I have had problems with Roku home cameras. I have been promised on several occasions a call back after “escalation”. Have NEVER received a callback. Was authorized a refund on a camera. Never received. The customer service front line tries but follow-up is NON EXISTENT. I would not recommend Roku.

I bought a Ruko 32" TV just over a year ago at Best Buy. Nice picture and proce, but absolutely HORRIBLE SPEAKERS (useless). It also lacks plug-in ports for USB port and no ear phone jack either. The software often fouls up and its necessary to unplug the TV to let it reload. Be sure to listen and examine a ROKU TV prior to purchasing it. Plenty of HDMI ports, and ARC, but no way to hook-up a bluetooth soundbar or audio speakers using USB ports.

Frustrating remote
It's a long story, but I'll try to sum up: I inherited a TCL television after my divorce. The TV had Roku already installed on it and it came with a Roku remote. This worked well for a long time until the remote started breaking down. By that time, the original Roku remote was out of date, I know this because I researched the product and serial number and realized that Roku was no longer distributing that model of remote.
I was informed through my reading that I could buy a new Roku stick with a new remote and install it on my old TV. My reading suggested to me (and I got this from the Roku website) that my new Roku hardware would work with my old Roku hardware. So, I bought it. I managed to get it to work but not without some trial and error.
All of a sudden today, I was prompted to agree to some new terms and I couldn't get passed the agree screen. I contacted Roku support only after I tried everything I knew how to do: unplug everything and plug it all back in, take out the batteries and put them back in, press these two buttons and hold for however many seconds and then pair the device again. I tried it all. This went on for about an hour. I never got to speak with a real person, and at the end it all I was kicked up the chain of command. "Your issue has been submitted for further review, blah, blah, blah....."
I was told to wait for an email from Roku and then I was disconnected from the chat.
Incidentally, I have a Google Chrome Cast with remote that's only slightly younger than my TV. It works better and has never broken down. If I have to buy a new TV, I'm NOT going to buy anything with Roku installed on it. All Roku has ever contacted me for was to subscribe to something, or pay to update something, or to add something. I don't want to have this experience again. Buy Roku only if you have no other option.

Good luck if you try to buy a product from this company. The address didn't include the P.O. Box and so the device was sent back to the warehouse. I was told I needed to start over, order another device, and I had been refunded for the first device. Well, I did that, and then didn't get the refund. Wasted an hour on the phone, then another hour on chat. No help from anyone. They don't care about customer support and just hang up and tell you to try again later. Terrible service. Let's hope the streaming platform works better than their outsourced customer service.

Online Sales Shipping Scam
Roku's online sales and shipping operation is a total scam. I ordered a camera that was supposed to arrive on April 10. As of April 9, it had only received the status "Pre-Shipment: Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item" from the USPS, even though I had placed the order on April 5 and Roku charged my credit card on April 6. I called their customer service (a call center in India) to cancel my order (the creation of a label is NOT a shipment), but their CSRs told me 1) it was not possible to cancel the order even though the product clearly had not shipped; and 2) if I returned it, I would have to PAY for shipping! This is an absurd and illegal practice: They're holding your credit card charge hostage while they take their time fulfilling your order. I informed the lead CSR that I would 1) dispute the charge with my credit card issuer; 2) file complaints with the US FTC and the CA Attorney General's office; and 3) per the USPS, I have the right to refuse their shipment if and when it ever arrives at a mystery date after the promised April 10.
Incredibly, the lead CSR then verified that YES, I could refuse the shipment by leaving the box unopened and writing REFUSED on the box; and that Roku would REFUND MY PURCHASE upon receipt of the returned unopened package.
I asked the CSR why she didn't LEAD with this information, since it could have saved hours of time and hassle. She had no answer.
Roku's consumer business practices are beyond shady. If you must buy their cagey products, buy from retail stores like Walmart, Target, or Amazon. Roku needs to reevaluate their consumer sales division and train/empower their CSRs to RESOLVE situations like this quickly. Otherwise endless reviews like this one, and a multitude of 1-star ratings, are much deserved.
Roku changed the settings for the home screen
Roku has completely changed the home screen forcing all of the apps that you don't want to see and the shows that you don't want to see on you. The settings don't allow you to move apps around anymore and now I have a huge sidebar that is useless. I can't wait to replace it with either Apple TV or a fire Stick.

Worst company to deal with. Zero support
Has to be the worst company to deal with. Was charged for 2 items we ordered. Never received them. Tried using chat. A.I. robots and foreign names that just keep asking for more time then disconnect. Hours wasted. I hope people stop buying their products just as we have. Unless you want to be thoroughly disappointed and absolutely frustrated don't buy a product that has zero real support.
Don't waste your money, buy anything but Roku.
The device lasts maybe 6-8 months. Then you have to buy a new one. This is my 4th device in 2 years. I'm done!

Not only have I experienced technical issues with my new Roku stick but in trying to get them resolved has literally been impossible. I was on an act of chat with an agent and she started by acknowledging issues. But stop responding and had no follow-up on how to resolve or replace the newly purchased device. This device was purchased an advertised through the Roku software operating system. So I'm left with it's effective device no customer service no solution. Be aware Roku is no longer reliable product and has no support when things are wrong.

Hate ROKU channel! Very often, I cannot fast forward without getting ads, and then it starts the episode all over again instead of continuing where I left off. No matter what I do, I have to go through the same ads and then it starts all over again. Not to mention the quantity of ads and their length of ads is absolutely the most irritating thing of all. ROKU cannot expect to get any money for their services if they continue in this strain, as Netflix is 10 times better about their ads and they don’t cost any more than ROKU.
