A Complete Scam – Absolute Incompetence and Negligence

I rely on these $400 ANC headphones daily to maintain focus in a high-stress, deadline-driven copy-editing environment, and Allstate’s "protection" plan has been nothing but a masterclass in sheer incompetence.

My Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphones had their Bluetooth radio and LEDs entirely bricked by a firmware update. I sent them to Allstate twice with incredibly clear, idiot-proof notes detailing exactly what was broken. Instead of doing their jobs, the remarkably lazy technicians clearly just plugged the headset into a PC via USB-C, saw the device name pop up, heard the wired power-stage noise, and shipped them right back. They didn't even bother to test the actual Bluetooth functionality or the dead LED lights on a pair of wireless headphones.

It is an absolute joke. These employees are essentially stealing from Allstate by getting paid to rubber-stamp fake diagnostic checks, while I am now forced to pay out of pocket to replace my own equipment. Buying an Allstate protection plan is essentially paying a premium just to have your blood pressure skyrocket dealing with blatant negligence and absolute zero technical literacy. Save your money and do not bother with this scam.

Worst experience I have ever had

Worst experience I have ever had. Bought 3rd party warranty from Costco. Drain pump failed on washer, they sent parts to me and scheduled a tech 1.5 weeks later. Tech shows, all state didn't send a replacement drain pump. I wait another 3 days for a reply from all state where they try to tell me they will no provide more service and its fine. I am still fighting with them and Costco. Why buy a warranty if Allstate doesn't honor it? Shame on you Costco and Allstate.

I purchased an Allstate SquareTrade…

I purchased an Allstate SquareTrade warranty plan for an above-ground pool, and my experience has been frustrating from start to finish.

When I first filed a claim, I was instructed to contact the manufacturer directly. That alone was a challenge—it was difficult to even get in touch with them, and when I finally did, they were unable to resolve the issue. I then went back to Allstate, expecting the warranty I paid for to actually step in and help.

Instead, I spent over three days on the phone with different customer service representatives. It quickly became clear that they were not carefully reviewing the notes on my account. I kept being given the same troubleshooting suggestions that had already been tried and failed, which made the whole process feel repetitive and unproductive.

Eventually, they determined that a part needed to be replaced. Rather than sending the replacement directly, I was told to purchase the part myself—about $250—with the promise that I would be reimbursed once I submitted the receipt.

After more back-and-forth, instead of reimbursing me properly, they sent a $250 Walmart gift card. This was incredibly disappointing. I ended up paying an additional $250 out of pocket on top of an item that originally cost me nearly $800. Receiving a store gift card instead of a proper reimbursement felt misleading and unfair.

Overall, the process was time-consuming, poorly coordinated, and did not meet expectations for a warranty service. I would strongly reconsider purchasing a plan like this again.

In any case that involves reimbursement, we find issuing the payment via an electronic gift card decreases the length of time a consumer has to wait for their funds. Although a lot of consumers favor this option due to the quick turnaround, others may not, as it was in this case.

If I could give a negative review below one star I totally would. I have received nothing but constant this is a specifically AD issue. But then I have to read the manual to find out what AD means. Which tells me that it's an accidental damage. Which never occurred but refuses to be accepted. As supervisor gets on the phone and then decides to hang up on me because she doesn't want to answer my questions or she's already answered them and I just need to get over myself. Really? What kind of customer service is this company none at all at this point! I used to get great service years ago. Same phone same issue is now no longer repairable by them. If you're losing money don't keep offering service that you can't afford to provide. I now have a broken phone with insurance I can't use. Tell me how that's helpful?

Allstate Protection Plan (Home Depot) has been a nightmare!

To summarize, I'm now on week 4 of dealing with trying to get my washer fixed. My blood is boiling trying to deal with them. Today is April 18, the claim was initiated on March 23rd and as of now I don't have a tech scheduled to come out! This Home Depot Warranty through Allstate has been a joke!!!! in my opinion its not worth the money!

Purchased a protection plan via Square…

Purchased a protection plan via Square Trade with Allstate for warranty coverage for a cell phone. I sent in my phone for a battery replacement. Phone was in working condition prior to sending the phone. Instead of repairing my phone, they recycled it for parts as the repair would be more than the cost of the phone. I was not informed of this decision initially and called to have the phone sent back to me to repair. This was not an option. This is not a repair company but rather a way to continue to sell consumers' devices for parts.

Buyer be ware

Buyer be ware, they will not replace lost phones. They do not offer used replacements, and there is a high deductible. It’s cheaper to save the mount fee and deductible and just go get the phone repaired or replaced yourself. They can be hard to get ahold of and when you speak to someone they barely understand English. I canceled both plans over the phone and got verbal confirmation both plans were canceled, they proceeded to charge my account for the second phone(hopping you don’t notice). Make sure you verify everything was canceled! If you call them on the date they charge your card it’s too late, you’re already suckered into the monthly fee. I would highly recommend you to look elsewhere.

They don't honor the warranty

I purchased a television for my grandmother and it does not work, they refuse to honor the protection plan. I asked for the agent to provide his information and he refuse. My grandmother has been without a television for a week! I have provided them with the service plan number and TC#.

This protection plan is a waste of…Time and money

This protection plan is a waste of money. I paid for coverage expecting support, but when my furniture started peeling and deteriorating, my claim was denied because it still “works.”

This is furniture, not a car or an electronic device. That explanation is completely unacceptable.

The customer service experience was even worse. I spoke with a supervisor named Valentina, who was rude, dismissive, and showed no interest in helping or resolving the issue.

If visible damage and deterioration are not covered, then what exactly is the purpose of this protection plan?

I will be escalating this issue to consumer protection agencies and sharing my experience publicly. Buyers beware.

I’ve decided to change my one star review for Allstate to a five star review based on the prompt help and assistance by Talal, Allstate’s Escalation Analyst - Corporate Resolutions Team. I received an email response after the weekend on the first business day. Very professional, customer friendly, and right to the point of the issue at hand. Talal helped me receive my check for an item purchased from eBay with an Allstate warranty 2 year plan. No beating around the bush, straight to the point, with a positive resolution. digitally and when it was time for me to use it, I couldn't find it because of the over 20,000 emails in my inbox. When I asked if they could resend it, I heard from noone.

Horrid Company

Horrid company to deal with. Paid the monthly insurance on an iPhone for 2.5 years. When we finally needed the coverage, they sent us a refurbished phone with non-Apple parts so the phone didn't work correctly. It completely failed on us about 6 weeks after receiving from Allstate. They told us the "new" phone was only protected for 30 days and told us to pound sand. To make matters a tad worse, we would've received a much better price on a new phone traded in with AT&T on the original phone, but Allstate has that one now! All in all this is the single worst company we've ever encountered. It should be illegal how they conduct business, if you call it that. Highly unethical, and cost us hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
