Sturgeon
I recently ordered my first and last time a sturgeon from London Grocery. The delivery was prompt and well-packaged, with proper attention to temperature control, which I appreciated. The fish arrived in relatively fresh condition — not exceptionally fresh, but acceptable, and I had no major complaints at that stage.
However, a significant issue became apparent during preparation. Even while cleaning the fish, there was a noticeable earthy, muddy odour coming from the flesh. Once cooked, this translated clearly into the flavour, with a distinct muddy aftertaste that unfortunately overpowered the natural qualities of the sturgeon.
Now, it is important to clarify that this kind of flavour is not inherently unnatural — sturgeon is a freshwater fish, and if not handled correctly after harvest, such flavours are expected. But experienced and reputable sturgeon farmers know how to manage this. The industry standard among professionals is to hold the fish in clean, flowing water for a minimum of five days — ideally ten — without feeding them. This process helps purge the digestive tract and significantly reduces any muddy taste in the meat.
This step is especially important because sturgeon is considered a premium fish. Its meat is meant to be delicate, clean, and uniquely flavourful. When that natural character is masked by the taste of silt, the entire culinary experience is lost.
In countries where sturgeon is an established part of the national food culture, this purging process is taken seriously and done consistently. For those who are familiar with what real, properly handled sturgeon should taste like, the muddy flavour is not just disappointing — it feels disrespectful to the product and to the customer.
I sincerely hope London Grocery considers reviewing the sourcing and post-harvest treatment of their sturgeon. The fish has so much potential, but it must be handled with the care it deserves.

I purchased Glenryck Pilchards in Tomato Sauce 12 x 155g × 1 for £87 - very expensive but that's what I wanted. What I received is Tropical Sun Pilchards 8x425g - not what I wanted. They agreed to collect the incorrect tins of Pilchards and refund me.
No refund has been made despite many emails of promises to do so.
DO NOT PURCHASE FORM THESE UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE, THEY MAY WELL ROB YOU!
Shocking experience and never received refund
Shocking experience with this company. I ordered a product which they did not have in stock when the order was placed (and I later found out, had been discontinued in the UK for a while before this). I was sent a different, unsuitable product. They accepted their mistake, and asked me to return it - which I did - but never refunded me. I chased multiple times and in the end had to raise a bank dispute to get my money back.

I ordered a 24 pack of boost fruit punch off the website and asked to be delivered in 3 days. After the 5th day, item still hadn't arrived and I received an email saying they wasn't in stock and I would get a refund. Over 3 weeks later, still no refund, just lame responses by email. Their customer service line constantly rings out and when you message their what's app service, you don't get a reply for how long. Avoid if you can. Personally I think they need shutting down or at least a visit from trading standards

I placed an order for £53.99 on the 10th June 2025. Initially they told me that they could not send the order on the chosen date as they are waiting for fresh supplies. Over a week later they informed me that they would be giving me a refund. After waiting again for over a week they sent me an email on 13th July saying that due to unforeseen operational issues the refunds were delayed and would issue the refund very soon. It is now 19th July and still no refund. Please stay away from this company as they clearly have no customer service ethics. If I don't get my refund in a few days I will be reporting them to the customer rights ombudsman.

I ordered 4 boxes of nappies for my autistic son as I can't get them anywhere. So I was relieved I had them ordered for delivery today.
I checked my account online and it said unfulfilled. So I emailed and didn't get a response, messaged on whatsapp and finally got a reply.
They told me that they couldn't do my order and would promptly give me a refund. Now it's saying it's fulfilled online and I haven't received anything.
But they're still advertising having these Huggies pull ups on their shop website. Which is false advertisement and should be stopped. I have raised this with my bank.
Shocking Customer Service!
I ordered 4 packs of frozen burgers from London Grocery.net on 17th June but when my order arrived on 20th June there were only two packs!

I don’t understand what further details you require? I ordered 4 packs of burgers and you sent two! I complained and you accepted you had made a mistake and offered me a refund or a fulfilment of my original order! I asked for the two packs to be sent and I made it clear that I needed them by Saturday 28th June. I did not hear anything so I emailed again and received the email below. Please get burgers sent out today, I need them this Saturday !
I understand mistakes happen and I am more than willing to be forgiving but my patience is now running low!

Another extremely disappointing…
Another extremely disappointing service. Claimed to deliver within 48 hours but i played safe and arranged to be delivered the next week. thinking it would be just on time for event, however, never came. no update, nothing. I had to frantically contact them and chased for update and find another source that is realiable. If you have operational issues, shouldn't you at least be professional and inform the customer? Not apologetic at all as well.
Beyond disappointment, asked for refund, said 1-2weeks! Sound ridiculous, but i waited. 15 working days passed, now nobody even responded. OMG. this is absolutely rubbish! If i could i would give ZERO star.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience.
This was my second order from London Grocery. The first time, I had to wait until caras fish was back in stock, but eventually I received the full order — and I was genuinely happy to have found someone in the UK who delivers my favourite fish. I was looking forward to becoming a regular customer.
Unfortunately, this time was very different. I ordered 2kg of caras fish and exotic fruits. I received the fruits but only 1kg of fish, and no one informed me that the other half was missing.
After I contacted them, they told me they would send the remaining 1kg immediately. A week passed with no update. I had to follow up again, and only then they told me they were still waiting for fresh stock. Eventually, on May 9, they said they would issue a refund — but I have received nothing,today May 28.
It is unacceptable to take money for items that are not in stock, without informing the customer. If something is unavailable, it should be clearly shown on the website, and the customer should not have to chase for either the product or their money.
Very poor service and communication. Sadly, I won’t be ordering again.

Utterly disgraceful service - avoid this company
I placed an order with London Grocery and clearly updated the delivery address in advance, which was confirmed in writing by their team. The change of address only occurred after I received an email at 9.30pm the night before the original delivery date stating my product was not available. Despite this, they delivered to the wrong location over two hours away — a serious failure that forced me to pay £145 out of pocket for a private courier just to retrieve my items.
Their response? A dismissive email and a 50% refund that doesn’t even cover the courier fee, let alone the stress and time wasted. This is not only unacceptable, it’s a clear breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK).
I’ve since initiated a chargeback through my bank and reported the company to Trading Standards. The customer service was cold, unapologetic, and entirely uninterested in putting things right.
I regularly manage food logistics for large film productions in the UK — and I will never use or recommend this company again.
Do not trust London Grocery. If something goes wrong, you’re on your own.
Terrible customer service
My order was supposed to be delivered today…I received an email from them, no apology or excuse, just to say it hadn’t been despatched and they don’t know when it will be. I placed this order over a month ago, well ahead of the date it was needed. This was for a birthday gift. My advice is do not waste your money with them, absolutely awful service.

I ordered a 4kg large fish from London Grocery Online and paid £90 for it. Unfortunately, the delivery was 13 days late. When the item finally arrived, I received two smaller fish instead of the one I ordered. After cleaning the fish, I found that 1,100g was wasted, leaving me with very little usable product.
I contacted customer service, and they offered a 20% refund and 20% off my next order, but they never followed through on their promise. Very poor service and quality. I will not be ordering again, and I don’t recommend this store to anyone.
