Disappointing and Frustrating
This is the most inefficient company I have encountered in over 50 years.
From the surveyor who arrived without batteries for his moisture meter (that should have been a red light for me) to the office staff and on to the operative, their lack of communication was abysmal.
The surveyor made promises which could not be carried out. The office staff failed to pass on messages causing extra problems.
I was informed by the surveyor that this job would take 2 days, it actually took 6 .
The fifth day was arranged between the operative and myself but nobody turned up. I rang the company who informed me the operative was on holiday. On the sixth day the operative assured me that he had been working on another job and that the office should have let me know this. Who was telling me the truth?
We were also led to believe that 3 people would be on site each time, there were never more that 2. The number of hours worked differed between the company and the operative.
Finally the operative signed off his own work which really fills one with confidence.

You mention the absence of batteries for a moisture meter on arrival. The meter is used daily, and on occasion batteries do need replacing. This was done at the time and moisture readings were taken as part of the survey. This had no impact on the assessment or the recommendations made.
The original installation timeframe provided was an estimate based on what was visible prior to works commencing. Once plaster was removed, it became clear that the walls were thicker than anticipated and required additional waterproof rendering. This process must be completed in stages and allowed to dry correctly to ensure a durable, long-term result. While this extended the time on site, the agreed price remained unchanged and no additional labour charges were applied, despite the extra work involved, which many contractors would ordinarily charge for.
We would also like to clarify that this type of installation is routinely carried out by a two-person team, which is our standard practice. We are not aware of any instance where a three-person team was promised or discussed. Pete, who carried out the survey, is a highly experienced surveyor, and information provided at survey stage is based on established working methods and past projects.
Progress photographs are taken at each stage of the work and shared with our office so that works can be monitored and signed off internally. We accept that communication regarding site attendance on one occasion could have been clearer, and we apologise for the inconvenience this caused.
Our priority is delivering careful, compliant workmanship that provides long-term protection, fully supported by a comprehensive guarantee.
Do not recommend.
Just had these people phone me after I made an online enquiry about a small damp patch in corner of room of house I have just moved in to. I’ve dealt with damp before in previous house and I have never once been asked in such a forthright manner how many parole own this house. Was made to feel extremely uncomfortable. Would not recommend at all. He then put phone down on me whilst I was trying to explain I have never been asked that before.

When we arrange a free damp survey, we need to make sure that we are speaking directly with the property owner. This is because damp proof treatments can involve opening up walls, removing plaster, and carrying out work that is disruptive within the property. It is important that the owner is present so the findings, the level of disruption, and the available options can be explained clearly and questions can be answered properly.
For tenanted and commercial properties, we offer a different type of survey. For this reason, it is important that we establish the ownership and occupancy at the initial call so we can arrange the correct survey and give the right advice.
We regret if this was not made clear during the call and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We wish you all the best in getting the damp issue resolved.

Happy with the HB&SC service
The HB&SC team were very good with communications. Their surveyor was very knowledgeable and experienced. Gave us an immediate solution to our problem. The team that came to the house to install the vents were also great. They worked really hard and efficiently. They finished the work in one morning, left everything tidy. I would definitely recommend HB&SC.

House Damp Survey
I arranged a survey of my house as I has a damp issue. Ritchard and Ben attended and were extremely helpful in assessing the issue and proposing some potential solutions which we can attend to ourselves. They were keen to point out that it was a relatively minor damp issue and could be mitigated without the need for expensive insulation or ventilation work; I am sure that other companies might have recommended further work for themselves. I thoroughly recommend them for (free) initial survey work.

Good survey but not good in commitment
Good survey, the person was very professional and convincing.
Not so good in the installation service as the company kept on delay the date of the installation without explaination
