WARNING - G Plan Kingsbury…

We purchased a G Plan Kingsbury 3-seater and 2-seater sofas from Furniture Village in 2024 at a cost of around £8,000. Given the price the price of the furniture we also purchased the Care+ furniture protection policy.

Within approximately two years, one seat has developed a significant loss of support and resilience. The affected seat has deteriorated to the point that you sink noticeably into the junction between the seat base and backrest, resulting in a much lower seating position and making it uncomfortable and more difficult to get up from. The other seats in the suite, including the 2-seater, remain in good condition.

We have raised this both with Furniture Village and the associated insurance provider, Emmiera Group, who acknowledged compaction in the seat, but the claim was declined on the basis of “no faults found”, with reference to normal usage and “favourite seat” wear.

We are not disputing that some softening can occur with use, particularly in the most frequently used seat. However, the level of deterioration in this case is quite ridiculous for furniture of this age and price, and is significantly affecting day-to-day use.

At this stage we are seeking a fair resolution and an explanation of how this level of loss of support is considered acceptable for a premium product within such a short timeframe.

We are still hopeful that Furniture Village and or G Plan will engage properly with the issue and resolve it appropriately.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

In September 2023 we took delivery of our leather suite - 3 seater 2 seater and 1 armchair from John James Furniture in Southend on Sea Essex. Last year I contacted John James as we noticed there were lighter patches appearing on the suite. I was told that unfortunately it happens with leather!!! We previously had a dralon suite for over 45 years and it served us well. I have to say we are extremely disappointed with our suite considering it was high grade leather and cost us a lot of money.
I was told by someone that it seems the lacquer coating is actually peeling away!

Our factory here in Melksham takes every care to ensure all pieces of furniture are manufactured to the highest standards, using the finest materials and upholstery.

While we offer a 2 year warranty on materials, we always do our best to work with our retailers to offer assistance or a resolution should a service issue or query arise. We expect and experience that the leathers we use last for many years past the life of the warranty.
There are many factors than can affect leather, we do have plenty of care advice available in our care guide on the GPlan website.

As your suite was purchased through a retailer, your contract of sale is with them, they are best placed to review the options available to you. If they do need any support from us to assist with a resolution they can get in touch and we will work with them fully to help bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.

I would never buy from G plan again

I would never buy from G plan again. They send technicians which are useless and keep passing the buck ! Please do your homework when purchasing a sofa from Gplan. In the end I had to buy new sofas from different company and I very happy with them

Terrible Customer Service

Ok where to Start this saga. Last April I decided to purchase a GPlan Vintage 3 Seater Sofa and chair cost £3000 a safe bet 2 high end names in the consumer world Delivered the end of May
During October we found that the foam cushions were sagging and failing very uncomfortable I telephoned John Lewis they sent a technician who duly arrived in November he added a very small sponge type foam to the chair
That did not solve the problem what followed was months of emails phone calls more technicians who agreed the foam was faulty not good density changed one side of the sofa we will return with more foam inserts.
I have been told today this will not happen until the middle of May. I have nowhere to sit in my lounge as I’ve now developed Sciatica so I’m on a tub chair
I’ve heard all the platitudes from John Lewis they will not entertain a Return for Refund due to the Consumer Rights Act I need to have a repair after 7months I am worn out I need help
I am a 76yrs old lady with health issues which both John Lewis and GPlan knew about that made no difference
Update John Lewis finally admitted this should not have happened so picked up the sofa and chair and offered refund 🤞not yet received.
G Plan you were informed about this fault and you had me waiting 7months for a resolution Shame on you

GPlan sofas - quality!The sofa suite we acquired is pure…

The sofa suite we acquired is pure quality. We paid a premium for G Plan - perfect for our needs from size to comfort and colour range. However we were only able to take delivery of two of the three items we had purchased as there was a production issue meaning a later delivery of the outstanding item. Delivery of the latter occurred soon after the delivery of the other two items and all was fine. Delivery service was very satisfactory too. We are enjoying our purchase.

Not the quality or service I expected…

Not the quality or service I expected from an iconic British brand. Ordered a wren suite on 23/02/26, sofa ,armchair and riser recliner . Two missed delivery dates ,only one damaged chair and faulty sofa delivered.still no sign of riser recliner. Now waiting for report to be filed to order replacements. So goodness knows when this will be sorted.

I have given a five star review after my initial complaint/problem with faulty fitting was resolved by your technician on his visit (Rob Shrapnell). He virtually took the whole double recliner apart and spent a lot of time on the actual upholstery as well. The First Gentleman having made no adjustment said it was ok. I did send photos to Leeks to prove that it wasn’t corrected.

Nice recliner spoilt by easily addressed issues for some users

Overall I am pleased with my Maribo Fabric Lift and Rise Power Recliner Chair bought from Furniture Village. It is comfortable, looks good and is easily set to a wide range of positions. I would have given it 5 stars if it were not for two relatively minor faults which G Plan could easily address. The remote is attached with a very heavy, tightly coiled cable which acts like a spring. Operation requires constantly pulling it really hard with the left hand while pressing buttons with the right. The charger cable must be inserted into a small socket buried under the back of the chair. The cable ends in a plug which can only be inserted one way but has no markings or shape to indicate which way it is being inserted. For anyone like myself who cannot bend or kneel down this is an issue. I considered permanently attaching a short extension cable to the chair but G Plan seem to use a very unusual connector which I cannot identify.

Large leather Vintage Seventy Two sofa in Petrol Blue
