggestion: the restaurant and buffet should close at 11:00pm not 10:00 and the restaurant's kitchen closed at 9:15pm. Who does that?!!
But honestly I would sail again with Virgin, loved it all.
AWESOME EXERIENCE!!!!
Layback & Fun
This cruise was more laid back than the one I did last year from Miami. Older group of people mostly seniors but it was still a good had. I rested but had enough energy to party and enjoy the ports we visited. epic Fall trip
Did not live up to they Hype
Unfortunately, our cruise was just OK. My partner and I had been wanting to cruise with Virgin Voyages for a while so to say we were excited is a bit of an understatement. I wish I could say it was everything and more we hoped it’d be, but sadly it fell far from that mark. My first and biggest issue on the ship was the food. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!! I don’t know what others have felt about this topic, but my partner and I both felt the food was majorly lacking in variety and flavor. We ate at 4 different restaurants all of which we ended up going to the Galley afterward to get something we enjoyed better than the funky food we were offered in the restaurants. Even when we ate at the Galley, we ate the same thing all the time because they have very limited hours for multiple stations and limited choices if you don’t eat pork or seafood. I had more burgers in one week than I have had in an entire year because that was all that was offered besides an all day breakfast station or grab and go items. Aside from the food, the bed in our State room was incredibly hard. We were told multiple times that upon boarding we needed to go directly to sailor services and request a mattress topper. We were only in boarding group 2, and we went immediately to that area. There was only two people in front of us and we put in the request immediately. Upon getting to our State room, our room attendant approached us and let us know they did not have any mattress toppers. I have a bad back and my partner has bad shoulders. The bed was so uncomfortable and it made it difficult to sleep the entire trip. We were so tired all day every day on the trip from the lack of sleep we both got. In addition to these issues, we were incredibly disappointed with the amount of entertainment there was onboard and things to do. For a seemingly lively and fun filled company, I’ve had way more fun on every other cruise line I have sailed with. We went to two shows. Both of them were fine, but nothing over the top. We did a couple trivia and karaoke and that was about it. There were really only two levels of things to do when it came to restaurants, bars, hangout areas, or nightclubs. I found myself wandering on decks six and seven back-and-forth trying to find a comfortable place to sit and things to do. I’ve never spent so much time in my State room on a cruise because there was almost nothing going on of interest. On top of everything, we were placed in a room that was directly in front of the tender boats, and there was maintenance going on on the boats constantly throughout the cruise. It was very loud and the noise and maintenance continued throughout the middle of the night and kept us awake. Finally, halfway through the cruise, we requested to move rooms because it was getting so bad. They moved us to the other side of the ship where we spent the remaining three nights. After the cruise was over. I received my invoice in which I got charged for two items in the room that we did not take, including the squidy octopus and a cork screw that I had no desire to have so I’m not sure why I got charged for these two items. Unfortunately, all of this added up to a very disappointing cruise. I was fully expecting to have the time of my life and it was the exact opposite. I probably will not cruise @VirginVoyages ever again.
Awful Experience
When we arrived there was a crew member staying in our cabin. We had to go upstairs while they moved him and cleaned our room. That same night our iPad for the tv started making loud voice commands and the TV had to be cut off. Housekeeping had to get IT to fix this problem on day 2. On day 3 when we returned to the ship there was a bug crawling in our bed. They finally moved us to a balcony room. I went to go get something to eat and could not access the new room. I had to get management who had to get IT to reprogram the door. I them noticed that the door was not closing completely or locking. On day 4 I notified sailor services who notified maintenance. On day 5 maintenance had to come adjust the door and fix the lock. The offered unacceptable incentives that I would not accept. Their final offer while on the ship was $500 towards a future cruise. I requested half my money back because half of my vacation was ruined. I wrote an email and this week that amount and offer was reduced to $300. I want half my money back as requested.
I am extremely disappointed with my…
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Virgin Voyages customer service.
After bidding thousdands of dollars to upgrade my cabin , I receiveed this message " One of your submitted bids has been pre-selected for an upgrade and will be attempted within 24 hours if the inventory is available"
I never heard a thing back. Did I get upgraded? Is it pending?
I spent approximately 50 minutes on the phone, including speaking with a customer service supervisor, trying to resolve an issue with my upcoming cruise. After investing nearly an hour on the call, I was disconnected. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I had already spent so much time trying to get help.
For a cruise line that promotes a premium guest experience, I expected a much higher level of customer service and follow-through.
I am sharing my experience because prospective Virgin Voyages customers should know what my experience was like before booking. I hope Virgin Voyages takes customer concerns seriously and improves the way situations like this are handled.
Everything was absolutely perfect
Everything was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious, the staff was AMAZING, they were so nice, informative and welcoming! The fellow passengers were also a pleasure to be around. Virgin Voyages is going to be my cruise line for future cruise ship vacations.
First time with Virgin Voyages and…
First time with Virgin Voyages and everything I hoped it would be on board Valiant Lady. The cabins are spacious and well thought out, plenty of hanging and storage space. Cabin stewards were amazing, professional and friendly without being intrusive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Loungers and cabanas were plentiful on decks. Shuffleboard is my new favourite thing to play.
Now for the food, wow wow wow, so much choice, so many restaurants. If you want speciality restaurants do book ahead, my favourite has to be the Test Kitchen, artistry at work, amazing food, staff fantastic, an experience not to be missed (and all included in your cruise fare). You want Italian, you got it, Korean, Indian, Mexican, American, yes to all and more.
The entertainment was brilliant, again so much variety, if you want to take part, great, if not just sit back and enjoy.
If you want to dress up go for it, if not that's okay too, nobody is judging you, that is what is great about Virgin Voyages, you do you.
Would I go again, hell yeah, have I another VV cruise already booked, you bet I have.
Virgin a disappointment
Good points- beautiful and clean ship. Well run and good through a nasty storm. Adults only, good facilities . The Magnets group and The Diva drag acts excellent.
Neutral points- boarding and disembarking, crew (barmen) friendliness very hit and miss, entertainment a disappointment , amateurish and basic, repeated all the week, food always just about warm- never hot. Got fed up with having to send it back.
Poor points- no anytime dining or MDR. They have restaurants that you must book a time / date in advance and there is never availability- it’s awful, we had to eat either after 9pm or in the café. Also they serve you in the café, no one serves themselves like during Covid. . Drinks expensive with pointless prepay bar tab system - no alcoholic all inclusive option although soft drinks are free. Under the clean top bed linen , the mattress protector and pillows were horrible- stained and yellow with lord knows what. Overall the other similar cruise lines at that price are way ahead of Virgin. Shame as the ship itself was super.

One step above Carnival
We booked a Rockstar suite on Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady for an eight day cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles ($11,000). Other than a very nice cabin with a huge balcony and a very nice crew, the Virgin is about one step above Carnival. The food in three of the restaurants was very good. The other three were average to terrible. The Galley which replaces the normal buffet on every other cruise ship was a nightmare. It was confusing, crowded and the food was marginal to inedible. My wife got sick both times we ate in the Galley. The shows were very amateurish and like the rest of the activities on the ship, they tried to be cutesie. This ship really needs a main dining room and a conventional buffet. I would never recommend Virgin to any friends or family. Royal Caribbean and Holland America blow them out of the water.
What is better than....
What is better than going on Virgin Voyages? How about going on a B2B2B2B!? Yes, I enjoy the Ship, (Resilient Lady) and do not bother to visit the ports. Been there. Done that. The Team Members, the Food, etc are incredible and truly make a difference. I already have 2027 to Alaska, and 2028 to the Artic Circle, booked and paid for. ❤️
Our First Virgin Voyage We’ll Be Backs
This was our fifth cruise overall, but our first with Virgin Voyages aboard Resilient Lady. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely sail with Virgin again.
As experienced cruisers but first-time Virgin Sailors, our main suggestion would be better pre-cruise communication for first-time guests. Virgin works differently from traditional cruise lines, and returning Sailors already know when reservations open, which packages sell out quickly, Bar Tab deadlines, and how important it is to plan dining around major events.
We didn't realize how quickly experiences such as Splash of Romance could sell out or how important it was to make dining reservations immediately when they opened. By the time we checked that morning, most desirable times were unavailable. After calling Virgin, we were able to secure our dinners, but most were around 9:00–9:15 PM.
This especially affected Scarlet Night. Because of our late dinner, we missed much of the evening's activities and essentially only had time to enjoy the pool party. We would have loved to experience more of this signature night.
A simple “First-Time Virgin Sailor” email explaining these important details before reservations open would make a huge difference.
Once onboard, however, the experience was excellent. The service and crew were wonderful, the activities were fun, and the food quality was very good. Razzle Dazzle was actually our biggest surprise and became our favorite restaurant — delicious, flavorful food and a great experience.
We didn't have enough nights to try the Korean restaurant, so that's already on our list for next time!
Overall, Resilient Lady gave us a fantastic first Virgin experience. After five cruises, we can definitely say this won't be our last with Virgin Voyages.
Where should I begin
Where should I begin? Uncomfortable stateroom. No place to sit or eat except the bed. Balcony furniture is just a couple of steel chairs and a six inch round table. Bath towels are rough. Hand towels from the dollar tree and no wash cloths. No counter space in the bathroom or stateroom. I don’t like the multiple use body wash, shampoo and conditioner. I was able to remove the caps which made me feel uncomfortable about using them. Never once did they give us fresh bathroom glasses. I found debris from previous guests under the curtains and bed. There are zero announcements about anything.
If you don’t make reservations WELL in advance for the restaurant you want to go to then you’re SOL and find yourself self serving at a food court.
Unorganized, horrible communication and less than caring staff is what we experienced. We book a tour. We arrive 15 minutes early and we’re told to go to the back of the line. What line? There’s no line! There’s just a huge cluster of people walking around asking where to go. Again we went to the staff and said we had a 1:30 tour. We were then told that we were late and the tour LEFT!!!! We then asked where to board a tender to go into port and we were asked if we had a reservation! It’s 1:45 pm. We were not informed about making a reservation for a tender especially because we were going on a tour. Next tender appointment is 3:15. Apparently, if you want to go to port you must make a reservation in advance for a tender. We explained that we were not informed about making any reservations. We were told, ‘ we don’t make announcements’. LOLOLOLOL WTF? It’s now 1:50pm and the next tender is now 3:30. RUN, RUN FAST!!!! Horrible experience. We will never book with them again.
I have cruised a dozen times but nothing was there uncomfortable, frustrating, ridiculous and chintzy.
