Wattbike proton

Like the fit and feel of the bike. But the noise that it makes is borderline unacceptable, for a near 2k bike. So loud and makes a ton of vibration through the pedals. Expect a lot better for the money.

Bike had an issue from receiving…

Bike had an issue from receiving delivery. Extremely noisy and vibrating through crank shaft.
Problems when trying to return due to AI agreeing collection date and then it never got collected after rearranging work to be at home.
Also if you return because you’re not happy with product there is a £200 charge. Thankfully they identified the issue and refunded me in full.

Overall I think the trainer is over priced and poorly made.

I wouldnt recommend this product.

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the error made by our AI assistant, which incorrectly confirmed a collection date that hadn't been booked. I completely understand how frustrating this was, especially after you had arranged to be at home. Once I became aware of the issue, I personally arranged for the bike to be collected the following week.

Unfortunately, because the bike had already been packaged up ready for collection following the AI error, I wasn't able to carry out our usual troubleshooting with you beforehand. We always try to diagnose issues remotely where possible and are transparent throughout our fault-finding process to ensure we reach the fairest outcome for our customers.

Once the bike was returned to us and tested by our technicians, we identified a genuine fault. As a result, we refunded you in full, rather than applying our standard return charge for non-faulty products.

I'm sorry that your experience fell short, but I do appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, as it helps us continue improving both our service and our AI processes

Pretty good system (proton)

Pretty good system (proton), the drive train doesn’t feel as good as others I have used and it can be slow to respond.

Wattbike Trainer Service

I've had the Wattbike Trainer 3 years so decided a service was advisable.
The company, based in Whitehaven Cumbria sorted out a time to come.
The engineer (John) was brilliant and went far above my expectations. You could tell he new everything about Wattbikes. He changed all necessary parts and although I had no issues with the bike the difference and smoothness now of the ride is very noticeable.
Well worth the money.
I hope Wattbike pass on such comments to the company involved.

Basic bike service

Decided on a service as bike had a lot of miles on from new, running mostly fine but a little noisy and in need of some TLC.

Edward was friendly, advised arrival time in advance and was clean and tidy throughout. Bike has a back to new feel now and customer service was excellent throughout, very pleased.

Had the wattbike a few years now

Had the wattbike a few years now , heavy use, overdue service , seemed pricey but bit the bullet. The service agent replaced so many items , practically a new machine , well worth the money.

Delivery of a brand new Proton 6 weeks…

Delivery of a brand new Proton 6 weeks ago. Intially some problems with the bike new out the box; completed all the suggested home fixes, to no avail. After a wee mix up an engineer visited and said the new bike needed replacement parts. The parts arrived promptly and the engineer appointment the week after. A slow start, but Charlotte at Wattbike was very helpful and now had a successful first few pedals.

I did speak with you on the phone, and I’m glad we were able to get everything resolved. I can confirm that the replacement parts have now been fitted and your bike is fully working again.

There was a miscommunication around the follow-up appointment. This was booked in with your wife once the parts had arrived, however we should also have confirmed this with you directly in writing. That would have avoided the uncertainty and frustration caused, and I’m sorry that didn’t happen on this occasion.

Over priced, in my opinion

The only reason for the low score is because I can take my £12,000 road bike for a full service where it’s totally stripped bearings are all cleaned out and the professional mechanic that carries out that Service works for world tour teams he charges £210 , and then there’s watt Bike , the mechanic is there for 30 minutes changes the chain and the charge is nearly £200.

I appreciate your comparison, and I completely understand why the cost of a Wattbike service may initially seem high when compared with servicing a road bike.

I did try to give you a call to discuss this further and left you a voicemail, as I wanted the opportunity to explain what is included within our service.

During a Wattbike service, our specially trained engineers carry out a comprehensive inspection of the bike and replace all moving wear-and-tear components as standard. Our engineers receive in-house training specifically on Wattbike products to ensure that the bike continues to perform accurately and reliably.

The service cost also includes the engineer travelling to your home, meaning you do not have the inconvenience of transporting the Wattbike elsewhere for servicing. We appreciate that this convenience is an important consideration for many customers.

That said, we do appreciate your feedback regarding the cost of servicing, and we will ensure it is passed on internally.

Highly recommended, servicing is top notch too.

Have had Wattbikes for a number of years now, originally the V1 and latterly the V2.
Great bits of kit and solidly built.
Highly recommend the servicing to keep them in best condition. Just had mine serviced by Edward who was very thorough and took time to explain how the bike worked. New bar tape, shifter batteries, hoods and chain so well worth the cost given the hours of use I get out of it.

A bit disgruntled really

It takes so dam long to get anything done , the company if it is as large as I imagine really ought to employ more people on Customer services but there's not as much profit in that is there? but like most companies they can't do enough for you till they have the sale then all of a sudden they seem to be very busy and need 4 days to reply just to an E-mail but if you offer them money for the unnecessary service then they seem to have an almost immediate service readily available 😃 I am willing to hear a reason for this.

Our Customer Support team is a small, UK-based team located at our Nottingham headquarters. Response times can vary depending on seasonal demand and staff availability, as all of our support staff are trained in-house to ensure they have the specialist knowledge required to support our products.

Having reviewed your case, I can see that we responded to your enquiries within our published service levels. It is also worth noting that sending additional replies to an existing ticket before a member of the team has responded can sometimes move the ticket back in the queue, which may affect when it is picked up.

It was good to speak with you on the phone recently, and I hope that we were able to address your concerns and provide a satisfactory resolution. If there is anything further that you need, please don't hesitate to get back in touch.

We purchased the Proton

We purchased the Proton. It was easy to assemble but we could not connect the bike to the Wattbike hub. We tried all of the suggestions, including rebooting and switching accounts and devices. Finally had to consult Gemini to find a phone number in the US for customer service. The agent could not help because they are not familiar with the Proton! The only option was to email Wattbike and wait for a response. While we were waiting we decided to remove the lower panel and found a disconnected power line. Fortunately one of us is familiar with the wiring of bikes like this and was able to fix it. So the bike is nice but your customer service…. Not so much.

It sounds as though the disconnected power cable was the root cause of the connection issue, and I apologise that this was not identified sooner. I'm glad that you were able to resolve this, although we certainly wouldn't expect customers to have to investigate internal wiring themselves.

Great product and workout data

I'm really enjoying my Proton. The entire purchasing process was very easy and the the free workouts and data analysis are great. I have actually come to look forward to getting on the Proton so I can see my data. I have also incorporated some things like PES ( and methods to improve it) to my outdoor cycling experience and feel it's added to my performance. The delivery of the Proton went fine, though the delivery date was delayed, apparently due to my location. It took about 3 weeks to get the bike and it seemed to sit in a warehouse for a prolonged period. I ended up having to contact the delivery service a few times. Overall I am very happy with the product.
