A very professional company. Campers are well cared for and support, if needed, is always on hand; although we didn't need support as all worked well. Good attention to detail and smooth handovers.

I recently rented a motorhome from Wilderness Motorhomes and had an amazing experience. The customer service was exceptional, and the motorhome was in great condition with all the necessary amenities. The vehicle was easy to drive (enough power to go uphill and cross creeks), and the provided instructions made the process seamless.

Our family of 4 enjoyed the wall-to-wall king size bed at the back of the motorhome which allowed us to have a good rest with two small children.

Wilderness Motorhomes customer service responses where always quick and useful. Their website is full of great guides to help plan a vacation in New Zealand.

From the time we walked into the Christchurch branch to begin dropping off in Auckland the experience was brilliant. Really nice people and very well prepared van. We spent two months travelling NZ the times we needed to contact the office they were always there. Adjusting the ferry times etc. thanks again for the service

We booked a Wilderness Double for 2 from Auckland and had a wonderful trip exploring the North Island of New Zealand for a month. The van was spacious and well appointed with everything we needed including ample linen. Wilderness is possibly the only NZ company that doesn’t have road restrictions in the contract and the vehicles are relatively new. Ours only had 6000km on the clock when we collected it. The thing we appreciated the most though was the outstanding support we received from the company. We had a minor incident with a burst water pipe which drained our water tanks one evening. We rang the 24/7 help line very early the next morning and were directed to a marine repair business nearby to our location soon after. The pipe was fixed and we were back on the road by mid morning. I’m not sure if any other motorhome companies offer such a reliable and efficient service. A few tips if you are thinking of making a booking: We hired e-bikes for the month from Bionic bikes in Auckland which I’d recommend as it allows so much more flexibility when we arrived at our campsites. We would also recommend taking out the full insurance package to ensure a worry free trip. The roads in NZ can be challenging and it allows peace of mind. We paid for the Wifi and Smart TV package as well as the bike rack which we were glad to have. The staff at Wilderness could not have been more accommodating. Thanks to Diego especially. If you are considering hiring a Wilderness Motorhome, do it. It may cost a little more but the on road support and quality of the vehicle are definitely worth it! We are now considering another trip with Wilderness to explore the South Island.

Everything worked exactly as planned. Company very quick to respond to emails, requests etc. All staff very polite and personable.
Van was excellent, a German motor home which drove and handled really well. Very clean and comfortable.

We did a 11 day southern island trip with “the suite” wilderness motorhome and it was an incredible experience.

The team at wilderness were professional and provided quality service throughout. Emails were answered in detailed and the arrangements were flawless.

The motorhome itself was suitable for 2 adults and kids. Sufficient space and logistics with comfortable beds for a motorhome. Even when it was windy and hailing at Mt Cook at 2am, the motorhome was warm and comfortable.

There was some wear and tear as we started using the motorhome but that is to be expected.

Some things to note:
- the pots, pans and utensils need cleaning before use
- the stove knobs are fragile and came off easily
- camping table is too flimsy to be used
- the privacy door came off the rails due to the vibration while driving on NZL roads

Overall, the motorhome was new and gave us a positive first experience in NZL. 👍

Everything about Wilderness was easy and professional. Booking was simple with very helpful staff. Pick up was seamless and information given was superb. A phone call on the second day made sure we were happy with everything and when we wanted to change our ferry booking, it was painless. Drop off in Auckland was just as straightforward and we would highly recommend Wilderness for a camper van trip in New Zealand and we would certainly use them again.

The service from staff on pick up and drop off was excellent, staff were very informative, welcoming, helpful, courteous and clear about using the campervan. We had the double for 4 camper.
There were a few things about the camper I did not like. 3 adults travelled in our camper. The configuration was not user friendly. There was a step up ( into bed area and a step behind the driver and we continued tripping down or up them. The main bed was too high and there was minimal space on each side of the bed. The pull down bed was easy to operate. Both beds were uncomfortable however I’m aware we were travelling in a camper so this was not an inner spring mattress. It was fully equipped but I think quite a small kitchen, dining area and difficult for 3 people to manoeuvre in.. I would consider another configuration if I went with wilderness again.

We have had "The Suite" for 7 Days this October 2024 from Wilderness Motorhomes Christchurch. We(2 adults 2 kids) were picked up at the airport by Denise, arriving at site she gave us a warm welcome an a very intensive briefing to the Camper. And Denise offered is to leave our luggage at their premises. The Suite model was around 2 and half year old and in excellent condition. Some minor wear and tear at the back lounge. But that's not affect the practicability. The one other problem we have had the seating for our kids(1 year and 3 years) because of the table in the front, they cannot sit properly and its not possible to recline when the sleep. There is no option to remove the table while driving. That cause littlie difficult for them. Apart from that, it's very clean and tidy as they said. The van was very nice to drive with a rather unusual layout for NZ motorhomes, however we loved lying in bed in the morning, opening the windows and watching the sunrise. And other good thing is they called as the first morning and ask about the sleep and all. That's a support for us. keep it up. Also, we don't have any other issues with the van. Before return date, we will get another email about things we need to do before drop off the van. That gives as more idea what should we do. After return of the Van, which was super easy and relaxed, we got a warm welcome again. This time, Brigid Welcomes as and Franco dropped off at the airport. This is the first time we hire a campervan, and i selected this company after reading so many reviews and the details they provide on their website. Everything as they said. Will be back again for sure and recommend 100%. Not cheap, but well worth the money. 5/5 well deserved!

We rented a Motorhome for 18 days and picked it up from Auckland. Our first road trip experience. They picked us up from the airport and they took all the time to explain everything, and they even gave some amazing location tips. The car was exactly as we reserved so no surprises. Also, it was like new, super clean and with everything what was needed inside the van.
The bedding was clean and comfy. A nice big fridge and everything was functioning as it should be. The colder nights, the van was heated up easily. We did not need extra gas, we never were short in electricity or water.
They were always online, for questions. The first day they even called to check in to see if we were okay.
The explanation booklet that came with the care was super easy to read.
We had an amazing stay on the beautiful Island with the super luxury van.

The drop off went as easy as the pickup, and they dropped us off directly at the airport again.
It is a trustworthy company managed directly by the owners.
Be warned with the many other rental companies around and before you choose, please check the reviews and read the contract.
We recommend Wilderness Motorhomes for 100%! They deliver what they promise.
Some lessons we have learned:
- At Wilderness they may offer you an internet package for the total trip. Take it. We discovered that we did not have enough because during navigating on road we used a lot of data. (google maps)
- Do not use normal toilet paper, it gets stuck, and you need to peal it out one by one.
- Bring plastic levelling ramps to level the motorhome. It brings so much more comfort while cooking and sleeping.

Excellent customer service from start to finish. The team treated us as guests and couldn’t be more helpful. The van was nearly new and in excellent shape. “Easy as” to drive and manoeuvre. The branded cups, glasses and tea towels were a nice touch.

We had the best time cruising in the Wilderness Double for Four! It was perfect for my family and it has the top amenities! My favourite part is all the storage. Every bit of clothing, food item, toys, and accessories, all pack away nicely. We even fit the kids' bikes in the storage below. We love these motorhomes and the staff always go above and beyond! Can't recommend them enough.

We collected our Wilderness motorhome from Christchurch on 8th July and spent 3 weeks making our way to Auckland. The hand-over by Sophia was excellent, the motorhome was very clean and in excellent working order, the motorhome heating kept us warm in the New Zealand winter, the apps recommended by Wilderness were very useful indeed and the internet connectivity from the motorhome was amazing even in remote places. One benefit of touring in the low season was that we only once found a campsite fully booked. We really enjoyed ourselves.

From booking to completion of trip was easy, enjoyable and affordable. Friendly, helpful staff. Great Motorhomes.

We started our journey from Christchurch in our 4 birth campervan.We were collected by their midi van from the Novetel hotel at the airport. After an initial hiccup of me discovering that I had left my drivers licence in Australia (Thank goodness I had used Wilderness before as they had my details on file from 2019) we set off for the Catlins.
We had a slight issue with the engine electrics the following day which after a call to Wilderness support and a visit to Roy's auto shop in Dunedin the problem was fixed.
Wilderness support called us back to check that everything was inorder and we continued our trip.
At this time of year it's particularly cold and I did enjoy the vehicles central heating and double glazing.
We toured the whole south travelling through Milford sound and Queenstown.
The motor home was easy to drive and exceptionally comfortable to sleep in.
We went for the VIP package which I believe was good value for money...one extra thing you now get with this package is that you don't have to pay to refill the gas cylinders.
This as I have said is our second time of using Wilderness. We have used both offices (Christchurch and Auckland) and we have found the staff both friendly and helpful.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Wilderness Motorhomes to my family and friends.

Excellent service from booking online, pickup and drop off. We did a lot of research on choosing our motorhome provider and Wilderness came out on tops for us and the online reviews really helped. They were very accommodating over email to answer all our questions and assist with our booking. Pickup was super smooth and the motorhome itself was of excellent quality throughout and seamless to drive. Likewise drop off was was seamless. The Wilderness crew are just so helpful, friendly and professional and always there to answer any questions you may have. On the road support is also really efficient if you do encounter any issues and they are keen to ensure nothing disrupts your holiday.
