Four years ago, a professional, knowledgeable and experienced advisor and (possibly a founder of TPO) Laetitia, set up a $1M NZD portfolio for me to meet the requirements of a Conditional NZ Residency Visa before she left the company. To preserve my capital, she put my funds into bonds that would not touched for 4 years. TPO didn't have to do anything but still charged me tens of thousands in fees. Due to changes in interest and USD to NZD currency exchange rates, I sadly lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The advisor who replaced Laetitia, Dan Weale, was professional and responsive but he left TPO at time my visa conditions were met and my money was free to be invested better. I tried to get a new broker but all I got was a new Administrative Assistant, Sharmin, so I was left hanging. Eventually, I gave up and moved my money back to the US. In prose rather than any computer documention, Sharmin, emailed that TPO was keeping over $5k of my money for future "expenses," etc. When I balked and asked for an accounting of alleged "expenses," she brought it down to $300. When I told her to send the $300 to me, she wrote that it was only $150. When I asked to speak to and I emailed the Managing Director, I got no reponse. When I told her to send the full $300 to me, she paid only $150 and wrote they'd keep $100. When I told her to send the $100 to me, she emailed that the account had already been closed with a $0 balance. What !! ?? I have no way of fighting them and can't believe any professional company would risk damaging their reputation for a measly $100??

Following the first introduction the adviser got to grips with our needs which were not straightforward. Afte4r some considerable research they were able to find a couple of lenders for Home Equity that would accept out particular property set up (a holiday let co located with the main property).

Once an offer was produced I was kept fully informed of progress and any procedural questions I raised were dealt with promptly and efficiently by the back office.

A very informative couple of sessions with David and Grace. I received good solid advice that underpinned some initial planning I had done. They where able to validate some of my thinking and also give me a number of alternative scenarios. Provided very detailed prese tation and followed up with a detailed written report on each scenarios and recommendations.

I have been a customer with TPO for over a year and a half. They leave you to manage everything - after a full year of trying I still haven't managed to make contributions to my pension. I get left to do everything myself with zero help and they never follow up to check everything is working. You have to chase them constantly - and the responses are perfunctory at best. Avoid

The Private Office has been helping me with my finances for many years now, and I have always found them approachable, helpful and knowledgeable. He is friendly, understands my personal needs, and also what my future needs might be, including my worries over inheritance tax implications.
