Pre-qualifying interest rates are just a company "guess"!

We are cosigners for our son, pre-qualifying rates given to us were 3% - 6% interest, so we continued with the application and the result came back with 11% interest instead. We have a very high Credit Score, this did not make sense! Having spoken to two company representatives (one being a complaints representative) they are unapologetic about their approach to give false interest rates at the point of pre-qualifying. Feedback from the the complaints representative was that the pre-qualifying quotes given to cosigners is a "guess". Maybe its our naivety as first time cosigners or maybe College Ave just need to give a more accurate initial quote rather than an uneducated guess! Regardless not impressed....

We strive to keep our rates competitive, but several factors determine the interest rate including both the applicant’s and cosigner’s credit profiles, not just score, in addition to the loan repayment options selected. We provide all the details about the interest rate for the customer to accept prior to making the loan.
