We went to Sentis travel in Athens…

We went to Sentis travel in Athens today and the wonderful Panagiota Papadogona helped us with our enquiries, unfortunately due to it not being the season there was no snorkeling available but offered us an alternative which we were so grateful for, we now have a full day itinerary to three different islands on a Cruise! And it was at a great price of only €130 PP! Me and my partner are so excited! Pangiota was lovely, welcoming, a great listener and absolutely hilarious! Highly recommend going seeing her! You won't regret it!

Trotz korrekter Information mussten wir vor Ort Aufpreis bezahlen.

Unser Fahrzeug wurde vom Fährbetreiber als Camper eingestuft, obwohl es offiziell als PKW registriert ist. Es handelt sich um einen normalen VW Bus, der im Zulassungsschein eindeutig als PKW (Fahrzeugklasse M1) ausgewiesen ist. Auf der Website von Ferries in Greece gab es dazu keinerlei Hinweise, ebenso wenig bestand bei der Buchung die Möglichkeit, ein Fahrzeug als Camper anzumelden.

Die Größenangaben wurden korrekt gemacht, das Fahrzeug wurde bei der Buchung exakt gemäß Zulassungsschein angegeben – dennoch mussten wir vor Ort einen Aufpreis bezahlen. Das empfinden wir als Wegelagerei und als irreführende bzw. falsche Information seitens Ferries in Greece.

Der Support war in keiner Weise hilfreich. Statt einer sachlichen Klärung wurden Emir Fotos von irgendwelchen VW Bussen geschickt, die mit unserem Fahrzeug nicht vergleichbar sind, mit der pauschalen Aussage, ein VW Bus sei grundsätzlich ein Camper.

Die Buchung wirkte auf den ersten Blick günstig, stellte sich im Nachhinein jedoch als deutlich teurer heraus als vergleichbare Angebote auf anderen Plattformen.

As already explained several times (!!) by email, my vehicle is not a camper, but a van. It is registered as a passenger car, and I have sent you the registration document. From this, it is clearly evident that it is not a camper. It has no kitchen, toilet or shower. I can’t even stand upright inside. It is a car — a car with a height of 2 meters and a length of 5 meters — but a car, not a camper. I booked it as a car with a height of 2 meters and a length of 6 meters and provided the exact vehicle type.

It is not very smart to send me photos of completely different VW campers that do not correspond to my vehicle.

How ignorant can one be?

As the booking dates back to 2023, we unfortunately no longer have access to the related email correspondence, as older communications are deleted in accordance with data protection regulations. This limits our ability to review the exact details of the exchange.

Regarding the vehicle category, please note that when a camper-type vehicle is booked under a standard car category, the ferry company may reclassify it at the port and apply the corresponding fare difference. This policy is set and enforced by the ferry operator and applies regardless of the booking platform used.

We understand that this can be frustrating, and we always aim to provide accurate guidance based on the information available at the time of booking. Should you have any further questions, we remain at your disposal and would be happy to assist.

Overrated

Truth be told, this was not the first time on a ferry, and it is worth saying that a cabin price was highly overrated and for that price(200 eur one way) you'd get a seedy cabin, old bedding, and an air-con/heater that would be out of order; you'd pay for WI-FI and it wouldn't work. To really feel the difference, try taking a ferry from Estonia to Stockholm you'll have nice cabins, clean and new bedding, an entertaining program on board, and all this is at half price. The travel time is the same -9 hours. It's worth learning from others.
Anyway, we were able to get from point A to B, hence 2 stars.

Please note that cabin condition, pricing, and onboard services (such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning) are determined and operated exclusively by the ferry company, in this case Blue Star Ferries, and are outside our control.

As a booking platform, we facilitate ticket reservations but do not manage or influence the onboard product. For this reason, your feedback would be more effectively addressed directly on the ferry company’s page or with their customer support.

Ce sont des voleurs

Ce sont des voleurs! La compagnie de Ferry Blue Star a annulé le transport retour que j'avais déjà payé et refuse de me le rembourser. J'ai été dans l'obligation de prendre le bateau d'une autre compagnie laquelle était deux fois plus chère. Cette agence de réservation ainsi que la compagnie ont donc encaissé mon argent contre rien du tout alors que j'avais payé un service de transport à l'origine. L'annulation étant de leur fait, ils auraient dû me rembourser. J'ai fait intervenir un médiateur de service consommateurs mais l'agence et la compagnie restent hermétiques et demeurent dans la toute-puissance. Je vais devoir les attaquer en justice car c'est inadmissible de les laisser agir ainsi en toute impunité.

Some of the ferries were delayed

Some of the ferries were delayed, but had no trouble with booking and reservation. Overall, it's an easy service to use and they tend to help you with your problems quickly. I recommend the service.

Indifferent customer service

My outward trip from Piraeus to Hydra was ok, although I found the service brusque and officious and not very friendly.
Two days before I was booked to return to Piraeus I was sent a text informing me that my ferry was cancelled due to a seaman's strike. I managed - just in time - to find the ticket office in Hydra Port and transfer my ticket to one 24 hours earlier.
Not only was my holiday on the island cut short by a day (admittedly not the fault of the ferry company) but I then had to spend a night in a hotel in Athens, which cost me an additional 69 euros that I could ill afford. I was told by the company that I would receive no compensation, because the terms and conditions stated this to be the case.
I think this is unfair, and it left a sour note on an otherwise lovely holiday.

Regarding your outbound trip, we are happy that everything went well, and we are sorry if you feel that the service provided by the ferry company BLUE STAR FERRIES did not live up to your expectations.
As for your return trip, kindly note that the 24-hour Seamen's Strike on the 25th of October 2022 was something unexpected. As soon as it was confirmed, which was two days before your return trip, the ferry company informed us accordingly. Therefore, we sent you the appropriate information by email and SMS, giving you plenty of time to make alternative arrangements, especially since Hydra is a very small island and the central agency of the ferry company is just by the quay, which makes it very easy to find it.
Kindly also note that when a ferry is canceled, according to the terms and conditions of all ferry companies, which you read and accepted before completing the booking, the passengers are entitled to a full refund of the ticket rate. You received the full refund and used it to book another trip with the same company.
A company is not responsible for or obligated to pay any compensation due to any union strike. We understand that you had to pay for one night in Athens, which you had not originally planned, but since you also state that it was not our fault, we feel a little mistreated by your 3-star review as we provided our service and did everything we could to assist you.

Cancelled without notice

My ferry was cancelled and I received no emails or any other notice. I had to find out directly from the ticket office, and buy new tickets on the spot for 150€ extra. Very disappointing.

Regarding your trip from Santorini to Heraklion, we would like to clarify that the value of the original tickets was deducted from the total cost of the new tickets you booked and you paid a 150 euros difference.

We have contacted the ferry company Aegeon Pelagos to clarify what happened, as we had not received any notice from them regarding this cancellation. They have informed us that your trip was indeed canceled due to bad weather conditions and you were notified by SMS to the mobile number you had given when making this booking. Since the SMS was successfully delivered, they did not inform us about it as you had all the necessary information.
Furthermore, they informed us that you did change your tickets in the office of their central agent in Santorini in the early noon the day before your trip, and you have paid the ticket rate difference of the ticket you bought for another company.

Kindly be advised that the port authorities decide if a vessel would be operating or not according to the weather forecast for the next 6 hours. So, in the case of bad weather conditions, the ferry companies do not know in advance if the vessel will be restricted from operating.
In such cases, the company's central offices assist the passengers in order to get to their destinations as soon as possible.

Finally, we would like to remind you that according to the terms and conditions of the ferry company, in cases of cancellation due to force majeure such as strong winds, all passengers are entitled to a full refund of the ticket rate of their tickets.

Les ferries emprunter ont ruiné nos vacances

Les horaires n ont absolument pas ete respecter la premier fois nous a fait perdre une apres midi et une soiree et la seconde a ete avancer sans nous prévenir nous avions louer des hôtels et des voitures que nous n avons pas utiliser.
Sans parler du retard on nous avait pris notre place attitrer par d autre voyageur et personnes pour les déloger . Un cappuccino prit dans le ferries a 5 euros et meme pas bon un calvaire ces deux voyages en ferries on ruiné nos vacances nous nous rabaterons en avions la prochaine fois

Terrible all around

Terrible service. Always late. Ferries would go from a 3hr trip to 6hr. No structure. Chaotic getting on and off the boat. But there were 8 people yelling at you to move forward when there is a car in front of you, but no structure before or after that. Nasty bathrooms. Zero services on board. Have to pay for wifi. They changed plans a lot but no notifications.

Islands Hop

I used the service between 3 Islands, and I was satisfied in general about the services. Some delays occurred, but was acceptable in a way. The only comments I have is when the boarding start, the way it's organized, is not very safe, were cars and passengers all board together, without a specific place for pedestrian, for me this is the only concern I have. Other then that my expectations was met. Another point is we cannot get the electronic Boarding pass on all Ferries, and we had to go to the offices to print with a charge, That is very big inconvenient.

As we can see, you had made three bookings with us and all of them were with ferry companies that support e-tickets.

You had therefore received detailed web check in instructions, including the access code needed for your Blue Star ferries trips in your booking confirmation emails.

You had also received additional emails 2 days before your trip date to remind you that you can use this service in order to avoid going to the local port offices.

We therefore find very strange the point on your review mentioning that you had to go locally to print out your tickets, and would be very thankful if you could you please clarify which trips you refer to so that we can investigate this issue further.

Correct & legal invoice

I asked for an invoice which should have been sent at time of booking and the reply was to use the tickets.

We would like to clarify that at the moment of booking you were automatically sent your ‘Billing and Confirmation’ which includes the analysis of the charges and the total amount that was paid and can be used as proof of your expense. Kindly note that as is in accordance with the Greek Law the tickets themselves are legal receipts so no additional invoice needs to be issued.

Very kind service

Very kind service. I booked online the wrong months and discovered this after the month the bookings were valid for. They very kindly managed to transfer the tickets to the month I originally wanted to book for although the tickets were not refundable. Many thanks!

We would like clarify ‘Kerkyra lines’, the company you booked with, is a small company and is the only one that does not permit for bookings that have been made via online travel agencies to be amended for another trip.
This is not a common practise among the Greek Ferry companies. We are sorry to hear that you arrived earlier and wished to change your tickets for an earlier departure and that this was not possible.
