I have known about car and classic for…
I have known about car and classic for years, but I never used the service until now. I advertised my vehicle with them opting for a 7 day auction and the vehicle sold. I can easily say it is the most professional company, punctual, responsive, and provided fantastic customer service. The photographer that was sent to my property who took pictures of my vehicle to car and classic staff who I communicated with both phone and email were phenomenal and very helpful. James is one of the best. I will use the service again very soon. Thank you car and classic.

The auction system features a serious…
The auction system features a serious design flaw regarding how bids are processed and incremented.
During the final minutes of bidding on a vehicle, the interface permitted a massive price jump of nearly £2,000 against no active opposition, completely skipping standard incremental bidding rules even though the seller’s reserve price had already been met. The platform failed to provide adequate safeguards or a confirmation warning before advancing the active price against zero competing proxy bids.
While customer support ultimately stepped in to manually adjust the invoice with the vendor, the lack of transparency in the active bidding layout makes the process unnecessarily risky. The platform mechanics require a major overhaul to prevent artificial price inflation.

We’re sorry to hear that the bidding process left you feeling concerned about how the price was being advanced. The behaviour of bids is determined by the type of bid a user submits, which can result in larger increases where a proxy bid has been placed.
That said, this is the first time we’ve received feedback around the way this can appear during the final stages of an auction. We’re very appreciative of the time you’ve taken to explain your experience, and we’ll review the way this is communicated and look at where we can make the bidding mechanics clearer for users.
We’re also pleased that our support team were able to step in and adjust the invoice with the seller once the issue was raised.

Excellent service from Ed Spence at Car & Classic
I recently sold my Audi R8 V10 Spyder through Car & Classic and had a very positive experience from start to finish.
Ed Spence looked after me throughout the process and was excellent to deal with. He was professional, approachable and always available when I had questions, particularly around the auction, payment and collection process.
As this was the first time I’d sold a car of this value through an online auction, having Ed available throughout gave me a lot of confidence.
Payment through the secure escrow system was straightforward and everything went exactly as explained.

If I Could Give Them 6 Stars I Would
Selling my much-loved car needed an enthusiast who would appreciate the rare quality of my car, which took me to Car & Classic.
They were amazing to deal with and found exactly the niche buyers I wanted. Their Josh Haines was an invaluable help to me and I called him my 'auction guru'. Even the buyer was a pleasure to deal with suggesting that they really do attract the best kind of people.
Their system is slick and polished and completely safe for both buyers and sellers. Once they were notified the car had been handed over the sale proceeds were transferred to my account in seconds.
