I replaced my Roku Ultra recently because mu Roku directed me to and I began having problems with my new device that I did not have with previous one. My Roku is connected to a Samsung TV. Semi-frequently my app (Prime, YouTube, and Nexflex) will not play videos. I get an error message that say, the "video will not play now, try again later or go to Amazon.com(???)..." I wanted to share my experience with my recently purchased Roku that has decrease my satisfaction with Roku.
What's their issue
I called to have something on my Roku account fixed, I was charged for my subscription then couldn't access what I paid for, called roku 6 times to try and have it resolved and they hung up on me all 6 time about 8 minutes into the call. I used to love their service and now, Ive unsubscribed from everything and will NOT be reactivating my account. This is the 5th time this year this has happened with something I have subscribed to and I've been a customer of thiers for almost 10 years. Don't bother trying to contact them. They will ask all your info, try to "help" then just hang up when they can't figure out what's wrong. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would.
Useless
We bought a Roku TV streaming stick and it’s USELESS. It does not stream Channel 4 or Channel 5. According to one of their customer service reps (via the chat function), this is a known problem. Googling this issue, it seems it has been a known problem for some time, yet Roku has done absolutely nothing to fix the issue. Don’t waste your money!

This is what happened. The live TV guide said fantasy Island would be on the get TV channel and another show was. I have updated the software and restarted my device and gave them my serial number and support was not helpful. On the positive I have enjoyed the other apps. Please fix the issue.

Poorest Customer Service
This review is for Customer Service and ease of use in managing my account. Frankly, it was IMPOSSIBLE to make a change to one of my subscriptions through ROKU. BritBox was just as bad. The website kept telling me to go through ROKU and ROKU had no option to let me make a change. I was on the App, my TV, and my computer all to no avail. It was a wild goose chase! I finally resorted to chat, but the ROKU representative didn't know how to help me at all and took forever to try to get me to a specialist. I quit the chat before that happened! Today, I finally got a phone number for ROKU and hopefully will be able to resolve my issue. If not, I will be looking for another streaming service and may drop BritBox as well since its Customer Service has been nonexistent as well.
Roku has no telephone customer support
Roku has no telephone customer support. You cant interact with someone, just their ai chat bot. It is little wonder their company stock is in the toilet. I bought a new voice control, hooked it up to the TV, and all it says is I have a weak signal. All my other tvs hooked to Roku working fine. But just try and find a human to talk to. Can’t get help, they don’t care about end user. No wonder their stock is in the toilet. Iahve to get away from this crap company.

Roku does not deserve one star I recently signed up for 2 month 99 cent promotion on July 3rd of 2025 they took $15.79 from my account for July when August came they took the full amount for Starz and Paramount I had a 99 cent promotion for 2 months I called customer service and they said it was prorated. Regardless I had a 2-month 99 cent promotion for stars and Paramount, mind you I already have a monthly subscription for bet Plus so it was a total of $34 and some change taken from my account by mistake and they're trying really hard not to refund me my money, they acting like they don't speak no English now!!!

After going through 2 Roku sticks in 2 days I'd say they are junk. Problems are over heating, sound low or poor quality, apps do not open, no picture only sound, remote freezes and just pure frustration with this device. Thanks to Amazon I have a quick refund for this junk. I'll be looking into a Fire stick.

Where to start with this crappy tv, well besides the fact that you can't get basic apps like 10play,foxtel go,and 7plus just to name a few very basic apps the tv developed a fault the 2nd day i managed to fix this myself but who wants a brand new tv to have a fault that quick it does not bode well for the longevity of this tv. I am going to lose money returning this heap of junk but rather that than keep it. Please rethink if you are looking to buy
Customer service is limited
Customer service is limited. There was a charge I had not seen nor made and they were unable to take it off. I can dispute via my credit card but it just unfortunate that they were unwilling to make this right after years of using the service.

Had a Roku adaptor for 3 years and have no problem with actual streaming BUT -1star for poor customer service.
Other than this, Roku works perfectly fine with lots of free apps and movies

Updated roku app, now it is impossible to get local TV over air stations. Roku tv and app are 100% terrible. We Will BE THROWING THE CRAPPY ROKU TV INTO THE TRASH AND WILL NEVER buy a roku again, ever!!!!
The roku tv app update is very pernicious, and roku's so-called update made our $500 'smart' TV worthless.

Making your commercials twice as loud as the program has taken your star review from a 4 out of 5 to a 2 out of 5. What would be a top rated app. is now at the bottom. It disrupts the entire room I'm watching the program in. I have to keep the remote in my hand to mute it every 15 minutes when you run the same damn commercial I saw 15 minutes ago. Now I just mute it. So the people that are paying you to show their products are not being heard. Whomever came up with this idea should be fired.

Wireless audio will crash your Roku! All the time, since the very first release.
I have no issues with the picture quality, the unit's performance regarding speed, etc. If everything was ok, it would have been a 5 star rating. However.... I've been using Roku devices in their various iterations since the beginning, and connected to my Sony Bravia. Here's what makes this LESS than one star, actually it would be a very large negative number. Here's the star killer: 1) 'wireless' audio through my iphone/airpods creates constant crashes and freezes. If you put wireless audio on WITHIN a show, it works. However, if you go to another streaming app on the Roku device, that's where things go horribly wrong and it crashes. Then, you'll have the nasty NASTY experience of burning your clock trying to get that back working again! 2). If you turn wireless audio on, when looking at the Roku's 'home page', or launching interface, then go into a show, well, you'll have to see for yourself. It'll work, until it doesn't matter! This device will let you down completely and is similiar to the quality found on temu, selling ultra low quality streaming garbage. It's a hunk of junk. Don't waste your time, health (stress!) and anger (yeah that's a health issue too). You know what really gets my goat? That Roku KNOWS about this, because if it happenejd to me, it already happened to every single Roku owner since the very first release. That's immoral, unethical, and quite frankly, a scam at this point. . And now, on to the Apple TV review. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is a very good device. We'll see.

I bought Roku streaming stick in November.
It was advertised as better than fire stick.
It worked for about a week before the voice activated remote control began to fail.
I changed batteries every couple of weeks after that until it completely failed in June.
I contacted Roku through their website chat room and each time they went through the same routine instructions until they ran out of ideas and disconnected the chat.
It's a TOTAL FAKE SCAMMING COMPANY with the worst reviews.
