Roku Sells Garbage

Roku sells garbage hardware and pumps it full of ads as soon as you connect it to the internet. Their software "updates" regularly break apps. Don't waste your time with Roku.

Terrible customer service

The device itself is good! That being said the customer service is horrible. Roku offers deals for steaming services and when you have issues you think it's the service. Nope! It's Roku! The service has nothing to do with it and when you contact Roku they just give you the runaround or try and get you with a technicality. Kind of like if you've tried a free trail at any point you are not eligible for any deal. The provider itself doesn't consider you a subscriber but Roku does. They get the full amount saying the trial counts as a subscription even though say paramount doesn't. Beware of that. Trying to talk to an agent is nearly impossible. The bot will end the conversation the second you hit agent. If you do indeed get transferred it takes a very long time and then it might say Pete joined the conversation and then the person will say hi my name is John how can I help lol. It's a mess that's for sure and I'll never deal with them again

Roku. The worst thing to happen to television! Complete chaos! These people cut to commercials in the middle of sentences! Cut to commercials in the middle of scenes! 2-year-olds know how to present television shows better than Roku! Sure it's free programming. You just have to choke the death on the commercials! Television run amok!

I think it's not right for Roku to…

I think it's not right for Roku to charge a monthly charge on subscriptions when customer already has to pay a monthly subscription. For example: I subscribed to Acorn monthly charge of $9.65 and Ruko charges $9.74 rip off!!!!!

DON'T subscribe to a streaming platform through your Roku account

I subscribed to Acorn TV through Roku and now I can't access it because I don't remember the password that I used for the ORIGINAL sign-up. After jumping through hoops I got to chat with a Technical person who SIMPLY DID NOT UNDERSTAND that it was a password issue and took me through irrelevant trouble shooting. He couldn't retrieve the original password nor could he help me set up a new one WITHIN ROKU. (Acorn TV kept sending me back to Roku when I tried to change the password.) I now have an hour of my life and $90 that I can't get back. I can't be the first person who has run into this and they need to find a way to support their customers.

Roku cameras are trash

Roku cameras are trash. Their video door bell displays with low quality. You'll be able to see who is coming once they get close enough. It will tell you someone is there after they get there. It will notify you some one is passing once they have pass. It has no clue to animals. And even if you pay for the subscription for full camera features. You still will not get all events record as supposed, you'll just get some. So you may catch someone doing ship their not supposed to be on you property or you wont.. and if you want to complain to them. They will then take the stance there is nothing wrong with there cramp it's you your the idiot that witnesses events not recorded. Nooo, you just dont know how to read. So the button that would list recorded event, your just stupid and didn't know you can look there for the events that did not record too. Roku cameras are toys, perfect coverage for a child doll house. Roku needs to do better or just stick to tv ship. Roku cameras is a waste of money and provides no security. I can see my daughter taking out the trash but not see which neighbor put their bags of leaves near my trash in the middle of the night afterwards, I can see the trash dudes come. Recorded event shows a blurry car going passed no person tho next video is trash ppl. Look in another area it doesn't even show the car. Looking at records for my daughter's phone. She doesn't have the car at all on her feed.. Roku is trash trash trash trash

Charged for HBO with no approval from me!

I downloaded the ROKU Keyboard so I would not have to try and type a very long password into the TV. Next thing you know I'm being billed for $18.49 for HBO! They credited my card and said I was the only one who could sign up for this. They lie! They did it on purpose and got caugth.

Roku TV würde ich mir besser nicht…

Roku TV würde ich mir besser nicht zulegen.
Die haben in einem Monat 3 x Beiträge abgebucht. Nachdem ich es reklamiert habe, hieß es, dass es sehr wohl Probleme gab, ich aber Nachweise erbringen soll. Screenshots von den Abbuchungen waren ihnen dann plötzlich nicht mehr genug, sie wollten online dann plötzlich auch noch persönliche Kontodaten.
Eigentlich sollte meine Kundennummer im Zusammenhang mit Screenshots von meinem Konto doch ausreichend sein! Bis heute habe ich die Doppelbuchungen nicht zurück erstattet bekommen.
Nächsten Monat werde ich dann besser den Anbieter wechseln.
Also, immer schön die Abbuchungen kontrollieren!!!

I purchased a Roku4k I already have a Roku many years old, went to set it up and the instructions were in Spanish so letter by letter I used Google translate and the phrases got longer and longer my favourite was, Recuerda apuntar el control remote roku hacia tv, which is remember to point your remote at the TV, I would not have known how to do that without that reminder 😀 anyway I did notice that they didn't give the question at the beginning, do you already have an account? So went to set up, and my mistake I used the wrong email address whoops! Sadly it just got more complicated after that contacted help and nobody came back to me, maybe my wrong email address who knows it's Sunday and my week has been bad and 2½ hours free Spanish lessons from Roku thankyou I took it back to Argos, so sticking with my old Roku zzzzzzz.

If I could give Zero star, I woiud

If I could give Zero star, I would. There is no support from Roku. I really have little to add - BUT NEVER BUY A ROKU TV.

I have had 4 chats with ROKU - each time they go through the same process and transfer me to a Specialist that suggests the same solutions and then hangs up.

I also had a 70 minute phone conversation and sent screenshots, etc. by e-mail and was promised an update within 48 hours. Radio silence ever since.

So ) I have received NO SUPPORT AND DO NOT RECOMMEND ROKU TO ANYONE.

I want to give it a more honest review but you keep forcing a 1 star minimum! Roku got Walmart to not sell any not Roku TVs in their stores. I bought one and it took over an hour and 5 times registering my TV today and the stupid customer service rep who it took over an hour to find how to call them acted like it’s reasonable to have them decide if and when I may use my TV! No! Who wants to sell TVs? Better make sure it’s incompatible with Roku apps! Sony tired of being outsold? Sanyo? Magnavox? Anyone? I never wanted Roku and still have no use for it. I want appliances that are JUST APPLIANCES! I still might make Walmart take the TV back and get one from somewhere else.

Meaningless offer - no customer support

The Roku stick I bought at Argos didn't fit the HDMI slot on our TV. Roku gave a website address on the side of the box, offering to send a free adapter. I filled out their form 3 weeks ago and also followed up with e-mails. Nothing has arrived and I got meaningless responses via the e-mails.

Faulty device, customer service is a joke

Suddenly, my Roku device started showing ‘not enough power’ messages, even though I kept it plugged into the same TV port I’ve used for the past months. The blue light immediately turns red, and I can’t get past this screen. I’ve tried everything I found on Roku’s website, social media, and forums: plugging into a wall socket, factory resetting, restarting my TV, restarting my Internet connection, and still nothing works. I discovered that people have reported this issue even 6 years ago. I spoke with both a Roku customer advisor and a technical advisor. The chat was very strange; they didn’t seem to fully understand the problem or the steps I’d already tried. They simply follow a script regardless of my answers and give random instructions, even if I’ve already attempted them. I spent two hours chatting with them the last time, after which the chat was cut off. I received an email asking me to reply ‘above the line’ if I still needed assistance, but you can’t reply above the line because it’s an image. I replied asking for more help but got no response. A couple of days later, I received a customer survey email asking if I was satisfied with the service. I submitted another complaint through their website and replied to the survey email. A day later, I received an email stating the issue was marked as resolved and that they were happy to have helped. The situation is not resolved, and it seems I need to buy another Roku. So, if you buy a Roku, prepare to spend money every few months. The device runs automatic updates, and one of these updates broke it. I asked for a replacement, but it’s outside the warranty period, so that’s money wasted. It’s like throwing money out of the window. The company behaves like a scam. Don’t buy it because you will have to spend this money again soon after on something else.

Fully ensh!ttified

Roku started out as a decent, humble brand for people that wanted to "cut the cord" of overpriced cable subscriptions that were 80% garbage.

Now, Roku has become what it beheld. The home screen is 60% ads you can't disable. Roku is constantly adding channels to your device you didn't ask for and don't want. Roku is constantly adding new menu items to your home screen to up-sell you more subscriptions, more crap, more money for them.

Endless greed has killed the brand.

Want to contact Roku support and communicate your unhappiness with what it has become? Good luck! They don't want to hear from you and they don't care about you as a customer.

Poor quality, poor customer service,

I've had my TV for 8 months bought it brand new at Best Buy 55 in started losing the picture quality the screen would go black on different movie apps contacted Roku it took several times to have to show them pictures and videos as to the problem and then they said yes we'll replace it and they want to use a uncredited company that has poor reviews with their refurbished TVs and I told Roku I didn't buy a refurbished TV and I don't want a refurbished TV so I'm stuck with the one I have but I want people to know that if you go with Roku the same thing happens it's what you've got to look forward to
