Tried to sell our house through them - poor service from start to finish. Quality of marketing materials was poor, virtually no contact in the first 6 months - improved slightly when I complained about it. Decided to switch agents - have bought and sold several properties and they’re the worst I’ve used.

If i could give zero stars I would .
failed to follow through with fixing problems within the house.
they were made aware of several issues during us living there and charged us a cleaning fee when we left even though it was an absolute pig state when we got it!!
had numerous altercations with a particular member of staff who has no people skills whatsoever! and was greeted with a very unprofessional rude attitude from Claudia long when trying to collect some belongings! Would never use again.

Excellent communication and efficient service from start to finish, with regular progress reports, from initial contact through to agreed sale. Nothing but positive experience from their team.

A great team supported us from start to finish in the successful sale of our property . Particular thanks to Nicole, Jacqui and Sonia in the office , very responsive in action and great customer service . Also special thanks to Derek Hackney who made the start of the process so personal when viewing the house and guidance.

Awful. Trying to rent a property in Penrith. We had to wait to view at a time that was convenient for them ( not us the customer!). Then heard nothing.
However found out by looking on rightmove that the property had been let to someone else.
Absolute joke. No customer care or thought for the very stressed out families trying to relocate.

I have been using Hackney & Leigh Letting Agents for some time as a Landlord. I would not trust them with a dolls house let alone a real house. They ignore Contracts and do exactly as they please because they can, Landlords have no protection whatsoever. H&L ignored damp in my house and failed to put various things right. They contacted an electrician to fix a toilet, that's how useless they are. They have been requested to pay me compensation by the Ombudsman 2 weeks ago which has not been received. They did not respect my property and seemingly don't respect the PRS either. I hope Karma serves them well.

Charlie and Tonia looked after us extremely well when we sold our property. They worked really hard at making sure good communication between parties, and were extremely professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending them

We have just purchased a house through Hackney & Leigh and I would like to thoroughly commend them on their helpfulness and the proactive role of their staff. We had a 'difficult' solicitor involved in the sale and the H&L team were really helpful pushing them along and passing messages between the vendor and ourselves. I would certainly recommend Hackney & Leigh and would certainly use them in the sale of any property in the area.

I bought a property in Coniston, Cumbria through Hackney and Leigh. The staff were very helpful in sorting out problems and minimising delays. Tonia helped to secure the sale and then Claudia was excellent in sales chasing. Highly recommended.

As if the Keswick housing market wasn’t toxic enough, having to deal with these vultures only compounds the issue! Informed that our offer was acceptable (subject to proof of funds) we were left in the dark whilst another viewing was conducted and offer made to match our own. Rather than give us an opportunity to respond or complete the proof of funds, Hackney and Leigh advised the vendor to accept the other offer there and then. Clearly only interested in snapping up their commission rather than allowing the extra 24 hours it took to prove that we were ready to proceed immediately also. Any wonder locals are forced out of the market by supposed “cash buyers”, I don’t buy it - the property will be a holiday let in no time and yet another family home will be lost by the community- shameful.

Kendal Branch - Purchasing a residential property. Misleading, poor comms and blatant lies. Avoid if possible, otherwise you'll end up homeless and considerably less money in your bank account. There are plenty of other good estate agents out there, use them instead!
