Wir haben oft bei AE eingekauft - allerdings bisher immer vor Ort in den USA Stores. Die Qualität und der Kundenservice dort hatte überzeugt, so dass wir auch hier in Deutschland dann im Onlineshop 4 Jeanshosen bestellt haben. Im Kundenkonto wurde der Versand nie hinterlegt, es kamen jedoch 3 der 4 Jeanshosen bei uns an. Auf dem Lieferschein wurden auch diese 3 Jeanshosen aufgeführt - die 4. Jeanshose fehlte und wir kontaktierten den "Kundenservice" per Kontaktformular. nach 2 Tagen kam dann eine Info, dass wir uns gar keine Gedanken machen müssten, es kümmert sich jemand darum. 5 Tage später fragten wir nach und erhielten die Info, dass der Kundenservice noch keine Rückmeldung von den Kollegen erhalten habe - auch 10 Tage später lag nichts vor und wir baten um Stornierung oder Rücktritt. Dieser Wunsch wurde einfach ignoriert. Nach mehrfacher Aufforderung, unser Kundenkonto zu schließen und den offenen Vorgang dann zu schließen, wurde dann nach der gefühlten 10. Anfrage reagiert - 3 Tage später wurde unser Kundenkonto dann auch geschlossen, jedoch erhielten wir kurz zuvor eine Info, dass jetzt alles versandt wurde. Im Kundenkonto, was wir zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch aufrufen konnten, zeigte dann auch alle 4 Jeanshosen als versendet an. Der Link zur Sendungsverfolgung endete dann jedoch stets auf einer Seite, die uns einen 404 Error anzeigte (Seite nicht gefunden). Dies ist auch heute noch so - 30 Tage nach Bestellung. Die 4. Jeanshose wurde bis heute nicht geliefert, der Gesamtbetrag für 4 Jeanshosen wurde abgebucht und niemand meldet sich mehr! Das nennt man dann aus unserer Sicht einen klaren BETRUG! Wir haben bereits Anzeige erstattet und unserer Bank einen Chargeback Auftrag erteilt - schauen wir mal, wie das endet. Bei aeo.com werden wir jedenfalls nie wieder bestellen.

Take your money but not deliver
Order placed on the 4th and I was advised it was shipped on the 5th. Now it is the 20th and I still haven’t received it. I have contacted customer service several times, and they only said that there is an issue with the tracking but never let me know where my order is or when I will receive it. After the long wait, I decided to cancel the order and ask for a refund, but they refused and said that they cannot do so until they can confirm the parcel is lost in transit. I will not waste my money with them again.
Ocala Store under new management is excellent
I shopped on Black Friday (yes, I do that!), and had less than successful experiences in three major stores in the Ocala Paddock Mall. I went into American Eagle as a last resort, and from the moment I went in, my shopping time was so pleasant.
The guy who helped me was friendly and knew his store's product. He showed me every place the item I wanted was displayed, helped me find sizes, and was very kind. The girls in the dressing room got my name and called me by name, asking if they could get other sizes for me. Awesome! I asked to speak to the manager about my wonderful service, and it turned out the guy was an assistant manager! However, the store manager was also there, so I let her know what a delight it was to have real old-fashioned customer service in a retail store. The check-out gal was also friendly and competent. I have several new pieces of wardrobe now, and I look forward to shopping there in the future.

American eagle scamming on duties and taxes
I recently made an order on their online store, after putting down my address, the site Said in clear text that duties and taxes were prepaid paid by AE, only when the items arrived, it turned out that wasn't the case.
When I checked back, it turns out that there was a small question mark, seemingly explaining what they meant when they Said it was prepaid by them, only it also hid the information that my location as well as a few others were exempt from this.
Trying to talk with customer service was an infuriating futile endeavor, they refused to acknowledge anything, only repeating that they do not pay for duties and taxes in my location, I am not convinced I was even tallking to people, the answers feeling like they were generated by AI.
It seems the company is very much okay with scamming people, telling them Clearly that something is paid for, and then going back on that, and their customer service is horrible, meant to waste time untill you give up.
I won't be ordering from them again, and I suggest that anyone that does be extra careful.
Don’t use your debit card
Placed an order and paid with a major bank debit card. Email received in two minutes from AE and then from the bank that the order was processed.
Suddenly another email stating that American Eagle cancelled my order due to review needed of the card?! The card info and address are valid, but called customer service and they said it would take 24 to 48 hours to verify the information. Verify? Amazon just took the card an hour earlier without problem.
I will not ever attempt to do business with them again. These were for Christmas gifts.

I've been a customer of AE for over 20 years. I was unaware they changed their return policy to limit the number of days, as it's been the same for over 20 years. I wanted to exchange the color for an unworn, tags on with receipt item. They said they couldn't and had me call customer service, who wrote up a report and I got an email. So I had hope - but the email was generic and like a robot. I responded with my personal case and their response didn't acknowledge my long-term customer loyalty or experience, but asked me to understand them. I responded that no I didn't understand, and they responded with a generic policy explanation. SO RUDE. They also kept saying they value customers - clearly they do not. I called and it was more of the same, and the supervisor was laughing at me at the end. I am DONE with AE and Aerie.

Can't leave negative stars, but simply one of the worst online experiences i have ever had. Ordered a mens sweater on Nov, 17, received label created, Nov, 18. Another email shipped, Nov, 18 then nothing. UPS has no record other than label created. Received email from ae.com on Nov, 29 stating delivery failed, even though it was actually never shipped. It's now day 17 after ordering the sweater. I contacted ae.com and all they said package lost. Requested a refund and they weren't going to refund the shipping even though they never actually shipped the package. So was told have to wait 24-48 hrs for a response on the shipping cost. I just wanted a nice sweater for christmas. I just hate liars. Just shop elsewhere, it hasn't been worth the time lost I have spent on this.
Meh quality, even worse customer service
I bought a sweat suit recently. Shortly after, the black friday sale started, and they would not do a price adjustment for me because I was 2 days past the 14 day period, although i ordered online which took quite some time to get the product! I was told I would get an email back and never did when inquiring about this so I had to reach out twice myself looking for a resolution. Customer service is pretty terrible and there are way too many clothing companies out there to continue to support one like this. This sweatsuit quality is not worth the price I paid full price and sold out online so I'll be returning it since they would not do an adjustment for me.

"Buyers beware" exchange policy sucks!
I purchased a pair of athletic jeans from American Eagle in Michigan city. Upon trying them on I realized they were slim fit athletic jeans. Unfortunate for me I'd misplaced my receipt and when I tried to exchange them, for a regular fit at the American Eagle in Aurora, I was unable to. Apparently they have a policy that if you exchange without a receipt it has to be the same style. This is a retail store, I'm sure they deal with people losing their receipts all the time, "it happens" like with all retail stores but you should at least be able to exchange for what you actually want! Then I was told that if I would've opened an account I would've been able to exchange for whatever. So "buyers beware" read the fine print if you don't open an account with AE, and happen to loose your receipt... you're out of luck. Me having worked in retail myself this policy is unheard of! When I called Corporate they said they would reach out to me in 48 hours, they never did.... Poor Customer Service!
Klacht wordt niet opgepakt
De bestelling kwam snel en het geld van geretourneerde items ook, maar mijn klacht wordt niet opgelost. Een spijkerbroek is na 2 keer dragen zo ver opgerekt dat het zelfs met een riem niet meer te doen is. Ik heb een klacht ingestuurd, meteen reactie gehad om foto's en daarna al een maand niks meer gehoord. Ook niet op mijn nieuwe indieningen...

Worst customer service imaginable
Worst customer service imaginable. I've been wearing their jeans since 2000 and recently bought 3 more pairs. I washed them before wearing, as I always do. When trying then afterward, one pair is super loose and baggy, but all 3 are the same exact size and cut. Samantha in customer service just responded, "yeah, out sizes can vary , but we can't do anything about it since you washed them." There are hundreds of companies out there with customer service and products miles above ae.

Ordered items and got a shipping notification. Tracking never updated, package never actually existed. Contacted customer service for a refund and didn’t get any help for three weeks. Eventually filed a chargeback with my bank and miraculously received an immediate refund from customer service. It’s a pity i like their clothes but I will never order from them again

Worst experience ever with online shopping
Shipped my order fedex to a po box. Order placed 08 31 2034. Today is 09 12 24 package still with FedEx because FedEx won't deliver to a po box. Billed my card right away. Their customer service manager cannot make outgoing calls to call FedEx to have the address changed. What? This is unbelievable! Never order from American Eagle. I'm doing a charge back.
