Great pickup process, good car in very good technical condition, easy to handle. However, car return should be better described and advised, as Go Rental office location is a few km outside of Christchurch airport, so we lost some time and nerves unnecessarily. Overall good and easy car return.

We had an excellent experience renting a car with GO Rentals in New Zealand. We rented a vehicle on both the South Island and the North Island, and in both cases we had no problems at all. The service was efficient, the pick-up and drop-off process was simple, and the cars were in great condition.

Based on our experience, we strongly recommend renting the car with the full insurance coverage offered by the company. Even if you choose a different rental company, it is definitely worth getting full coverage. It may be a little more expensive, but it certainly makes everything much easier and safer.

We highly recommend GO Rentals and would definitely rent with them again.

Stay away from GO Rentals New Zealand. We had a disappointing rent a car experience with GO Rentals New Zealand at Christchurch Airport. We had booked a rent a car in Auckland for pickup in Christchurch and were expecting either the vehicle we booked or an upgrade. Upon arrival, we were given a downgrade, a smaller car for the same price. Without any explanation. When we insisted on receiving what we booked or something equivalent or bigger as was written in our fully paid and signed contract, we were first lied to (the car you are renting is better) which was not true and afterwards the employee lied that we booked an older year car and this one is small but new and then suddenly the manager accused us of being impolite, an accusation that was completely unfounded. We called out their lie and demanded what we booked and paid for. Go Retals New Zealand manager was the one that was unprofessional and unpolite.

Instead of resolving the issue, he canceled our New Zealand rent a car contract, claiming it was no longer valid, despite us having already signed it even for the smaller worse car. They promised a full refund, but I have yet to see any of that money, leaving us unable to rent a vehicle in the meantime as bank was closed to put more money on the prepaid card and no one takes cash in New Zealand. We contacted the New Zealand police, because we thought we were getting scammed, they informed us that they noted what happened and that this is a civil matter, which means it will take time. We contacted a lawyer. In short, our holiday were ruined because of their action, and we were left stranded without a rent a car. In our opinion, it is a lack of respect for the law and the customer. We would advise others to be cautious when considering GO Rentals New Zealand for renting a car, we wouldn’t recommend it because in high season we were left without an already booked car and they did not jet return the money to us. In our opinon, Gorentals gorentals.co.nz New Zealand do not care for the customer and do not even honor the signed contract.

Quick pick up and we received the vehicle we had booked. Staff were friendly and efficient. Car was clean and comfortable.

Every thing went smoothly without any hassle on the road as the condition of the vehicle was very good. Staff communication was also very good.

1 star – Extremely disappointing customer service and unfair charges
Our experience with Go Rentals was extremely disappointing and stressful, particularly due to poor customer service and a complete lack of empathy.
A team member lied to my parents, telling them a manager was being contacted, only to leave my mother on hold for an extended period of time. She was then told the manager had already left for the day and that they “might” call her back tomorrow regarding her inquiry. This was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive.
Due to the Interislander ferry being cancelled — something entirely out of our control — we were no longer able to drop the car off in Christchurch. We contacted Go Rentals to return the vehicle to the original pickup location at Auckland Airport, only to be told this would incur a charge of over $700. This is despite the fact that we had already paid an Interislander fee of several hundred dollars.
There was no flexibility, no understanding, and no attempt to help despite the circumstances being caused by travel disruptions outside of the customer’s control. The approach felt purely profit-driven and targeted at squeezing more money out of tourists during already stressful travel changes.
I would strongly caution travellers against using this company. Between the misleading communication, rigid policies, and excessive fees, Go Rentals showed no care for their customers or their situations.

The car was of great quality, almost new and very well equipped. The staff is helpful and friendly and the app is very useful to speed up the check in.

Go Rentals consistently provides exceptional service and which makes the experience of renting a car easy, efficient and enjoyable. Everyone on the Go Rentals team is super friendly and helpful. In particular, Brent has been of tremendous help to us on each occasion we have rented a vehicle and the relationship we have built up with Brent over the years is a key reason why we have and will keep continue coming back. Their vehicle selection is also excellent and we can always find the kind of vehicle we need for our trip.
