Walker Slater was founded in the Scottish Highland town of Laggan, 1989. A year later we opened our first store in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town—the picturesque Victoria Street. Our once small shop has grown gradually, flourishing into a thriving menswear flagship. Upon this journey we tried out a rail of ladies garments, which gradually became a whole section and later a dedicated store! At Walker Slater, we take the traditional and breathe new life into it. Our main inspiration is our heritage and Scotland’s natural beauty. At the core of our collections is tweed; from the hardest wearing Harris Tweed to the softest blend of cashmere wool. Alongside it we use a selection of fine materials such as lambswool, silk and linen to create traditional clothing with a modern edge. We believe in quality, timeless clothing and work hard to develop looks that are beautiful and functional. Our hand-picked selection of complementary accessories from British and European manufacturers are sold in every store, just in case you need that finishing touch.

With Carla’s friendly guidance on style and colour I bought a stylish coat and ordered a kilt to wear with it.
Desperate to wear this outfit in the winter however delivery of the kilt was lengthy . This was out of the stores control. However I was advised throughout by Carla.
The kilt fits like a glove, perfectly matches the coat. I i feel a million dollars wearing this outfit .

I love the help
I love the help, and the replies, which is why this is getting four not three stars. But I measured myself perfectly, and with a friend's help and this is swimming on me. I guess it's good since going down in size means more options but I might need to go down two sizes. And I'm a big girl. Wow.

Most impressed with the menswear shop in Victoria Street, fine quality shirts and knitwear at very reasonable prices. A special thankyou to Brigid for carefully ordering the particular Lachlan shirts which I wanted. The shop itself is beautifully appointed, a pleasure to enter and to browse in, like one of those fancy shops in Burlington Arcade, though without their skyhigh prices

Beautifully woven sport coat/jacket. Being on the aging athletic cut side, the regular 46 fits wonderfully through the chest and waist and length. Sleeves may be a touch long, but easy enough with a tailor in the city. The free DHL shipping got it to me 3 days earlier than anticipated.

Superb service
I was looking for an elegant 3 piece suit for events/races etc. So having found Walker Slater I went into the Edinburgh store to have a look at what they had re styles colours and sizes. I am not very tall and of very slim build, so have a problem generally finding things which fit properly.
I saw a number of colours and styles I liked so asked if they had my size.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Scouring the store and back room to find what I was looking for. They even stripped a dummy (mannequin) for me in the store to let me see/try on garments. The sizing for off the peg garments was very good especially for me.
Tried on the suit I liked, and they ensured that the final sizing would be correct as it was being sent to the tailors for the trouser leg length - so I added some other alterations like sleeve length correction on the jacket.
They said it would likely take 7 - 10 days for the tailoring. It was ready in 5.
Went into the store to pick up the suit and again. Superb service where we tried it on to ensure I was happy before leaving.
Very happy and I shall be back again in the future. The staff are a credit to them.
