Un desastre total
Extremely disappointing and concerning experience.
We have been dealing with serious issues in the campervan for several days now: no heating and faults with the 240V electrical system, which is especially serious while travelling during winter and fully depending on the vehicle.
What has been even worse than the breakdown itself is the way the company has handled the situation. Instead of arranging a prompt professional inspection, for days we have been asked to carry out technical troubleshooting ourselves: checking panels, switches, settings and even trying to find error codes, as if customers were expected to have mechanical or electrical expertise.
On top of that, we are constantly told that we “need to cooperate”, while at the same time being given waiting times of up to 4 days for them to attempt to find a possible solution that they cannot even guarantee. So not only have we had to deal with the stress and inconvenience caused by the faults, but also with complete uncertainty about when — or even if — the issue will actually be resolved.
We rented a campervan expecting a safe, functional and properly maintained vehicle, not to spend part of our trip trying to diagnose technical problems ourselves.
After multiple messages, calls and repeated checks on our side, we still do not have a real solution. The constant feeling has been a lack of responsibility and very limited support regarding a serious issue that directly affects comfort, safety and the overall customer experience.
What is most concerning is the lack of professionalism in the handling of such a serious situation. A rental company should have much faster and more effective procedures when essential vehicle systems fail.
I would not recommend this company to anyone expecting efficient and responsible support when real problems occur during a trip.

We are sorry to read that you were dissatisfied with your experience.
Our records show that our Tech Support team remained in regular contact with you over several days via email and WhatsApp in an effort to assist with the reported heating and 240V concerns. As part of the troubleshooting process, our team requested the heater fault code and guided you through standard reset procedures, as these systems can sometimes be resolved remotely without unnecessarily interrupting a customer’s travel plans.
When the issue could not be resolved remotely, a workshop appointment was arranged in Murchison for professional inspection and repair of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the vehicle did not attend the scheduled workshop appointment and subsequently left the area before inspection could be completed.
We fully appreciate that technical issues while travelling can be stressful and inconvenient, particularly during colder weather conditions. However, in order for us to diagnose and resolve any reported issue, we must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and repair the vehicle through an arranged workshop.
We remain willing to work with you towards a resolution and have asked that you advise your current location so further workshop assistance can be arranged if required.

Trip to New Zealand, magnificent, but...
A nearly two-month trip in 2025. The vehicle was practically new. We encountered two problems. First, a faulty refrigerator connection and a bathroom door that kept loosening and making a terrible noise. The repair service was impeccable and quick. Unfortunately, we damaged one side of the roof. Insurance doesn't cover this type of incident (even the most comprehensive policy, so be careful!). They required a $5,000 deposit for this. Once the assessment and repair were completed, they were supposed to inform us of the cost and refund the excess deposit. We never received anything (no email or document). Following our complaint, they quickly contacted us and explained the reasons (first assessment too high, second assessment acceptable, repair, processing delay). They acknowledged the lack of communication and apologized. They should therefore refund us a very reasonable amount. I appreciate their responsiveness and the effort they put into resolving this matter quickly. So, overall, despite this lack of communication, we are very satisfied.

Following your contact, we have now fully reviewed your booking (44631) and would like to clarify the repair and refund transparently.
After the damage occurred, an initial quotation obtained in Auckland assumed a full replacement of the affected roof section, which would have resulted in a very high repair cost and likely the full loss of your excess. Instead, we reassessed the repair approach in your interest and obtained a second quotation from an MTA approved repairer in Christchurch. This confirmed that a targeted repair was sufficient, resulting in a significantly lower final repair cost.
We can confirm that only the actual repair cost has been charged, with no markups or additional fees applied.
Regarding the timing, the repair process spanned across November and January, and final invoices are processed through monthly workshop statements. At the time, our insurance processing was also running behind, which contributed to the delay. While this was not an oversight, we fully acknowledge that the lack of communication during this period caused uncertainty, and we apologise for that.
We have now completed the review of your case and can confirm that the refund of the remaining balance has been processed back to your credit card.
We hope that this full clarification provides reassurance that the matter has been handled fairly and transparently.

An excellent trip
We have just finished a fabulous 4 weeks in our Koru 2 Freedom. Ours may well have been been the smallest (and at 200K miles - the oldest?) in their range but she served us pretty well, whilst showing her age at times. The tech team were responsive and helpful when we had a few questions. Our only substantive niggle? The 'camping chairs' which were more like 'office folding chairs'... we suggest you take your own if you want to relax outside and watch the sun set. All in all though, we had a lovely time. Regarding the camping chairs, we understand that preferences can vary. The chairs we provide are intentionally chosen because they are extremely durable and typically last 10 years or more in commercial use. They are supplied by Alloyfold, an accredited Social Trader whose products are built to last and whose profits support community initiatives such as employment pathways and rehabilitation programmes.
From our perspective this approach has two important advantages. Firstly, the chairs are at a proper table height, which allows guests to sit comfortably and eat meals outside. Secondly, their long lifespan significantly reduces waste, as many softer “bag style” camping chairs tend to break or wear out quickly and end up in landfill.
We appreciate your feedback though, as everyone enjoys relaxing outdoors in their own way. We are glad you had a lovely journey overall and thank you again for travelling with Wendekreisen.

Nieuw Zeeland bezoeken is een aanrader wij zijn 7 weken daar geweest verdeeld over het noord en zuider eiland de camper was zeer comfortabel wij hadden ook de VW bus voor drie personen maar dan voor ons tweetjes de camper voldeed aan onze verwachtingen we hadden alleen pech met de watertank maar dat is met behulp van Stacy opgelost waarvoor dank Stacy
En ja volgende keer kiezen wij weer voor Wendekreisen

I can’t fault this company
I can’t fault this company. We wanted to book a Koru star 2 berth but they were fully booked for our trip. Luckily for us they offered us the Koru star 3 berth which worked perfectly. The only difference was that 4 top cupboards were replaced with a bunk. This was so convenient for storing our wheeled holdalls for our 4 week adventure. We were greeted by Calvin at the Christchurch depot who explained everything that we needed to know about the van, and gave us tips on supermarkets, fuel and everything else we asked. The van, towels, bedding were all clean. At first sight of the bed, we thought we might not get much sleep (first time in a camper van) but, honestly, we’ve never slept as well. The van performed brilliantly for the whole duration of our trip, no problems whatsoever. We returned the van to Auckland and again, greeted by a lovely lady, who arranged a taxi to take us to the city. The recycling shelves in both depots are a great little touch, we took a few bits in Christchurch and deposited more in Auckland.

Excellent All Round Experience
Wendekreisen distinguishes itself with very prompt, accurate and detailed communication, plus very kind, considerate and knowledgeable service from their team. Our Volkswagen camper was almost new and in super condition.
We had a very happy time in our camper and traveled 2600 kms in 14 days around the South Island. The mid winter weather was mostly perfect albeit pretty cold.
Wendekreisen's winter price deal gave us the chance to enjoy a holiday which we could not afford at peak season rates.
Would we hire from this company again? Sure thing. We know how they operate and that they really look after their customers.

Great value, highly recommended
The van was just what I needed and expected, apart from a few small details (eg incorrect hose connector, not enough cups & not enough bedding).
The staff were very helpful and responsive.
Overall great value for money and a really comfortable van to sleep in and drive. I would definitely recommend Wendekreisen to others.

Excellent customer service, excellent/comfortable 4 berth campervan
Amazing dealing with wendekreisen, from start to finish, simple booking process, friendly staff at pick up and drop off, and immaculately clean campervan at pick up, fully equipped for our nz campervan experience. The van was amazing as had diesel heating, and with solar panels on roof our battery's never went flat, our fridge stayed on the whole trip, even with overcast weather. The vehicle exceeded our expectations, and after exploring the north island , am already going to book with wendekreisen for a south island campervan trip. Would rate wendekreisen 10 out of 10,
