would recommend

Initially spoke to the funding department who confirmed that i was eligible for the funding, i got a call within a week for a survey. the man who came to survey our house was great, the fellas who installed our insulation and boiler were brilliant too, very happy with the work

Excellent Service

I had my boiler fitted by Paul the engineer. He was professional, informative and very tidy in his work. He corrected old pipe work and explained how to use the heating controls properly to get the best efficiency out of our new system.
I couldn't recommend Simple Heating Services enough.

Boiler replacement.

I have given 4 stars because the gas fitter and his mate were both very polite and excellent at the way they did the job. Getting the old boiler out was tricky but they persisted and were very good at their work. Very happy we now have a new working boiler.
The only downside was communication from the office was poor. We had to ring them a few times to pin down a date for the work to be done.

I cannot possibly recommend this…

I cannot possibly recommend this company. Everything in my dealings with them has been an absolute disaster.

A surveyor attended, promised the world in terms of what would be done at installation. Unfortunately , as the company never sent a contract (more fool me) when actual work began so did the problems.
Insulation - half the agreed work was done, poorly, with no offer to finish the work. (done poorly leaving insulation exposed to the elements) Again no warranty or paperwork, so no guarantee. I have since asked for remedial work, offering to send photos of the issues, but the company have not taken me up on this. The insulators also damaged property, leaving pink foam sealant on a matt (destroyed) and over the tiled flooring.

Then the boiler install, waited round all day, only to get a text from the installer that he would not be coming due to a puncture. Had asked him to keep me updated, took 5 hours to say rearrange. (I Had put children into childcare especially for this)

2nd attempt at an install, the engineer said the boiler would not fit and left. Numerous phone calls later, the surveyor arrived and remeasured confirming the boiler did fit. Again children had been put in childcare at my expense.
3rd attempt, queried items i had been promised,as the engineer was not fitting them,it was denied this work had been agreed, i was called a liar by a manager (Gordon) who proceeded to demand immediate payment for the job before they would commence work. With substandard work having already been done, and half the work i was promised would be done, i refused this, as did not think the boiler would be fit for purpose based on what the surveyor had told me and what had been agreed

Then an email from Bethany Norton (operations director) dismissive, unhelpful and inaccurate. After 2 weeks of chasing her, refusing to speak to me, discover it's because i had been asking for a reduction based on the failed installs where i had booked children into childcare. Why this could not have been explained earlier i do not know. Again immediate payment was demanded the day before any work could commence. I asked why this had changed, as previously i had been called on the afternoo of the installations, it took 2 weeks to get a reply. I offered to pay when the engineer arrived, but this offer was not taken up.

Bethany did not follow the company complaints procedure, which is around updates as to what is happening etc. This only added to the frustration i was feeling.

I received no apology in regard to the failed installs, and the additional expense this was causing, or no apology over the amount of chasing i was doing and had to do each time.

All in all i have found this company dismissive, untrustworthy and hostile towards me , with absolutely no focus on accountability or customer service. There are alternatives, go with them.

In response.
1) I went off your recommendations. You would have been able to install a like for like boiler under the scheme. You even costed it for me, but recommended the one we were going for.

2)the cost was for the failed installs when you didn't arrive or said the work couldn't be done, hence the request for 2 as opposed to 3 charges. Good luck fitting a boiler with an 18 month and 3 1/2 year old present. Agaim at no. Point did you offer any apology for this.

3) I did offer, in writing to bethany to pay the full amount when and if you're engineer did arrive due to previous no shows and my concerns around the poor workmanship I had experienced.

4)the director simply did not keep me updated in any way as to what was happening. Instead refused to answer emails or take phone calls.

5) I was given one option. Pay before we will come. That is not various.

6) the delay.... Would have been interesting if she had contacted me. Again, nothing with regards to fixing the poor insulation work done or remedying it in any way.

The boiler was chosen on the recommendation of your surveyor, and it was his recommendation that the cold water boost be fitted, which would be included in the price. This was to account for your recommendation of boiler, as you recommended switching from the current hi flow system.

We do not have low water pressure that needs remedying. I do not know where you have got this from.

I do believe my outstanding complaint, which has around 12 points is yet to be addressed, which includes asking for you to fix what you have originally done, you did half the agreed work. Yet you accuse me of not providing the full picture. Elaborate.

This all stems from your deliberately misleading surveyor, and an inability to actually acknowledge or apologise for failing to attend appointments.
Despire a promise of hearing a resolution to my complaint by the end of the week, nothing has been heard. You aren't providing a full picture.

As with most funding schemes, the intricacies involved can cause some confusion but please do be assured we are a company that endeavour to give a high-quality experience to all our customers.

Naturally, every home is structured differently, and the scheme allows heating companies to provide workable solutions within a limited remit. As it turns out, there is a mains water pressure issue (which can only be resolved by your water board). This resulted in us not being able to install a ‘like-for-like’ boiler under the government-funded scheme.

We never request for children not to be present in the property when we are carrying out work (as all engineers are fully health and safety/covid trained). Your independent decision to put your children into childcare was, unfortunately, at your own expense.

You also informed our customer services team that you were not prepared to pay the full contribution for your new boiler as you wanted to claim childcare expenses from us. This is the reason we asked for your contribution payment pre-install rather than after the work had been carried out.

The delay in updating you regarding your complaint was due to our Directors investigating your case which involved liaising with surveyors, our compliance and bookings teams, customer services and engineers to get a clear understanding of what occurred and the reason why. In discovering details about your responses and charges, it was concluded that your complaint and review hadn’t provided us with the full picture.

Our Operations Director, Bethany has put forward various options for you to consider to find a win-win resolution.

However, I'm sorry your experience has been frustrating, and your expectations were not met. If there is any way we can assist you further, please do contact our office on 0330 124 4423.

Scammers !!!

Rang them about their free boiler scheme.was told by Bethany they could replace the back boiler.free if we agreed to have underfloor insulation.Surveyer arrived.looked around and then told us they will only do a combi boiler.at a cost of £1000 .scammers.dont trust them !!

I'm sorry your experience has been frustrating and that your expectations were not met. Many of our customers apply for funding to replace their existing combi boiler with a new modern efficient boiler. However, there is a conversion charge when converting a back boiler to a combi system and I apologise this wasn't made clear to you. The extra charge for converting is purely to cover parts and labour costs that the government do not fund.

As the boiler funding scheme offers full or partial funding for any households that apply, I am confident in expressing that Simple Heating strive for fairness and honesty as much as we can.

I had my boiler replaced and it wasn't the easiest job - awkward location, messy wiring etc. They redid everything on their own initiative and left everything in a much neater state, than before they had arrived

We had two sets of lads one to do the…

We had two sets of lads one to do the under floor insulation & one to do the new boiler. The under floor insulation was done on the date we were told by Johno & Gaz, they turned up on time with no fuss, I did not think they would get under the floor but they did. It did not take them to long, They were a good team spot on with the work & left the site clean, top marks.
The second lads turned up to do the boiler, Ashley & Tom, who I could not pick any fault & were very professional, they were good at their trade and again I could not pick any faults with what they did, First class workmanship and much appreciated. The whole experience was one that was good from administration to shop floor. Thank You for all your efforts.
