Sunpass told me that my balance was zero and then made u another charge of 9.52! Total greed and fraud!

Non-Existent Customer Service, Fraud

I received a legitimate bill for $3.30 for my usage of the tolls during a visit in December 2022. I used their website to enter by bank account information and pay the balance. Weeks later, I receive another invoice stating there was insufficient funds, with an additional $25.00 insufficient funds fee and a $2.50 administrative fee tacked on. I opened a dispute as I am 100% sure this was not a case of insufficient funds. I contacted my bank to ask if they saw any history or attempt of this transaction and they did not.

When I received SunPass' response via email, they stated, "Thank you for contacting the SunPass Customer Service Center regarding your account balance. Upon further review, a payment in the amount of $3.30 was received on 2/10/2023 and posted to your account. According to the notes on your account, the payment was reversed by your bank institution on 2/10/2023 and applied a $25.00 non-sufficient funds fee. Non-sufficient funds fees are processed by your bank. You will need to dispute the insufficient fund fee directly through your banking institution. If you have any other questions, we are here to assist over the phone at 1-888-865-5352 Monday through Friday 7:00 am-7:00 pm, Saturday 8:30 am-5:00 pm.".

Again I contacted my bank who confirmed that there was no history of this attempted transaction on 2/10/23 or any of the surrounding dates, and they did not charge any sort of insufficient funds fee.

Of course it is impossible to reach a human with SunPass with their "customer service" phone number. I went ahead and begrudgingly paid the full amount because $30 is not worth the hassle, but I can only imagine how often this happens and how much money they are making this way! Unacceptable!

Total Incompetence & Zero Customer Service Skills

Received an errant toll invoice showing a motorcycle with supposedly my plate number in a grainy B&W photo from the middle of the afternoon. Problem is I don’t own a motorcycle, haven’t been to FL in over 20 years, the plate in question is registered to a car, and I live over 10 hours from where the toll billing took place—and was at work on the day in question for a law enforcement agency in my home state! After plenty of run around, blame being placed that this was somehow my doings, and the agent talking in circles as I asked simple questions my invoice was filed as a ‘dispute’ as I was told this would have to be investigated as FL DMV ‘verifies’ all information before an invoice is sent. REALLY?!? Who ‘verified’ my plates for a passenger vehicle as a motorcycle? I was told the investigation would take 2-3 days and at that time I would receive an email with the findings. Why am I certain this is only the first chapter in a long and twisted tale of incompetence by FL DMV, FDOT, and the SunPass system? The system failed miserably out of the gate and failed to verify any information prior to sending the invoice and now I’m supposed to believe competence will prevail? Bring it on SunPass, my heels are dug in…

This is now 2 x in the last two years

This is now 2 x in the last two years, I call to update my account, and there's a young lady's voice on the other end. Mind you I was on hold for 45 minutes. Right from the beginning of the conversation I could sense she wasn't actively listening. Simply by how many times she asked me to repeat my name!!! I had to repeat my self several times, hopes that she would get it right. But of course she screwed up my account worse than the last Agent I spoke to a year ago needing to remove a junked vehicle. She also delete my active Vehicle & left the junked vehicle as active. Like WTH kind of skill set does one require to work as a customer care specialist for this company? They should fire their HR Manager. Because this is ridiculous!!!! I'm now on hold again for another freaking hour to get HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE DRIVING WITH THE VEHICLE INVALID SIMPLY BECAUSE THEIR HIRING REQUIREMENTS ARE POOR!!!!!

A zero is more accurate

A zero is more accurate. There is 👎 customer service. I remained on the line holding for 1'45" and no one ever answered the line. Waited 4 days for a"call back ' which they offer you as if it is a viable option which it is not, I still have an unresolved issue and no way to resolve it. This is totally unacceptable. They rake in too much money to offer customer support. Florida needs to use a different company.

Save yourself and just go with E-Pass

Go with E-Pass. Sunpass is the worst customer service experience I have ever had to deal with. They will send multiple bills with incorrect information, you cannot speak to someone without waiting days & they are rude and unhelpful once you do speak with someone. After years of using SunPass, I am so excited to have some customer service & better communication with E-Pass!

I have had SunPass for years & switched…

I have had SunPass for years & switched to a SunPass Pro over a year ago. When I switched to Pro, I had to call since there was not a way to cancel the old SunPass so THEY did all the updates to the account. Today, 1/14/23 approx a year later, out of the blue I got an Invoice for tolls covered by my SunPass. Called several times on 1/14/2023 and their system was down. Finally got "Greg" who was at best accusatory and incompetent. He said I must not have updated my tag or credit card info. I told him I don't have a new tag nor credit card info. He continued to tell me I must had made some kind of mistake??? Asked for a Supervisor. She said "the transponder wasn't read". I pulled up my SunPass statement and it was definitely on the on-line bill & already paid. She kept arguing with me that it wasn't. The on-line statement shows the date & time of the transaction and it is the exact same as the paper invoice I received in the mail. Complete incompetency going on at Florida Dept. of Transportation!

I've been on hold for over an hour and…

I've been on hold for over an hour and no one has picked up and I also had the run around with the machine for about a good 30min that you can ask to a representative and it tells you that they don't understand I'm being charged for my previous balance which I paid plus they are putting in some payment and adjustment from another account they are also charging me the full price for the tolls even though I have a sunpass and paid the full amount so I can get the discount these people are a bunch of thieves in high power that is why they are getting away with it the government doesn't look out for us they look out for there pockets. The day they look out for us you better look at the sky to see what is coming down on us. what they fail to tell you is that if you let your payment overdraft again that they will charge you regular price on the tolls which is one of the most important things and speaking to a manager is like speaking to an idiot they are there to rip everyone off and to top it all off they don't pay there employees well and according to one of the employees that I spoke to told me that they have to pay toll so they defend the company for no reason instead of working to help the middle class or payrolls stay the same while everything goes up and we the middle class are the one that are picking the useless presidents representative chair man congressman useless people because they do nothing for us everything is for themselves as long as there pockets are full ours will always be empty but we don't stand up for ourselves and others like us this country will become worse that the third world countries I don't mean go out and damage the small mamas and pops I mean writing to who ever will listen I don't even mean protesting because then you will have inappropriate people who are radicals and start fires and breaking other peoples properties and stealing that is not a protest.

No cash option on the eastbound Pinellas Bayway

Travelled the Pinellas Bayway 8 times in November and December 2022. Heading out to the beach, westbound, no problem. There is an manned (actually femaled, by a very friendly lady who made our arrival to PAG very pleasant, and we saw her several more times.) tollbooth where money (cash and bills) is taken, and change made.

One would think eastbound would be the same. No! No manned booth. No change made. Change is not even taken! What happened to the machines that take coins?

Ridiculous that there is no option to pay, eastbound.

Even more ridiculous is that our Texas toll tag does not work in Florida. I thought congress, the United States Congress, said this was supposed to happen... back in 2015! It's called "TOLL INTEROPERABILITY"

So what does this mean? It means we get billed. No big deal right? Wrong. There is a $2.50 "administration charge" added to our mailed bill.

That's two and a half trips across the Bayway. I would have gladly tossed in 4 quarters to avoid this charge.

Lastly, would have gone one star were it not for the super nice tollbooth attendant!

Disgusting Recorded Voice Runaround

First they send a bogus bill with a grainy pic of someone else's car and license plate. When I try to call in the mistake, they start the "recorded voice runaround" designed to go in circles for 30 minutes without ever connecting you to a human. No human ever calls a company like this for any of the 32 items on 6 menus and submenus. 99% of the time, you call to report an error. You know it, they know it - they just don't want to know it. After 20 minutes and three call backs to learn the scam and press buttons that might eventually lead to a person, they let me into the waiting line which is 22 MINUTES LONG. I'm now waiting for a callback. Have the feeling I will wait several weeks for this callback.

SunPass charged me $25 fee for their…

SunPass charged me $25 fee for their computer glitch!!! Terrible customer service, they clearly hate their jobs, maybe their own life. Bitter, rude people. If you can avoid sunpass do so. You are better off paying the few extra cents at the toll gates. because in the long run they will charge you ridiculous fees for low balance on your account etc...

Avoid SUNPASS.com at all costs

Avoid sunpass.com at all costs,
Registered an account back in 2016 and left credit in an account as I knew I would be back on holiday in the future.
Went to close account and did not realise that my debit card that I had on the system was out of date.
Contacted them loads of times about recieving a refund, but like the robots they are just kept on repeating the same things.
Kept on explaining that I was on holiday at the time so there was no point in sending a cheque to the address as I was only there for 14 days in 2016, asked them weeks before travelling back to florida on the 27th of October 2022 could you please send it to the villa where I was staying for 15 days.
But I was told it takes 45 days for them to send a cheque out.
But does not take them long to send out a letter if they want money from you.
If you are arriving in to Orlando International you can register with visitor toll pass it's free but are pre-charged for tag to pick up a tag out of the machine next to vehicle rentals.
And you have the same Toll charges as sunpass.com.
And if you return the tag on departure that $10 is refunded back to you.
Please please avoid Sunpass as I have now lost on £15 due to them not allowing me to give new card details.

Sunpass has the worst quality of humans…

Sunpass has the worst quality of humans working for them, they treat people like crap, they don't want to spend the time to help anybody. I was misinformed so many times by the same customer service representative, they gave me incorrect information regarding my account and got upset because I told them that was not case, then went back and reviewed the information again in my account to realize I was right. They also got upset because I wanted more information and was asking questions, they kept asking if I needed help with anything else, I had to kept saying, yes, do you have the time to help me?
Honestly, I think this only speaks of the company and how they treat their employees and how they are trained to treat costumers. And the sad reality is that wanted or not we are obligated to pay these leeches of society that do not contribute to anything at all, only thing they do is steal our money.

Paying for Tolls that were not mine !!

I purchased a car on Aug 27 2022. In Sep I received an invoice saying I had gone through some tolls around the Tampa Area. I think they were waiting for the Temp Plate to get registed to me as all the tolls on the invoice were BEFORE I purchased the car. The picture of the car was not mine either.
Anyway, I used the chat bot and after a long conversation, the rep added the plate to mu SUNPASS after I emphasised NOT to do that as I would contest separately.
Next response I get from SUNPASS is that they cannot do anything as the unpaid tolls had been added to my SUNPASS account (I told the Rep NOT to do that). Anyway, they said submit a dispute, so I did so. Then got a response saying they could not resolve as it was a duplicate dispute. Then I got an email saying they could not resolve and asked for more documentation which I had already sent. I drove the car from Vero Beach to Pembroke Pines on Aug 27 and the tolls were BEFORE taht date and in the Tampa area on a different Car. I have paid around $35-$40 dollars for tolls taht were not incurred by me.
Something is not right !!
Is this how they weear you down and then give up on the disputes as I am going to now.
I woudl not say this company is a SCAM as many of teh reviews suggest, I just think it is poorly managed and their frontine people do not have a clue as to what they are advising. The first rep advised me that since the plate was registered to me, I was responsible for the tolls (even before I took possession of the car.
Attention Sunpass, I hope you enjoy what yoru reps are doing to users. Its a shame there is no equivalent company for tolls as I am not at all please with SunPass.

Please try to avoid using this company I feel SCAMMED because they keeps send me bills for using the toll ,even I used once in a while ,paid almost $200 recently and avoiding tolls, now is another one for $150+ and another one for one toll that was $2.50 they charge additional $2.50 so I have to pay a total of $5.00
More ,better if it is an emergency DISCARD THE PASS AND PAY CASH They should have 0 star worst company you can find. NOT RECOMMENDED

expensive and Horrible costumer service

Horrible costumer service, expensive, the express ways are under construction for decades, traffic bumper to bumper and the charge a repetitive charge. It is a physical and psychological abuse for working communities, these government south Miami is an abuse with the working class and low-income communities while they destroy our cars and charge $150 monthly for the low-income communities. When this abuse is going to stop. When will they respect the costumer on the line phones and empty their wallet? Horrible!

Stay away!

Stay away!! Customer service is nonexistent. The web site is terrible. After purchasing a transponder I was unable to set up an account. Sunpass claims I already have an email associated with my license plate. I don’t but can’t get the issue rectified as they keep sending automated responses that don’t address the issue.
Very frustrating so my advice is to use the manual tool booths.
