Still we have no compensation! Everybody, please look carefully at this AWFUL company's reply since it is unbelievable: QUOTE: "We regret that this former tenant continues to express dissatisfaction" -- yes OF COURSE I am dissatisfied!!!! My family and visitors had (1) NO working clothes washer for 1+ months, despite repeated begging to your company to arrange repair; (2) NO working bathroom (door stuck wide open on toilet) for 1+ months, despite repeated begging to your company to arrange repair; (3) you TOOK 700+ Euros for repairs including old shower pipes, for an old apartment that was falling apart. I am amazed at your arrogance!!! You deny NONE of these facts. I have proof for them all.

Still my family and I have received absolutely 0 in compensation from this awful rental company, after their mistreatment, their taking our security deposit, and their failure to repair the essential items in the flat that we were paying for. The worst possible rental company: We suffered: (1) 1 month WITHOUT a working clothes washer. (2) 1 month WITHOUT a usable toilet since bathroom door would not close. (3) Initial 1 month with no Internet installation since Book-a-Flat couldn't be bothered to find out who was in charge of building or the access. PLUS (4) your own admission that initial state of apartment was not very clean AND (5) your use of our Security Deposit to repair "shower pipes"... in an apartment that was decaying and had very old plumbing in need of updating!! You deserve the "TERRIBLE" label 100%.

"..Book-a-Flat has always remained available to discuss this matter ..". Er..? Well, we said that 300 Euros is the very least that we deserve as compensation, and you said maximum 220 and we update the review. So that is your definition of 'discuss'. So your claim is NOT TRUE. Why don't you do the decent thing and provide justified compensation?

STILL absolutely 0 in compensation. We had the absolute *worst* experience with this company in Paris when renting. No functioning clothes washer for 1 month and no functioning bathroom/toilet door for 1 month (i.e. stuck wide open!). So we spent 100's of Euros on taking clothes to commercial laundry and also having to pay for guests to spend nights in nearby hotels. And despite the very mediocre, old and grungy initial state of the flat and its decaying pipes/plumbing etc. they then charged us for pipe repair (i.e. property improvement) as part of an excess 700+ Euros that they took from our deposit. I asked for 300 Euros back in compensation, and the manager continues to refuse and simply sends me patronizing emails. I would personally choose any other company on the planet except them. We have rented many times all over the world, but never had such a bad treatment.

AWFUL COMPANY! Still no reply from Book-a-Flat about them taking 700+ Euros from our security deposit to fix old tubing etc. that existed prior to our move-in, and failing to fix bathroom door or clothes washer for 1 month. Beware, this attitude and dismissal of customers is what awaits you!

REPLY to latest message from Book-a-Flat: No our concerns were not met!! 1 MONTH with no working bathroom door: it was jammed open so no privacy and no guests could stay. AND 1 MONTH with no working clothes washer. AND you took 700+ Euros from deposit to include repairs to old shower pipes. UNBELIEVABLE. We had extensive WhatsApp exchanges with the Book-a-Flat property manager (former employee of you who left recently, smart move!) in which we continually complained and reminded Book-a-Flat about the slow repair of the bathroom door/floor and the clotheswasher. I have all that evidence. So stop trying to undermine our complaint. Want photos?? We have loads of them.

Be professional and respond for your poor client service. Others with no issues in their apartments are so, so lucky since all they did was pay you and not have to rely on you for repairs, unlike us.

Still *zero* compensation after the worst experience with Book-a-Flat. Others may have had an OK experience if they were lucky enough that nothing went wrong with the property in terms of plumbing etc. -- but we did not. And Book-a-Flat's response was awful, hence this review.

AVOID IMO!!! They charged me for [quote] "replacement of shower joints" among other things, to update an old apartment that already had old and worn out fixtures!!... And this was after having left me during the rental for a month or more with (1) no working clothes washer and (2) a bathroom door that was jammed wide open!!!

**My response to Book-a-Flat's latest reply: I am sure that none of my fellow travelers and readers, would be willing to pay for "shower joints" that you claim are included in "French regulations". You took more than 700 Euros of my money, for "shower joints" and other minor things. You offered me about 200 Euros refund under the condition that I would remove my rightly poor reviews of Book-a-Flat, without any admission of error. I *very* generously said that less than half the amount you took (300 Euros) would be a minimum, given that nobody should have to pay for a flat owner's "shower joints" etc. You ignored this offer. So my reviews will stay, and hence will continue to serve as a harsh warning for future people looking at rental agencies for Paris.**

AVOID THEM (...IN MY OPINION AS A FREQUENT RENTER)!!!!
FURTHER UPDATE ABOUT BAD EPISODES DURING RENTAL: I am adding the following very negative facts that occurred during my rental through Book-a-Flat, all of which I have evidence for in emails/WhatsApp messages with Book-a-Flat representatives.
1. I did not have a working clothes washer for more than a month, while I was waiting for Book-a-Flat to arrange its repair. They were so slow and didn’t seem to care. So I had to pay to take my clothes to an outside laundry shop. This cost me substantially in time and money.
2. I could not close the bathroom door for more than a month, while I was waiting for Book-a-Flat to arrange its repair. Again so slow.
3. I did not have Internet for the first month, because Book-a-Flat did not know how to contact the person in charge of Internet connectivity for the flat. Unbelievable waste of time and money.

All this is IN ADDITION to the fact that they kept nearly half my security deposit to cover things like "shower pipes"(!) When I got the apartment, it and all its contents were old and worn out, the plumbing was terrible quality. And so they are effectively keeping my security deposit to pay for repairs that they or owner should have fixed years ago through a proper update in plumbing. Terrible!!!

Agence qui ne répond pas aux sms, appel, mails. Nous nous déplaçons sur Paris pour montrer notre intérêt à trouver un bien. On prend du bout des doigts nos coordonnées puis pour changer : toujours pas de prise de contact. Agence à fuir. Leur bien sont surcotés, il faut bien payé les marges de leurs mauvais commerciaux.

Pourquoi il ne faut pas faire confiance à Book à Flat

Notre expérience avec Book à Flat a été extrêmement décevante. Cette société s’est montrée peu transparente, et les collaborateurs n’ont pas hésité à dissimuler des informations cruciales pour réussir à louer les biens dont ils ont la charge.

En novembre 2022, nous avons visité un appartement meublé situé au 16 rue Bachaumont, Paris 2, et avons signé le bail quelques jours plus tard. Lors de notre emménagement, en attendant notre déménageur, nous avons entendu un bruit étrange qui s’est révélé être celui du RER A, circulant sous l’immeuble et provoquant des vibrations dès 5h30 chaque matin. Nous n’avions pas été informés de ce détail majeur avant la signature du bail. La propriétaire nous a confirmé qu’elle avait bien communiqué ce problème à l’agence, mais Book à Flat a choisi de ne pas nous en parler. Si nous avions su, nous n’aurions jamais choisi cet appartement. Pour répondre à Mr Stanislas Couteaux (Fondateur de Book a Flat ) : Il y a fort heureusement beaucoup d'appartements qui ne sont pas concernés par le bruit et j'habite Paris depuis 40 ans, je n'ai jamais eu ce probleme. Mais la vraie question est : Auriez-vous été fait preuve d'honnête en disant la vérité ? Oui, mais vous avez préféré ne pas l'être... et ça, ce n'est pas honnête de cacher la vérité.

À cela s’ajoutaient de nombreux autres problèmes : l’appartement n’était pas équipé d’une serrure, seulement d’un verrou ; il n’y avait pas de système d’aération ni de contrat d’entretien pour la chaudière. Nous avons également découvert une fuite dans la salle de bains, des rideaux fixés avec des fils de fer, une machine à laver défectueuse, des ampoules manquantes, l’absence de clés pour la boîte aux lettres, et un canapé en très mauvais état et un frigo cassé. Malgré nos demandes répétées, Book à Flat s’est montré incompétent pour effectuer les réparations et fournir une assistance adéquate. Nous avons finalement dû contacter la propriétaire en direct pour résoudre ces problèmes par nous-mêmes.

Pour répondre à Monsieur Stanislas Couteaux - Non Monsieur, nous n’avons pas résolu les problèmes avec vos collaborateurs, ils étaient incompétents, ne répondaient jamais au téléphone et surtout aucune réactivité.

Non Monsieur Stanislas Couteaux, vous êtes encore une fois en dehors du sujet. Ce n'est pas votre agence qui nous a mis en relation avec la propriétaire, mais c'est moi qui l'ai contacté directement à son cabinet. Décidément, vous êtes, comme vos collaborateurs, bien peu au courant des problématiques de vos clients.

Après 18 mois dans cet appartement, nous avons décidé de partir. Lors de l’état des lieux, un représentant de l’agence s’est montré particulièrement agressif et désagréable, prenant un plaisir apparent à souligner chaque détail pendant près de deux heures, avec des remarques malveillantes et déplacées, telles que « Vous ne m’approchez pas parce que je sens mauvais ». Une attitude honteuse et inacceptable.

Réponse à Monsieur Stanislas Couteaux, Je n'ai jamais mis en cause votre agence dans ce délai de 18 mois pour retrouver un logement contrairement à ce que vous sous-entendez, relisez mon commentaire.

Lorsque j’ai finalement pu joindre la cofondatrice, Géraldine de Fouquières, elle a reconnu être au courant du passage du RER sous l’immeuble et m’a répondu : « Oui, je savais, mais je n’ai pas jugé utile de vous le dire. » Elle n'a pas été franche, mais malhonnête.

Monsieur Stanislas Couteaux, si vous regrettez de ne pas avoir pu échangé avec moi avant, pourquoi ne m'avez-vous pas téléphoné quand je vous ai envoyé mon commentaire 24 heures avant de le publier et comme vous vous étiez engagé à le faire dans votre réponse linkedin ?

Ce manque de professionnalisme et de transparence est inexcusable. Pour ceux qui recherchent un logement, je conseille vivement d’éviter Book à Flat et de privilégier une société plus soucieuse de la satisfaction de ses locataires et surtout plus professionnelle.

Absolutely terrible. We used Pick a Flat in Paris. The apartment was guaranteed nonsmoking but when we checked in the whole place reeked of smoke. The furniture and bedding was smoke filled. The customer service was nonexistent. They delayed and didn’t respond then told us to open the windows. They said they had no other apartments to move into despite their being open online. We are waiting for a refund on the remaining days but would strongly encourage you not to stay here or use this company.
