It took me a month from ordering to…
It took me a month from ordering to receive the e-bike because apparently it arrived at the collection store broken (though I didn't discover this or get a solution until I made multiple calls and an email).
When I did receive it it was completely uncharged with the assistant barely giving me a run through on the bike.
And then the battery latch broke under the slightest scrutiny requiring a complete replacement of the entire battery.
Apparently I had unknowingly purchased one of the poorer quality entry level e-bikes on the market. Luckily for me I was able to get a full refund after contacting my payment provider and I will never be dealing with Raleigh again.
(If you think you'll get a good experience because it's from the manufacturer think again!)
My bike arrived today damaged…
My bike arrived today in damaged packaging, I opened it just to check the bike over hoping that it may just be the outer box ect. It wasn’t….It has various scratches, damaged break wires along with flat tires!
I tried to call straight away, I’ve currently been second in the que for 1 hour 14 minutes, in the same position (currently as I write this).
Drs have been easier to contact than this. I’m pretty sure they are just not answering purposefully looking at all these reviews!!!!
Stay away from them. I’ll keep trying them and then go via trading standards if this is not resolved!!!!
Terrible quality assurance and customer service
Terrible quality assurance, bike assembly manual and customer service.
My bike came with the forks misaligned. They tried to say this must have happened in transit, which would be impossible as they are too strong to move around like that. They obviously don't do properly quality assurance tests.
The instructions for assembling the bike were non existent for some parts.
When trying to return, the customer service is so slow and unhelpful each time you contact. I then had a collection booked for today and they did not come all day, when i waited for it the whole time.
Absolutely pathetic customer service, don't waste your time dealing with them.
Truly appalling customer support
Truly appalling customer support, no apologies, no empathy!
Don’t spend your money here as they are not interested once you have placed an order. They blame the courier for everything and nothing is ever their fault, staff are downright rude and aggressive.
I made order for some Lappier bike…
I made order for some Lappier bike parts (Order #1744) in May 2022. Still I have not yet received the order.
I bought a Stow E Way a few years ago…
I bought a Stow E Way a few years ago and admittedly I've had issues with a few things including the digital display, the motor, the folding hinge and the rear light popped off! I wouldn't recommend this as a commuter bike, it's probably more suited for leisure. My use was twice a week, if that, for 18 miles per day with full servicing roughly 3 times per year. The price is very inviting compared to other folding electrics on the market but the parts are possibly not as durable and i felt i was spending more money on maintenance and repair. That said, when I've contacted Raleigh direct they've been realistic with expectations and very helpful where they can. I've been sent a replacement rear light and motor and a few other parts were replaced under warranty. I'm happy to rate 5 stars for the customer service team and thank Liz, Lewis and the manager especially.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service. I was told my bike was on my way to me, 30 minutes before it was to be delivered apparently there wasn’t a door number and one digit from my phone number was missing. I replied to Raeleigh straight away with the missing information, I did find it odd as I made sure it had the correct details. Two days later I get a phone call to say the bike is missing and they don’t have any more in stock. No apology just unfortunate. Won’t be ordering from them again. My daughter will be disappointed :/
Just avoid
I arranged an order to be rejected at delivery (as per Raleigh's advice when i cancelled an order the day after I made it online) the item that was received back by Raleigh on the 22nd of June.
I've still not received a refund.
Raleigh were the bike to have when I was young - I always thought they stood for quality & were just a "good" company.
But having had to chase this/ not having an email to even say its the expensive bike I returned was back with them. Has just left me with a really bad impression of them .
The timescale of over 3 weeks & counting is not acceptable for an online refund.
I am so glad I went elsewhere for my purchase of a Raleigh bike as the place I bought from were so good & what a difference in service! You would think the manufacturer would be the best port of call... nope!
If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars! How is the co. Still about? They don’t care about safety or quality! Arrived scored to bits and unprotected in the box. And the faux leather handle not even fixed properly! Complained instantly. No response. 5mins on it, chain fell off! 2nd use the handlebars kept moving. Then the seat. 3rd use the chain fell off again and the brakes didn’t work causing an injury! My girl had to hobble home and while doing so the back light just fell off?! Absolute trash of a bike! I’d advise to buy a decent make because Raleigh is no longer like it once was… the amount of reviews I seen after buying to avoid is unbelievable, they should be getting done!
The Nottingham Tradition
My mum worked for Raleigh back in the 70’s and modelled some of the bikes so I thought I’d stick with Raleigh and the Nottingham tradition ☺️🙌 really pleased with my new Hoppa , had to set a few bits up but nothing particularly complicated. Feels great yo ride. Thanks 🙌👍
Bad customer Service
Saris H3 power cord plastic earth broke.
Handily, the power supply unit is designed so that the pins can be changed easily. Asked for a pin change and was told to buy an entire new adaptor, their stock next comes in November! So a £1 part, they wanted me to pay £35 for and wait 4 months for delivery.
It's a shame to give a 1 star to a cycle company, maybe I'll change it later on. However, their customer service really stung today.
If anyone else has a similar experience, I just plugged the power plug into a travel adaptor because it does not use the earth.
15.12.2023: Staying as 1 star review. As you can see Raleigh have not replied and clearly so not care about customer service.
Raleigh Strada One
My son bought a Raleigh Strada One brand new from Raleigh. To our disappointment It was damaged on arrival - the chain rings were bent on the crank (very cheap pressed steel).
He contacted Raleigh but they were not interested so I had to purchase a replacement crank myself.
Now one of the pedals has split in half due to them being completely made of plastic. So again, more replacement parts required.
I have also noticed many components are now rusting which obviously indicates further that much of this bike is made as cheap as possible (although apparently according to Raleigh the bike had an rrp of £500).
Bare in mind that this bike is barely 8 months old and has only been used for commuting.
I can remember the days when Raleigh were considered a quality brand, but like many these days, its all about maximum profit and built-in obsolescence.
Will never buy again.
Had a second of two e bikes…
Had a second of two e bikes delivered, this one was also damaged a hole punched into the box, trashing the gear selector, better than the first one that had been dropped at some point, trashing the head race bearings and front mudguard,it says two man lift on the box, only ever one man on lorry, gave up and got a full refund authorised, going royal Enfield instead! I tried!
Fantastic customer service support team
Fantastic customer support from Liz customer service advisor, needed a replacement tyre after having an issue with new electric bike. Contacted customer support on a Wednesday and replacement turned up in the post on Sunday. Couldn’t ask for more.
Lost order, incomplete bicycle build, sent wrong parts
They lost my order completely due to computer issues on their end. I only found out this after I contacted them to find out where my bicycle was. When it arrived they sent the wrong gearing system. The bicycle light wasn't attached properly as well and in contacting customer services over 2 months they have yet to work out how it's meant to be fitted. They sent me the wrong light, then they sent me a cover that would be used if I was removing the light. They seem not to know their own product.
The 2019 Raleigh array emotion motor…
The 2019 Raleigh array emotion motor broke for the second time within 2 years of use. I was given a replacement, and the electronics failed on this one year later. The original bike has still not been repaired OVER ONE YEAR LATER as the parts take months and then aren't the correct ones
Really bad quality control
I bought a Raleigh Array Crossbar Electric Hybrid Bike. The front light didn't work due to the heat shrink not being heat shrinked. Therer were loose spokes in the rear wheel. More importantly, the rear wheel was buckled. The whole bike had to be replaced.
Other than that, it's a nice bike so far.
No care taken during assembly
Bought a new bike for over £3000,The setup was done incorrectly. Crank has come loose twice, chain guard loose, all spokes lost tension within 100 miles. the integrated light cable was routed incorrectly and broke. Both brakes have been set up incorrectly. All of this is still true after taking the bike back twice. (except the integrated light which if fixed with electrical tape). i have spoken to customer services and they have given me no information i could use to rectify it myself and have made no effort to sort the problem out.
Some of these problems could have been from the Seller but without more information i can't tell who is to blame
Stow-e-way is one to avoid - after-sales now terrible
I bought this to commute to the station and then on to work from the other end. The route at the home end is arduous and I would wear out a rear freewheel every 8 months. The original replacement being £50, this is an expensive consumable and the freehub is now very old tech compared to the cassette-type rear derailleur sprocket. So i ended up downgrading to 7 speeds and replacing it with cheap ones, which had just the same lifespan. The gear shifter itself disintengrated within 6 months so I upgraded.
Then the pin on the seatpost failed, meaning I had to ride it 7 miles sat like a teenager on a BMX. The rear wheel then failed and the parts delivery lead in time was over 8 months. Raleigh kindly lent me a spare after I complained following three months waiting.
The contacts on the battery are also liable to failure, and a new one £400. Luckily a bike shop gave me a faulty warranty return unit from which I extracted the connectors and soldered them onto the old battery.
The very helpful lady at Raleigh (Nicola) sent me another control unit free of charge after the system failed. Sadly it wasn't the control unit but the controller itself that mounts on the handlebars.
Before I had the chance to order a new controller, someone nicked my newly refurbished battery. I had nearly given up having ridden with no power for six months but decided to replace the front brake pads... only to find that they had worn through the front rim.
Nicola appears no longer to be with Raleigh as my emails to support no longer get answers. When she was there, the backup was excellent - including sending me individual new spokes (when two in the rear wheel snapped) and a new mudguard when because of the lightness of the front I wiped out in the station car park.
This leads me onto wheel build quality: awful. Putting the front wheel on the other way round meant the brakes rubbed, so I then had a choice between refitting the new tyre and adjusting the brakes. The truth was that it was manufactured out of true (unequal dish angles). The rear wheel spokes stretched, so they began sounding like 'spokeys' of my childhood. The movement then made them snap at the hub.
After four years (including one locked down) I am giving up. This bike is only fit for occasional/light use only. If you actually want to commute - buy something else.
sent me a dangerous bike!
bought a brand new Raleigh Hoppa from Evans on Monday, got it home and noticed an issue with the wheel. I showed my brother and he said it was dangerous to ride as the tyre could burst at any moment. took it back to Evans who said they would try to contact Raleigh but that it would probably take weeks!
