I recommend OSS

I recommend OSS, I was worried before organising an overseas move... it seemed overwhelming. I was moving my dearest stuff, inclusive of hifi things, paying a fair bit of money for it, etc. But it all went very well, all team members very super professional and helpful and flexible with delivery as well. I had to do a claim on one of my lamp as well, but the whole insurance claim process also went super smoothly, efficiently and in a friendly manner.

Melissa & her team (Scott/Cody/Josh) did a phenomenal job with the packaging of all our household items. Melissa also provided a very detailed inventory list of all items with reference to whom completed each item. Such excellent team work! Made my move less stressful! 👍👏🏆🥇

Great moving crew in Melbourne

We were lucky enough to have Jesse and Candace help us on our uplift day and they were honestly unbelievable.
Candace came in early to help with the packing, and she could see we were overwhelmed so she just took control and helped us get organised; we couldn't have done it without her. She provided calmess in an otherwise stressful situation.
When Jesse and his colleague came, they came through and wrapped and packed everything that was left with professionalism and care for our items and provided great advice with an item that might not pass customs clearance.
Thank you for making our uplift so easy!

If you want a stress free move, I would look elsewhere.

I had a deeply disappointing experience with OSS Worldwide Movers, and I feel compelled to share my frustration, especially regarding their lack of after-sales service and communication.

Although OSS initially offered packing services for my belongings, the majority of my items were not packed at all. Instead, the cartons I had packed myself were opened, with some crumpled butcher's paper placed on top and then re-taped. This lack of attention to detail was shocking, and it felt like they were cutting corners in a way that impacted the safety of my possessions.

When I raised concerns with the Brisbane branch, I was met with an unprofessional attitude from the branch manager. There was no sense of responsibility or concern for the services that had been promised but not delivered. The manager's communication was not only dismissive but also conveyed a complete lack of interest in resolving the issues at hand. It was incredibly frustrating.

Unpacking was another part of the contract, but this service was never provided. OSS's excuse was that my belongings were not being delivered to a home, so they don’t typically unpack anything. However, they couldn’t point to any part of the contract that mentioned this limitation. It was a flimsy excuse and added insult to injury.

As for the packing itself, it was shockingly inadequate. Many delicate and antique items were poorly packed, resulting in substantial damage to them during transit. I had trusted them with these items because they advertised superior care and attention to detail, but the reality was far from that. When I attempted to claim compensation through their insurance, OSS refused to pay the excess, despite their responsibility to ensure the safe transport of my goods.

Additionally, I was hit with unexpected charges for MPI inspection. OSS claimed that the New Zealand agent (NZ Movers) needed to add costs to cover their expenses for delivery into NZ. However, when I contacted MPI directly, I was told that the fees they were charging me were far higher than what MPI had actually charged them. This was yet another example of unnecessary upcharges.

In short, my experience with OSS Worldwide Movers was extremely negative. The extra charges, the mishandling of my possessions, and the terrible treatment from their staff have left me regretting choosing them for my move. I would strongly advise anyone considering using this company in the future to be wary. There’s a significant risk of extra charges, mistreatment of your belongings, and poor customer service that could leave you in a stressful and costly situation.

Just an update. I've had to claim insurance and have been told that QBE will be handling my claim however will not give me any contact details for who I can talk to at QBE. OSS said in the email they are no longer handling my claim but will not provide any contact details for anyone at QBE.

This is a reply to OSS response to my review today 12 June 2025.

Your response is inaccurate and misleading to the consumer. You were contracted to repack all of my boxes, which you did not. Opening boxes I had packed and merely putting a small amount of butcher paper on top is not repacking. As you are well aware, more than a lantern was damaged. There were multiple items of which I sent you photos of. On arrival into Akld my partner received the goods and no offer to unpack or remove any of the packaging was given. Clearly items unable to be unpacked in a container was not required but the larger items of furniture and other outdoor items wrapped, were not unwrapped or packaging removed. Do not let this company fool you with their response and argument. They have failed outrageously to deliver what was promised. The behaviours of their staff towards me were terrible, because I dared you complain and hold them accountable. Do not use this company unless you want a stressful, terrible and expensive experience.

Dear Nicole,

Thank you for your feedback but we are surprised by the claims being made.
Your consignment was collected from National Storage Biggera Water and internationally packed and prepared for export. The consignment was made up of 55 items or 10 cubic metres.

As your consignment was collected from a storage unit the cartons that were packed by you were checked and repacked to ensure safe voyage. This is acknowledged by you and evidenced in photos supplied showing OSS packing paper and tape that was applied. The quality of the packing and handling is evidenced by the safe arrival of the cartons albeit for a small dent in what we believe to be a light shade/lantern. With the effects packed in cartons arriving as they departed, the packing appears to have been sufficient. We would encourage you to post the images we have sent you showing your effects as they were packed prior to export.

We acknowledge the damage sustained to your glass cabinet which is regrettable. The damage appears consistent with “shock” meaning that the item or container suffered a significant jolt at some point, which can occur as containers are handled mechanically through ports. It is difficult to protect against this type of damage. It is covered by insurance, and we advised you to submit a claim.

The delivery location was too another storage unit (container) in Henderson Auckland. The delivery instructions to our partners were for unpack and set up of furniture if required. These are standard instructions, and the delivery papers signed by your representative suggest that all delivery requirements were fulfilled. It would be unusual to unpack furniture items into an intermediary place of storage (a storage unit), as you would be removing protection from the effects whilst they are in storage and later in transit. To avoid creating workplace hazards, our proposal allows for the unpacking of cartons to elevated flat surfaces. Elevated flat surfaces were not present in the storage container.

Unfortunately, the statements you are making are not accurate.

MPI (Biosecurity) inspections and charges are not a surprise. They are fully disclosed with your quotation clearly noting “MPI/Quarantine may elect to inspect your consignment on arrival, if this occurs an additional charge will be payable at that time.” This is highlighted and appears on the first page of the proposal. MPI charges are calculated based on multiple components which include the time incurred of a MPI Officer plus the time, cost and resources incurred by the transitional facility to facilitate the inspection. In this instance, New Zealand Movers must provide accredited staff, and facilities for the inspection to occur. The charges incurred are completely in line with industry.

Since the delivery of your consignment, you have communicated with us on numerous occasions, multiple times a day. We have tried to answer those queries promptly, politely, and help.

We take the feedback onboard and will assist you with your insurance claim as best we can.

Very professional team

Very professional team. we moved from Australia to India and were initially nervous on how things would go with OSS. Excellent service - would recommend!
OSS was our Australian partner from our recent relocation from the UK to Sydney. I have nothing but good things to say about the team that worked with us. Anu was very good about keeping us up to date with our container when it arrived in Australia, and was quick to respond to emails and queries. The team on the day of delivery, Sunny, Daryl and Carlos were fantastic on the day, got the container unloaded in a morning, and helped with getting the boxes unpacked and took away the packaging material.

OSS are 5 star to deal with …

OSS are 5 star to deal with and would highly recommend to anyone that is looking for a high quality moving company for the most competitive costing.
We recently moved our family of 5 from Auckland to Brisbane. OSS were the most competitive price as well as being highly efficient and amazing communication.
The packers they sent to our Auckland home were of the highest quality. Our container of household goods was moved to Brisbane in record time. The agent in Brisbane was professional and efficient and had our container off the port and through customs/bio security very quickly.
The container arrived to our house in Brisbane with a team of very professional movers and it was unpacked and in our home in the most considerate and respectful way.
Thank you OSS for making a stressful move into something quite easy, we very much appreciate you all.

Beware the high power sails spiel and…

Beware the high power sails spiel and non refundable deposit. We were missed about peak period costs and found a cheaper quote that gave more flexibility. So cancelled 4 months from packing date. And OSS are refusing to refund any of our deposit.

Thank you for the feedback. Like many businesses, we do charge a deposit upon acceptance of our quotation. The movement of personal effects internationally is complex, and we want our staff to be able to plan and assist you with your relocation as soon as you book your move with us. We also want to be able to secure your preferred moving dates, bearing in mind operational capacity is limited. Once engaged, time and costs are incurred for administration, planning, and the preparation of your move.

We understand, having engaged our service, you received alternative information from an alternative supplier about a different type of service at a different cost. Our proposal was based on a sole use container but if you now want to send less via a shared container, we remain happy to assist you.

We believe we have acted fairly and reasonably with you at all times, as demonstrated in our most recent correspondence below:

“The quotation provided to you is completely transparent and includes the service offered and the cost of that service. Being the international packing and wrapping of 22 cubic metres of effects via a 20ft sole use container, from your residence to your address in the UK. There is no misinformation and no compulsion to accept the quotation provided to you but our contract with you begins once acceptance occurs.

We note your comments around locating an alternative provider offering a different service at a different cost. A shared container service is a completely different service from a sole use container service and is less expensive. Your effects are loaded and shipped with other people’s effects, which incurs additional handling, time in transit, and is less secure. Whereas a sole use container can be booked on your advice, a shared container must wait for other people’s effects to fill the container and share the freight expense. A sole use container will be delivered directly to your door in the UK (subject to access) whereas a shared container will be deconsolidated via a partner’s depot.

We are happy to present this option to you. Without seeing the alternative quotation, it is not possible to know what is being presented to you.

If you no longer wish to proceed with our contract, we accept that, however the deposit paid is non-refundable. Our team commences shipment planning and preparation from the point of acceptance. Unfortunately, time and resources have been incurred upon your instruction to proceed. We would however apply the deposit paid against any future shipment and we can still provide you with a shared container option if you would like.”

We remain happy to assist if we can but if not, we wish you well with your relocation.

A 5-star experience for our family with…

A 5-star experience for our family with OSS worldwide and Welti‑Furrer AG partners. We moved from Switzerland to Australia and every box was delivered to perfection. The updates from both teams were timely. We will use OSS / Welti‑Furrer AG partners again if we ever return to Switzerland and I know our belongings will arrive safe and sound even after a few months of land/water travel.

Excellent door to door services!

We moved from Hong Kong to Sydney and all of the boxes were delivered in excellent condition. Gratitude to our move management team lead Amy. Our communication was clear and professional. And Amy will keep us up to date on the status such as custom clearance, biosecurity examination etc. With no doubt that we will recommend OSS to anyone relocating internationally.

Great job

Outstanding service with OSS very efficient from start to finish.
I plan a big move 2025 Australia to United Kingdom, if all goes well with this shipment I will be using OSS again, but I will be requesting the same Removals Daniel & Arron they were very professional & handled the packing professionally.

Underwhelming

We were generally underwhelmed by our experience with OSS.

1. Cost: We had an in-home quote, after which we trimmed down to reduce volume, incl. children’s play kitchen and entire cupboard worth of linen as well as tools etc. Despite reduction efforts, the final cost and volume was exactly the same as our original quotation, despite their guarantee that they would only charge for final collected volume. 
We also felt little effort had been made by packers to minimise volume (examples incl. entire boxes for empty wooden cube shelves, massive TV box for 2 small heaters).


2. Time: 5.5 months door-to-door, more than two months in Melbourne waiting to be shipped. At one stage we were told it was due to leave at the beginning of May, and when we followed up after that date we were told it would be yet another 5 weeks before departure. They make no promises but should be more transparent with estimates. It took 24 weeks, double the 9-13 estimate. 


3. Carelessness packing: Non-removable castor wheels were snapped off two heaters to fit them in (oversized) box. Dresses packed in the bottom of a clothing box with random photo frames, candles, wooden boxes thrown on top. Leather hand bags folded and squashed, picture frames misshapen, and books bent with spines warped, covers folded over. All only evident after arrival as of course we obviously didn’t supervise packing. A large frame individually packed also broke (these things are bound to happen) but it left us further out of pocket as not worth insurance claim.

On the positive side, we found response and communication was always good and the kitchen items were really well packed - 0 breakages with a lot of small fragile items.

Thank you for your review and we certainly take your feedback on board. In reviewing the file, I can see notes stating how nice you were to deal with, so it is a real shame that there were some service gaps.

Our teams do not inflate the volume of a shipment. At times, you will see some cartons packed with more packing paper than others. Often this is to fill voids to prevent the movement of items when other items are not available to fill those gaps. Likewise, looking at your cupboards and stools I can see the dilemma the crew would face. There is void space to fill, but the crew can face censor for packing certain types of items together or using your personal effects as void fill. It is a fine line, and, in most cases, we would back the judgment of our teams to do the right thing by the client. If they got it wrong here, we apologise.

As you note timeframes are not guaranteed but have been extended due to recent logistical/geopolitical challenges. The most likely scenario for a planned departure not occurring is the last-minute withdrawal or storage of one or more consignments. Departures are planned based on the collective instructions of all the shippers. If a large shipment withdraws or requires extended storage this will throw out our planning.

We regret if there were isolated packing issues. The team would not break an item to fit it into a box. If a castor wheel broke at the time of packing it would be entirely accidental. We are sympathetic to your position and have reached out to you directly.
