What a great way to sell your car!
We sold our VW Transporter on Car & Classic this month (September 2026). A really easy process to take the photos, upload, create a listing and then prospective buyers contact you with any questions or offers via either email or phone (your details are kept confidential). We had over 1700 views, 2 queries, then a buyer with 4 weeks. All smooth running. Car & Classic offer an auction service too (at a much higher cost) but we didn’t use that and sold our Camper with ease. We will use in future 🙂

Great service and immediate payment
Good service and an efficient way of selling a car. Very prompt payment and a reasonable charge system including very good and detailed photos for the auction. You rarely get the very best price in an auction but if you want to sell and not wait for months while accommodating none buyers looking at your car this is the way to go

Super handling of both a purchase and a sale. Generous too. I will have no hesitation returning to this site and buying again. My sale was concluded with cash in my bank less than an hour after my buyer clicked on the button, ' keys etc in order.' The costs involved are minimal too.

If at first you fail keep trying
First time I tried to sell my car it just failed to reach reserve but they did try interest others In it , one said he’d come view and didn’t another met me and was keen but just didn’t like the colour of the interior . So I kept it and tried it again a few months later . Not mum did it meet its reserve but went into sell well over the reserve . Message is if it fails first time don’t give up and keep trying .

Selling your vehicle through Cars and Classics auction is a great idea & simplifies what could be a complicated process.
I dealt with a very helpful member of the team, Joe Stockton, who made the whole process extremely easy.
From the initial enquiry, pricing, strategy and execution - a very valuable and helpful member of the team.
From booking the photographer, who took 154 photos and a video of the car to the pre-launch then the actual 7 day auction.
I set a ‘reserve’ and the car was viewed and subsequently saved by over 200 interested parties, resulting in a sale.
Importantly , C&C have a brilliant system that allows the buyer to lodge the funds in Escrow that are released to the buyer on handover of the vehicle.
If you are considering selling your classic, I can thoroughly recommend this Company.

Delayed refunds and additional fees
Was the successful bidder on an S-type Jaguar and paid in full + the £525 “Service Charge” or 9.3% of the purchase price + the £600 + vat sellers commission paid by the vendor. Transpires that paperwork isn’t in order and will take 4 to 6 weeks to sort. Deal unwound and £5,800 purchase price refunded after waiting two week to allow vendor to get paperwork sorted. But I am still waiting for my £525 “Service Charge”. I have used C&C as a seller in the past and have been reasonably happy. But the introduction of a BUYERS FEE (which isn’t mentioned until you go to place a bid) in addition to the 6.5% or £600 minimum sellers commission is extracting the Michael. And taking over three weeks to refund a buyers fee, is just unacceptable.

Given your previous experience with Car & Classic, we appreciate that this was outside what you would normally expect from us, and we apologise. This was an unfortunate delay during an exceptionally busy period, and we’ve since made adjustments to help speed up the refund process.
Importantly, your purchase funds remained securely held in escrow while the paperwork issue was being dealt with. Our team were able to step in, unwind the transaction and return the £5,800 to you, so you were not left out of pocket while the situation with the seller was resolved.
With regard to the buyer service charge, this is communicated across our support pages, FAQs and guides, and must also be acknowledged before a bid can be placed. We appreciate your feedback on how this is presented and will review whether there are further ways we can make the charge even clearer to buyers.
