Learned so many things and discovered new ones. Hoping for continuing improvement so every beginner for bass will learn fast and more motivation to use bass guitar.

I enjoy the site and the way Mark breaks down the subject matter so understandably. He explains with out pretexts and makes it simple to understand. Great!!

I wish I had more time to take all the courses. :) Mark has a really nice personality and explains things well so it's pleasure to learn.

I'm just a beginner, but Mark from TalkingBass has been a great mentor and teacher through both his paid and free video content lessons and materials. I've also really enjoyed picking his brain on a few topics during his Live video chats on Saturday mornings (United States). Again, I'm just a beginner, but the curriculum looks great and I'm looking forward to digging in during the months and years ahead.

Chanced upon Mark J. Smith some years ago on You Tube. Heard a bass riff, copied the said riff by ear, felt i had cracked it....until i discovered Talking Bass.....then, after a year of intense study on the site and after 30 years of being a BASSIST I now consider myself an able MUSICIAN and BASS EDUCATOR, something i could never have bragged about before. My musical theoretic knowledge has improved exponentially and had overtaken my practical expertise, Mark J.Smith and Talking Bass has no equals both in education and in web site construction. Mark, I really enjoy not only your lessons but the style of teaching, despite the fact that I've been playing for about 15 years I feel that the way you talk to your online students makes us feel that you understand that we are here to learn (learning to read Music)

I personally think Marks style and ability to effectively communicate a full bass lesson, on so many styles of playing as well as differing technical abilities is top drawer.
His personal demeanor is like speaking with one of people you may jam with.
His online lessons have helped make me a better bass player.

My guitar teacher handed me a beat up bass because she needed someone to play it in a Christmas show. I found TalkingBass online, after trying a few others, and Mark's lessons were the clearest, most direct, comprehensive ones out there. I finally bought my own bass, using Mark's advice, and bought the Beginners Package.
The weekly drills and techniques always come in when I need that extra push. Great stuff!

Great man, as non-english speaker I do understand !!

After watching a couple of video lessons on youtube I decided to purchase my own bass and start following along the lessons from the website.

The great thing is that Talkingbass is made to help you learn on a variety of music topics: theory, harmony, technical aspects and basslines.

Compared to other sites that seem to be more "look how awesome I am, oh and btw, here's a sample lesson for you"

I would give TalkingBass a 6 star if there was one to give. I have learned a lot from Mark Smith since I first stumbled onto his page sometime in 2016. He is really a gifted bass guitar music instructor and an excellent bass player. Go and review every free youtube videos he created (I am not a member, just YouTube subscriber), he is really good on explaining all aspects of bass playing from beginner to advance level and he does this without boring his audience in a manageable time! Whether his video is 2 minutes or 40 minutes, I stay engaged to the end. Two Thumbs up Mark, excellent job.

From beginner to advanced Mark is the best. He keeps the emphasis on YOU learning to play.
Some of the other guys spend too much time emphasizing big name pro players and studio gigging
Or they just review new gear.
Talking bass keeps it about teaching technique and practical application.
If you're a beginner then this is the spot most especially for you. Mark will have you jamming soon enough.

I have only just watched one lesson on YouTube about playing funk rhythms 3 days ago and have got the basic timings right which has really helped & just exploring the rest.
To play as well as the lesson is the aim so suitable for beginners too advanced.

Talking bass Lessons are great for the money. What you pay for 1 course. Is what you pay for maybe 1 or 2 private bass lessons. Plus on talking bass you get videos with your lessons and you always can come back to review them. The lesson are also will though out. They progress while you progress. SO If you not a beginner you can start at level you might be in. I've purchased a few of his course to go along with my bass lesson. Its always good to have a Professional tell you what your doing wrong and what you need work on also to answer any questions. There's so much to learn. Thanks for your courses, and keep those videos coming Mark!

Mark is the absolute bass instructor I have found online!!! Pretty much all of what I have learned I can apply iny playing!! He is very detailed and not short, rushed lessons!!

These lessons have been a huge help. I can learn parts accurately in much less time, and many tips have helped me improve my technique and become a better bass player. Thank you Mark!!

Mark is a true expert, best teacher on the net and here's why. Mark's complete break down of each one of his lessons be it from his youtube video's to his member packet learning videos are all carefuly broken down to the most comprehensive and easy to understand method that anyone from the age of 3 to 100 can totaly understand and follow. He's very professional, yet very witty, what he teaches is fun and challanging. Never a dull moment. And if you have questions, he will answer you! I bought his simple steps to walking bass and love every step of it so far!

I'm an absolute beginner on the bass, and Mark's video lessons are perfect for me. He takes it slow, and gives you exercises to do. Even though he's experienced and a great bass player himself, he's not forgotten what it's like to be a beginner. Not everyone who can do something well makes for a great teacher, but Mark does.

I would say talking Bass is, without fail, the best place for bassists to go and learn! All of Mark’s lessons are top notch.... In my humble opinion, he is the best instructor/teacher out there - he actually breaks things down and explains them clearly!
I just cannot say enough good things about this site, or this gifted man!!!
