Company very good at marketing. The holiday was over sold and under delivered. The holiday was very poor value for money and more focussed on minimal effort at maximum cost. In addition customer service very poor, Distant Journeys you have badly let yourselves down.

I have had an excellent experience booking my next adventure with Distant Journeys. The tour advisor was only to happy to answer all my questions and guide me through the small print without attempting to push me into making a booking. In my opinion that in itself is the hallmark of a company that holds itself to high standards.

Fabulous travel company
Having been on an amazing trip last February to Southern India with Distant Journeys on a solo holiday, I decided to dip my toe in the water again. I want to visit Vietnam and Cambodia as well as Sri Lanka. Having visited all the main tour operators for solo holidays, Distant Journeys stood out head and shoulders above their competitors.
Their booking process is so easy. The staff couldn't be more helpful it was a pleasure to spend my money 😀.
Looking forward to enjoying two more adventures with Distant Journeys early next year.

I have found Distant Journeys very good
I have found Distant Journeys to be very good to travel with. This is to be our second trip with them currently booked for next year. This next trip clearly looks like a great holiday to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.
I found the agent, Jay, very helpful and any queries were answered as quickly as possible by him either by phone or email.
He enabled me to take my time and ensure that anything I was unsure of was cleared up before the deposit was paid.
Last year we travelled via Singapore to New Zealand and Australia. This too proved to be a great experience.
All in all very professional.

India is a must see holiday of a lifetime!!!!
We have just returned home from the 25 day Grand tour of India, tired but with some fantastic memories.
India is a huge country so you have to do a lot of travelling to see it all but we looked forward to every new location as our hotels were simply stunning and all very different.
From seeing a monkey trying to get into our room in Shimla to swimming in a pool watching Weaver birds make their nests in Ramthanbore.
India is such a contrasting country with every place we visited being so very different as were the people together with the craziest traffic I have ever seen and yet never saw one accident.
The holiday was fantastically organised with a superb tour manager in VP who made the holiday a different level of experience and enjoyment.
I think the Golden Temple experience was the highlight closely followed by obviously the Taj Mahal a true wonder of the world.
This was our first experience of Distant Journeys and I can honestly say it was a 5* experience all the way and our holiday will live long in the memory.
I doubt we will revisit India again so I’m glad we got to see so much of this fascinating country including seeing a Bollywood movie and sleeping on a houseboat. However the best part was meeting some great people on our holiday who made it extra special and I think we have made new lifelong friends.

Amazing company with exceptional customer service
My son went on a tour to Japan last year and loved it. Fully escorted with very informative guides. He’s now on the India tour and had problems with his luggage due to missing a connecting flight. Distant journeys have given amazing customer service in locating and retrieving his luggage. I am a seasoned traveller and have never experienced such exceptional customer service, with staff who go over and beyond! He’s now going to book South America as he’s that impressed.

Just booked my next trip with Distant Journeys following a fantastic trip to Vietnam and Cambodia earlier this year. Excellent customer experience, to date!
In the pre booking process, brochure was very impressive, contact by phone and email was super easy. Jack was friendly, helpful and professional throughout. He was also extremely responsive in answering emails. It was a pleasure to deal with him!
Arin dealt with a couple of post booking queries efficiently and clearly, too.
The website is fantastic, and the facility to flick through the itinerary, day by day, and to view the hotels we will be staying in, is extremely helpful.Optional excursions are well documented at the bottom of the tour page, under Freedom Days.
We haven't travelled yet, so can't comment on the overall experience, but the itinerary looks amazing, prices are competitive, and, so far, with no long waits for information or responses, and friendly, supportive staff, every aspect of our customer interaction has been perfect!
We would highly recommend them!

We went on the Very Best of Australia tour in April 2026.
Everything was fantastic and worked very well. There was nothing to dislike.
The only hitch was the latest Gulf War starting at the same time, which necessitated changing flights. This was done without much fuss, and, given the volume of work the guys had to cope with at the time, was extremely well handled.
Just booked the Ecuador and Galapagos trip for next November, which was done very easily and the few questions I had answered straight away.
Given my experiences to date I have no hesitation recommending Distant Journeys,

Lovely tour and DJ went the extra mile
Excellent tour schedule with reasonable cost. Distant Journeys organised and discharged a wonderful tour (New Zealand and Australia). Tour guides very professional. A few issues (not of DJ making) were quickly and efficiently rsolved. Particularly impressed with essential rearrangements when Cook Straight Ferry cancelled and middle Eastern airports out of bounds due to USA/Iran conflict
