The best teacher for online bass sessions. The book "Walk That Bass" is perfectly structured and explains all the steps clearly and comprehensibly. Background information and context make the theory understandable and, most importantly, playable on the bass! Perfect!

I have been using TalkingBass now for a couple of years I find Marks tutorials very easy to follow and intuitive I regularly go back to prior lessons to recap and practice this is defy the best platform available

I really like the course,Its very good,practical,and precise,I m not having any issues so far,since i m a total beginner(slap)

The only struggle i have is that my english isn t that strong,so i have to re-watch the lessons a few times to fully understand whats going on. Best regards

I've been using TalkingBass for nearly a year now, there are courses I keep going back to(old learner and slow) and I am always surprised on how accessible financially the courses are when you see the quality put into them. On top of that, it's a lifetime access.. no yearly subscriptions. I have learned so much with Mark's paid courses and also the free videos!

Talking Bass is the course site I chose to go with over many other ones I explored. Mark Smith is an awesome teacher. He knows his bass and is a great communicator. Money well spent on a musical journey with the bass.

I joined talking bass and paid for the full access course and was told that it never expires and now i can not seem to get on the paysite no matter what id do it only lets me on the free side

This course helped me to see chord structure and why the notes are what they are to each chord. I was able to learn the basics of each chord and apply them to any key. Most importantly it helped me to learn the notes on the whole neck so that I could explore and play fearlessly up and down the neck as I've always wanted to do. I've been playing for 40 years and always played chords in the first five frets. That's not very helpful when you need a smoother sound. The grooves really help you hone in the whole fretboard in a non-scary way while teaching you chord construction at the same time.

I'd highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to really improve their skills while having fun. Mark does a great job of doing this in a fun manner. You won't be disappointed.

I am madly in love with these courses, Mark has turned my game all the way around. So far I have bought four courses and intend to get more. Mark deserves an A plus for his teaching skills. There is enough things to do and learn for your entire lifetime. I guarantee anyone you wont be dissapointed.

I've always had great difficulty playing acceptable walking bass. This method is helping me a lot. It is built step by step starting with the use of ascending fifths on turn 1625 of C. It is really well done. the best I have found to study so far. Sincere thanks to maestro M.J.Smith

I really like this course. Started playing couple of years ago. Took Bass Buzz course. Since my main interest is jazz, the Walking Bass course seemed a good fit for me. I am about 70% through. Good course, and I have learned lots. I can do much of the stuff Mark teaches on my own now. I will say, he moves at a pretty quick clip and I would not recommend this for beginners. Often I have to stop for a day or two (or 3 or 4) and work through the content at a much slower pace. I highly reommend this course.

I made a free account with Talking Bass, and was looking around at what beginner programs are on-offer. I tried to join the Facebook group by the same name, and was immediately blocked - no reasons were given at the time, and when I had realised I was blocked, I reached-out and whilst my message was viewed, no response was ever received. I was hoping to ask others in the community about the right course for an absolute beginner, but no such community exists.

I started the 'Simple Steps to Sight reading' Volume 1 and I find it a very user friendly format and the Step - by - Step approach is really good to follow.
Even at the end of Level 1, I felt that I had really achieved something, being able to sight read and play the sample pieces.
I am looking forward to getting into the rest of the course, having already purchased Volume 2.

Great course!!! I've nearly completed this 2nd Slap Bass course and what a huge difference it's made to my ability. Mark's EDP style of training really fits all. Well explained, impressive demos and music sheets to practise to make it enjoyable and easy to follow. If you're pondering over what slap bass course may be best for you, look no further because there is no better course out there. If you're new to slap bass then do course 1 first, it totally primes you for course 2.

Really enjoyed the course. Good video lessons. I am working through the songs in the book. I enjoy playing walking jazz bass lines. So yes great tuition.

Loving The Bassic Fundamentals course, which is super helpful. It leads me down sidetracks; I'm currently practicing triads/7ths/Progressions, which was introduced in Module 2, but it always leads you back to the fundamentals as you proceed through the course, a fantastic foundation course, totally recommended

Almost halfway course. Been playing bass for aprox 30 years and still new things and technique appears. Slapping is new for me, was looking for new challenge. Mark is a great teacher and explains everything in a simple way. I am sure to take more courses in the future. Thank you TalkingBass !!

Mark is an excellent teacher and the materials are professionally produced and very structured.

I like the fact that it isn't a subscription model. Just buy the course you want and it is yours for life.

Excellent!! Easy to follow and learn. Mark makes it easy and fun to learn. Picking things up easily after a month on deciding to learn Bass. Will continue to learn from Mark and Talking Bass.

Well worth the money. A great way to dive deeper into playing bass.
