They've let me down twice, fool of me

Addendum to original review:
As Allstate replied to my review I emailed them. They confirmed the issue was persisting and made me whole for my PlayStation 5 purchase price. I appreciate their follow up and have elevated my review to 4 stars for their prompt resolving of my issue. I will leave the original review because had I not complained here would my issue have ever been resolved?

Second time I've needed to file a claim with my WalMart purchased Squaretrade/Allstate coverage and second time they've said I'm SOL.

In this instance my PS5 is having a severe overheating issue. First time I send it in they swap out a part and clean it and send it back. Nothing had changed, still overheating (and quickly). I send it back again and this time they say they can't replicate the issue so they're sending it right back. EVERY GAME makes my PlayStation 5 overheat and they can't replicate it. ?????

Poor customer service & repair of laptop

I file a claim for a laptop in November 2025. We communicated on the phone & via emails. Laptop was sent to the technical department as per request on 2 occasions. The first time it was sent, they returned it stating that it was repaired, but upon receipt the laptop still had a blank screen. We called again several times. This time they requested for us to send the laptop back for repair. I’m still waiting to get the “repaired laptop” back, this time they stated they are trying to say it has water damage, despite the fact that this laptop has never been close to any water. So as today, 3/19/26 ,I am still waiting. They sent an email today stating they are waiting for parts to come in. I am very disappointed with them.

Terrible customer service and laptop repair

Terrible customer service and laptop repair. I bought laptop from Newegg and the $359 extended warranty. With a 5 business day repair guarantee. This is my daughters college laptop And they have had it for almost 10 business days And every time I call in they state that I will receive update with in 1 business day. I've received zero updates and they lie and do not honor the 5 day guarantee. Do not purchase squaretrade or allstate warranties because they will not honor any for the guarantees. They will string you on and on. Buy the company warranty from the store i.e. best buy, lowes etc but not allstate or squaretrade. Every person I've spoken to about repair can barely speak English and they repeat exact same words every time, which me they are reading from a script the is prepared for them. Every question I ask I receive exact same answer from every person I ask that question. They are not really customer service they are paid script readers and stallers. They job is just to stall you and get you off phone until the can get cheap parts from overseas to patch ur item back together. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. UPDATE, I GOT A PHONE CALL TONIGHT AND WAS GUARANTEED A FOLLOW UP WITH RESOLUTION TOMORROW. I WILL KEEP THIS POST UPDATED. THEY SAID IF NOTHING BY TOMORROW THEY WILL PAY ME FOR LAPTOP PLUS THE 5 DAY GUARANTEE. WE WILL SEE. STAY TUNED.

Never again

Edit to update:
I made contact with customer service after leaving my review. They are planning on making this right with the caveat that this is the exception not the rule. I would warn against purchasing the plan on anything that may break, causing you to "lose" any piece of the item. The agent did do a great job of diligently trying to reach out to me considering Verizon kept blocking his call. For this, I have added two stars to my review.

I purchased a Petsafe collar for an in ground fence. The receiver broke and fell off. Can't find it. The only thing I had was the prongs and connecting plastic threading. They considered it lost despite the fact that it was lost/fell off BECAUSE IT BROKE. this was during normal use. I usually but these with everything. I won't be doing that anymore.

Just because my new phone was given…

Just because by new phone was given different insurance company, Allstate has refuse to pay for my old phone that had cracked screen and quit functioning properly. Allstate was paid to cover the old phone not the new phone. They sent me a replacement but it was defective, so sent it back. There wasn't the same phone avail as ble so I had to buy next mod we l up but it was same price as the initial replacement.

UPDATE ON MY ORIGINAL REVIEW
On March 13, I received an email saying I need to upload more pictures and videos showing the problem. I did as requested. On Monday, March 16 I received an email saying I have an appointment with a technician on Monday, March 23 and that I will have parts shipped to me. There is no indication how many parts and when they will arrive. Later that day I received another email saying the parts will be delayed and they will send me a separate email to track the parts. The email goes on to say it is my responsibility to track the parts and reschedule my appointment directly with the tech. REALLY? After their technician broke my dishwasher, that's the best you can do. Today I received two boxes of parts. Mind you, I still don't know how many I'm supposed to receive. I call into customer service and they tell me I should expect 3 parts. We confirm that I have 2 out of the 3. Customer service cannot give me an estimate of when I can expect the third part. I ask for an escalation to the "Parts Team." Why I have to request an escalation at this point is beyond me. Remember I filed a claim on March 3. My account should be one big red flag when I call in.
The lack of urgency and communication is laughable at this point. If you are ever offered a warranty that is supported by Squaretrade, DO NOT buy it.

ORIGINAL REVIEW
I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with SquareTrade (the vendor handling my Allstate Protection Plan) has been extremely frustrating.
About five years ago, I purchased a GE dishwasher from Home Depot. I normally don’t buy protection plans, but I decided to spend about $160 on the Allstate Protection Plan for peace of mind. Unfortunately, when I finally needed it, the service experience has been very disappointing.
The issue began when the lower washer arm came into contact with the heating element and melted. I filed a claim with SquareTrade on March 3. The earliest technician appointment available was March 9. The technician arrived and replaced the lower washer arm and heating element, but he did not run a full test cycle before leaving.
Assuming the repair had been tested, we later loaded the dishwasher with dishes and started a cycle—only to discover that it wasn’t working at all. There was no water circulating. It appears the technician may have disturbed the circulation pump while working around the heating element.
I called SquareTrade the morning of March 10 to report that the dishwasher was still not functioning. I was told they needed the technician’s report before they could take any action and that I should hear back within one business day.
On March 11, I called again and was told they still had not received the technician’s report but that I should hear something within one to two business days.
Today is March 13, and after calling yet again, I was told they still do not have the technician’s report.
This is unacceptable. The technician’s report will likely state that the dishwasher was working when he left. However, as the customer, I can clearly state that it has not worked since the repair visit. Meanwhile, I’m stuck waiting indefinitely while SquareTrade says they cannot proceed without paperwork from their own contractor.
I paid for a protection plan specifically to avoid situations like this. Unfortunately, the lack of urgency, accountability, and customer service has made this process far more frustrating than the original problem.

Terrible

Terrible, Frustrating, and Possibly Fraudulent Service!

I had the absolute worst experience with Allstate. I was charged $79.98 for a phone protection plan through my carrier. When I needed to file a claim, they hit me with an additional $93.88 service fee for a repair, after I spent tens of hours on the phone and countless emails chasing them.

To make matters worse, they declined my claim and still refused to refund the money properly. They deducted both the plan and service fees, leaving me to continue chasing them endlessly for a resolution.

This has been the most stressful and infuriating experience I’ve ever had. I do NOT recommend SquareTrade under any circumstances. Save yourself the headache—avoid this company.

Repair done swiftly and smoothly

Once it was verified that Allstate was indeed supposed to cover the repair of our VCR/DVD unit, everything went smoothly and swiftly. We received our unit back repaired and running as good as new. Thank you Allstate and Squaretrade.
