Eating at Bournemouth airport
The airport itself and the Jet2 staff were all really friendly and efficient. Great so far. Went to the bourne &acre breakfast resto. Positively the worst airport resto anywhere. We order online 35 quid for two light breakfasts confirmed it will be on our table in less then 15 min. 45 min later nothing arrives, and our flight is called. I go to get a refund and I get a refund and discover they won't refund the service charge for ordering online. They admit it's not ok . Bacon sandwich from WHSmith next door next time .
3rd world country experience with London +++ ratexs
Extortionate car parking rates .. I paid £82 for a four day stay.. ???
Food and drinks …equally poor quality / over priced… £7.49 for a pint of Heineken … really?, .
Gatwick is cheaper car parking … and LGW is paying Greater London area rates so how does BOU in the middle of nowhere justify such extortionate rates ???
The whole place is 3rd world … prefab facilities , muddy car park,, long walk in the rain to the terminal you’ve got to board in the rain without cover .
Leaking urinals in pre fab toilets …3rd world facilities (and I’ve worked in India)
In summary ….it’s a glorified shed, somewhere between Bournemouth and Christchurch with 3rd world facilities and London ++prices
Diabolical
Diabolical. The website claims that the airport has an executive lounge…it doesn’t. It claims to have shops and bars, it doesn’t. There is one 8 table bar/cafe offering one draught beer at £4.30 a half pint, no hot food and only a few pre-packed awful sandwiches. Even w h Smiths is unmanned. The noise from building works is dreadful and I suspect breaches health and safety regulations as the builders are wearing ear defenders and yet 2 meters away, passengers are subjected to the noise with no safety equipment. The Premier Parking is so badly thought through that it is actually a shorter distance to the cheapest parking as there is no footpath from premier and you need to walk through the cheaper area to get to the terminal.
Give it a miss or arrive as late as possible so you don’t need to spend any money!
Staff very rude.
Air con set on freezing, it was uncomfortably cold
The air con is too high within the restaurant and pub area, we were waiting on New Year’s Day and it was freezing in there. I spoke with the bar staff who advised us it was the airport that set it high meaning that even the staff had to work with their coats on!
Not happy when we were sat waiting for 2 hours
Premium prices, poor service
It’s disappointing that they make it unsafe for people to walk to the airport, going out of their way to make people walk in the road or pay money to drop off. They don’t maintain a standard of restaurants in line with other airports. The only restaurant they have has really poor quality food and service for a sky high price
The worst airport in the world.
The worst airport in the world.
No public transport. A disaster.
But wait, there’s a coach station at Bournemouth. Let’s look at the places you can go. London. Heathrow. Gatwick.
But no Bournemouth airport.
Oh the irony…. At the airport. A sign. Buses only…. But no buses go there. You’re putting a great effort to retain that title of worst airport in the world.
Awful, continuous muzac in departure area.
We had to spend 5 hours waiting for a delayed departure. That wasn’t the problem. What was AWFUL was listening to the same ‘muzac’ continuously for 5 hours. Imagine listening to your least favourite music for 5 hours. Nobody seems to think about the ‘torture’ of unwanted noise in a public space. WAKE UP Bournemouth Airport!!!
Why no car park shelter?
I've been fortunate to have used Bmth twice recently, both with the superb Jet2 brigade. They are faultless.
But, as seems to all too regularly reviewed, facilities are disappointing.
The car park configuration is archaic, why cant you allow for a drop off by the actual entrance? Instead of the trudge over a gravel car park through all weather.
When leaving the airport it's worse. Particularly if it's raining, absolutely no shelter whilst waiting for a taxi.
As for your terminal, please improve toilet facilities, some are little better than those at Glastonbury, I refer to the ones near the baggage conveyor.
For me, it's 1st and last impressions, neither are good, very 3rd worldish. Thank goodness for Jet2, they mask your shortfalls well.
Bournemouth airport is not coping with the numbers of passengers
BOH Trust pilot REVIEW
I’ve always been happy to fly from my local airport, however recently since operations have been expanded to include Jet2 operations of two aircraft based here,
Bournemouth Airport
Definitely cannot cope with the current situation with Four flights departing within 45 minutes of each other at the moment. They are operating at over full capacity
Research shows static capacity as 600 however four flights = circa 800 pax is ridiculous and one could speculate not safe in the case of an emergency. Listed below are some (butt not all) if the areas of poor unsatisfactory conditions and performance
Not enough staff in all areas
Not enough toilet facilities (only4 urinals and 4 cubicles in the gents)
Not enough security facilities only one lane of three in use for the four flights)
Also the security facilities are not vey easy to access due tons not clear (unless you pay for fast track)
Horrendous car park charges (in excess of those at LHR and LGW)
There are No regular bus services to/from the airport! to Bournemouth (or anywhere!) and the ones that there are do not align with any flights at all
There is a Pax drop of charge of £5 (including taxis) and they have put prevention measures in place trying to stop pedestrians from getting into the airport to maximise their greedy profiteering
There seems to be a Money grabbing management in place and they pay poor staff wages (most ground staff are in minimum wage see recent strike threat events)
No any 15-30 min of free parking
No any 15-30 min of free parking. Luton has first 2 hours for free.
I was called a "spastic" by a staff member
Shame about the young black woman working at security who said "what a spastic", as I was about to accidentally walk through with my phone in my pocket instead of putting it on the tray. She probably thought I didn't hear her when I walked back to put it on the tray, well I did, Very professional isn't it? It seems she needs more training on how to deal with the general public appropriately when exchanges like this happen.
This happend in the early morning of saturday the 18th of october, I do not have the precise time this event occurred, I say between the hour of 5:00am and 6:00am.
Great Airport staff...but poor transport service
I caught the coach to Bournemouth station from my home in Portland. Arriving at the station I was told that no longer are there frequent buses to the airport despite it saying it's an international airport !
Ended up having to pay for a taxi £25 there and on my return .
Parking is ultra expensive and even pickup ...
Despite all the construction work , I found the staff on Information etc more than helpful and pleasant.
This airport needs to look at Transport links to get there like other airports....they do have bus services....

Yes the airport is in transition but….!
Yes the airport is in transition but….!
The temporary facilities are poorly designed and project managed. There are open areas without cover in several places that prove problematic in increment weather.
The food and beverage offer is appalling and extremely pricey.
Asked for a decaff coffee and the person appeared to think I was from planet Mars. It was better in the Days of Bath Travel when you got a raffle ticket for your food!! Suggest you get a high street chain interested in the food and non alcoholic offer with a separate provider for alcohol offer.
Now for the really best bit. With Ryanair, Jet2 increasing flights it has led to mayhem.
The flight scheduling conflicts and overwhelms security, border control, baggage collection and other facilities.
I hope and pray that holiday airlines choose Southampton to run flights to more holiday destinations.
I agree with another reviewer that there should be a nil star for such poor service.

I’ve experienced better bus stations…
I’ve experienced better bus stations than Bournemouth airport. After having used most of the airports in the UK I was shocked that they couldn’t even seem to get the basics right. Very early start for a 06:30 flight where we queued for ‘security’ via an outside (freezing) makeshift plastic building. The woman on the boarding card desk scolded me for stepping a cm past the little pole she had up stating where the security point was. How very dare I?! What a total jobsworth, buzzing from a tiny bit of authority she was, I had to hold back from laughing. The most hilarious part was they had about 3 flights boarding at a similar time (and only 3 gates!) yet thought it a great idea to only have 2 people serving hot drinks in the cafeteria, the millennials serving forgot to tell people that you had to queue up to place your order, then join another queue to collect it. My partner was gone 30 minutes to get two coffees in which time I had to drink it in minutes as we were rushed to board and I was exhausted after waking up at 3am for the flight to not even be able to get a coffee on arrival. This place is seriously poorly run. Wont be using the airport again. Even if they are currently undergoing maintenance and expansion, their facilities in the meantime have not been properly thought through.

Bournemouth Airport
I took a flight out of Bournemouth airport and it left me with mixed feelings. I live in Southampton and so it was very convenient to fly from there but my experience in the restaurant and cafe left a lot to desired. We went to the Evergreen bar and restaurant, There the drink selection seemed poor, if you wanted a beer it had to be lager and a couple of the choices from the menu were not even available . We ordered a couple of meals which took an age to arrive, considering it’s a airport I would expect quick service in this department, especially at a airport where meals and drinks are more on the pricey side and deadlines are important. Unfortunately when the meals finally did arrive they were cold, and by that I mean barely warm, cooled burger patties are not for me, the chips and onion rings with it were piping hot so I can only assume the burgers were left somewhere unheated while the sides were prepared, We let someone know and they immediately offered a new meal or refund, we chose a refund. Having lost confidence in The Evergreen bar and restaurant! we decided to grab something from the “Cafe”. We bought 2 panini’s one coke and crisps that cost £28. The panini literally had been buttered on the very edge of the bread and was lacking the cheese in the “ham & cheese filling department. It’s a shame I can’t add a link to the photo of the panini here
Surly even though it’s an airport they proprietors must consider customers returning! On the whole I definitely could not recommend eating in the airport before a flight. Other then that the journey through the airport was quite a smooth experience

Car Parking Disaster
We had a pretty good (flying) experience, but what lets it down badly is the car parking.
The bays are gravel based (poorly) with tarmac on the main lanes. The lanes are narrow, so if you drive into a lane where there isn't a space then you may have to reverse out - no problem, apart from when its busy!) Yes, some of the lanes are dead ends and you can't always see the whole length of the lane).
I eventually found a spot in Car Park 1, which is a couple of minutes walk from the terminal.
On returning, what a farce. You have to negotiate drivers reversing down lanes as they couldn't find a spot and and then spend about 15 minutes waiting in queues just to leave.
I would rather take the extra time and drive to Gatwick and wait for a bus to the terminal than pay the extortionate prices at Bournemouth.
(BOH - if you're going to charge customers high prices then at least ensure you have the infrastructure in place. Your prices are much higher than Southampton or Gatwick.)
The whole car park needs to be redesigned so that drivers can drive between lanes easily and then add in a few more exit lanes for good measure.

The car parking cost is extortionate.
The car parking cost is extortionate.
Then my wife bought a glass of wine and a pint of cider £19.78. I couldn't believe they could charge that much, I should have gone to the bar, I'd have left them and not paid.
An absolute rip off. The person who served her was probably on the minimum wage

Airport can't cope
Airport can't cope. We returned late at 23:30 17th Sept 2025. Flight was great and Jet2 are great, no issues with them at all. Once you get off the plane, your then stuck into some bodged up Passport control and through to baggage reclaim. Thats where it all goes wrong. There are two baggage belts. Last night there was probably four aircraft that landed close to each other. It was absolute carnage. people everywhere, dangerous trollies everywhere. An hour wait for our luggage. Then to cap it all, one Toilet for Ladies, one for gents, and a disabled toilet, in the baggage reclaim area. And this is modern day UK? Can't we do better? Once out you then have to negotiate the pathways out to the car park, which has lights out in places, so no good in the dark! The experience from jet2 was first class though, unfortunately Bournemouth airport let them down big time. We shall not be using this place again which is a shame as Jet2 was excellent. The same thing occurred a couple of years back and it has NOT improved at all. They say investment is being made at Bournemouth? I certainly didn't see it at all.

Rude Staff
Well Jet2 were superb but when I went to take my golf bag to the specific area I had to wait 20 mins whilst 2 members of staff sat down and drank coffee through the window. They even shook their heads at me when I suggested how long would this take it and she also pointed her finger up at me and instructed me to wait. What customer service is this ?? It was outrageous !
As if that wasn’t enough , then once I’d passed through security and I was just a few yards away looking in the shop, the lady who pointed her finger at me came to work in security and started eye balling me - I couldn’t believe it ! So I went and complained. I don’t know who the hell these airport staff think they are! My experience with Bournemouth Airport staff was a disgrace apart from Jet2, who were absolutely fantastic.
