Reasonable products; poor systems

Products offered are reasonable to good from a depositor perspective. The online systems are poor;

1. IP address retention option doesn't work, especially annoying as the customer number is a YBS determined 10 digit numeric.
2. Password option also decidedly not user friendly as random 3 characters from a YBS determined 12 character lower/upper case 12 alpha numeric.
3. Transfer in page inadequate especially as regards the known or should be known requirements transferee other financial providers included int he YBS drop down box. Why YBS choose to make it difficult for already tax exempt funds to be transferred to them beyond me.

It was a good experience.

It was a good experience, but really no more than we expected.The explanations were clear, the instructions easily understood, and the outcome was what we were looking for.
In other words, two customers achieving what they wanted from two staff members who knew their jobs.

Waste of time trying to open an account at Eastbourne

Went into Eastbourne branch to open an fixed rate bond account that pays interest monthly. This can only be done at a branch. I planed my morning to sort this and deposit a significant amount in the account. On arrival, I was told that they don't open these accounts on a Saturday and I was offered a week day appointment which was no use to me as I work. So an absolute waste of my time and made me annoyed with myself for trying to support a local branch, which I appreciate are always under threat of closure. Anyway, I'll bite the bullet and open an account with Marcus now. They pay interest annually at 4.9% compared with 4.4% monthly interest payments at YBS but it's obviously not possible to deal with Yorkshire!

Tried to open a savings account online

Tried to open a savings account online, had a confirmation email but was unable to login online. Spent an interminable amount of time on the phone attempting to resolve the problem but gave up.

Mobile v Online

I liked the way that it was clear regarding the difference between online and mobile methods for managing my savings. All was clear in this respect unlike most of the banks who seem to insist on me using mobile rather than online methods. I ended up ditching them in frustration and settled for the YBS instead; it also has a decent interest rate and flexibility for mobility of my savings. Well done YBS
