I bought a Roku 50-in Smart TV today. When I brought it home I had difficulty connecting it to my Wi-Fi. The first person I spoke with kept me on the phone for 50 minutes, telling me to unplug and plug my TV back in, unplug and plug my Wi-Fi back in. I had done that before calling, but to placate them I did it anyway. This did not fix the problem. Then she asked if I still had the receipt and suggested that I should return the TV to the store saying that maybe it was dysfunctional. Then she asked if I had a son, or neighbor that could help me insinuating that I was old and feeble. I explained to her that I am a senior, but I worked in corporate America for 40 years and connecting devices to the internet was not foreign to me. I asked for the call to be escalated requesting to be sent to the US. When I was transferred I questioned if he was in the US, the assistant said no. I asked if I could be sent to the US and he said no. He asked the same insane questions. Then he said the error message I was getting was a known problem and that many people were having it. He said he would report it to the technical/engineering department and that my TV would be fixed. When I questioned how are you going to fix it if it's not connected to the internet? He continued to repeat that it would be fixed. I said that's absolutely insane there is no way you have access to my TV if it is not connected to the internet. When I began to get upset he said that he would need to end this call. Again, I requested to speak to someone in the US and he refused. I am so tired of corporate America sending their technical support offshore somewhere where they really don't care and refuse to help.
I later called Verizon my internet carrier and they helped me in 5 minutes. They're representative was from the US. If I had not made that call, I would have returned the Roku TV to the store and bought something different. Is that what Roku really wants? I think all tech companies should keep their tech support and then US where we Americans can actually get help.

I write this in mid May 2026. The recent update is horrible. Live TV used to allow the last two channels that you visited to be listed at the top of the scrollbar. The recent update removed that option and now I have to search up and down the channel list define the two channels that I most frequently use. This was a poor decision on the developers.

Commercials every 7 min
Used Roku device for several years; liked them enough to buy a Roku TV. Lots of programs to choose from - and everyone knows, "free" TV means commercials - which on Roku, used to be at the beginning & end of a program, with an occasional extra set in longer shows.
Now however, there are 2-3 minutes of commericals every 7-8 minutes. Without fail. With no regard as to when they interrupt the program.
More than a few commercials are for the Roku paid subscription channels "no commercials." (Yeah we know how that works - they tried that Hokum with cable TV when it came out.)
I don't watch a lot of TV. I refuse to pay for TV. If Roku thinks incessant commercials will get me to pay for one of their paid channels, they're wrong. I'll just quit Roku.
I have PBS & can get Disney/Hulu free through my grocery store "boost" program. I never set it up because I don't watch enough TV but I'm about ready to switch. I'll give my Roku "Smart TV" away. They aren't smart at all.
Roku Tech support
I purchased my third Roku 4K stick on March 30th it arrived a couple a couple of days ago later and I installed it. On May first the unit just stopped working and after extensive testing it was determined that the stick itself was faulty. The attempted of having the new stick replaced under warranty started with me having to chat with a on the Roku site. After dealing with the Bot for the first part of my morning I finally spoke with a live person which lasted another good part of Mother’s Day. The technician I was speaking with had me doing all types of trouble shooting and nothing was working. After being put on hold numerous times I was transferred to yet another technician who was expecting me to once again trouble shoot the same thing that I had already done with the previous Tech. Once again I wasted a good part on my day with Roku tech support and simply got nowhere. I now own a brand new Roku Stick that under warranty that does not work and will not be replaced because Roku tech support will not stand behind there products and products. I was not looking for a refund I just wanted a replacement. Shame on you ROKU!!!! I guess Fire Stick has been and will be the way to go moving forward.
ROKU LIVE TV is a big lie
ROKU is a big lie! There is no "live tv". Shows under the live TV heading are NOT LIVE at sll. The live news channels show programs that aired live days and even weeks ago. Very disappointed and ready to go back to cable TV to see breaking news as it breaks!
Roku Ultra
Just bought the Roku Ultra on recent visit to USA it can not receive BBC iPlayer when used in the UK. I have the Roku Streaming USB Stick and this plays BBC iPlayer fine. Beware if tempted to buy the Ultra and watch BBC iPlayer.
Horrible service, worse customer servive

I haven't been contacted and it's still no resolved. Their product used to be good, but now it's not, and there's no one you can reach to get any help.

Roku stole money! They raided my banking account for a subscription THEY started, I didn't! I had to get rid of them.

On April 28 in the afternoon "Ace" was sthe woman who helped me around 4 PM. She actually enjoyed trying and insisting I go through my tv settings and "trouble shoot" a damaged product I received! I kept telling her the buttons were all glued down as in "stuck" but she said we must trouble shoot. There was no way to trouble shoot. I told her my other tv's all have working rokus but this kdamaged product just received does not work on any of them. I could "hear" a smile...she was enjoying the fact that I told her I had been on the phone with roku regarding a simple free return label so I could get a remote that worked, she appeared to the "the one" a customer who "knows toomuch" is sent to to see if Ace can wear the customer out. I learned a lot about current corporate behavior. I hope Roku will listen to the recording and discipline if not fire Ace. I will not use roku again...after years and years as a customer the same year they started up.

ROKU is absolutely the worst! I dont think Ive ever hated a company more. You cant even enjoy a movie because there are over 30 commercials every 5min. The commercials are obnoxious and stupid. I wont use it anymore for anything. Corporations like this ruin entertainment because they treat their customers like mindless ATMs. I hope they go bankrupt!
Terrible all the way around
I have had multiple experiences with Roku and none of them were good. Everything was terrible, they put you into a never ending circle to get any information. Then they say "turn off auto-renew" but it doesn't just turn that off, it cancels your subscription. Even the customer service agents were rude and said they couldn't help, even though I did everything through them. Not to mention it took days to get a .

Roku is Incompetent
Had inadvertently created 2 accounts. Got 1 closed 6 months or so ago -- or so I thought. Kept getting charged for same app - once for each account. Tried to work with Roku to get second account shut down again. Same thing 2 or 3 months later. Only 1 subscription remains using Roku. The cancelled account is now a digital Zombie. No matter who I talk with or what I do the "deleted" account keeps on keeping on. Just received an email regarding new subscription for same app in deleted account. How do I kill this? Firing squad, drowning, poisoning, knives, smothering?? Any and all suggestions on this FUBAR welcomed. Roku is incompetent and infuriatingly stupid.
