I contacted the company when my floor lamp failed after 4 years. To my delight I was told that the lamp was still under guarantee and would be repaired at no cost to me. This included the collection of my lamp from my home address. But the main reason for the 5 star review was the sheer delight I felt at receiving treatment which was both incredibly polite and helpful from the Serious light team - the sort of customer focus that I have not seen in years!

I can recommend 100%. I purchased a Roam table light after much deliberation due to price but I really wish I had purchased sooner it makes seeing to read so much clearer with no eye strain. Also customer service is exemplary I had a problem with delivery, not the company’s fault, and Helen kept me updated and sorted the problem.

The prompt response to my original phone call and being in contact with a named person (Helen) who took a personal interest in making sure my lamp was repaired quickly and I was happy with the service.

I had an issue with identifying the charging plug and lead for my Roamer lights. Promptly received a helpful email showing photograph so I was able to identify. Phone call this morning to make sure everything ok. That’s what I call customer service. All the lights, and I have many, are excellent.

Having had a problem with my order and initially given a less than impressive response when I queried it, I was rung out of the blue with an imaginative and welcome solution. Really impressed that Serious Brands took the time to try to resolve the problem - thank you.

Excellent customer service and product.
I have had a serious Reader table light for over 20 years, with one repair, with perfect results. This lamp became unreliable for dimming so after discussion with the company I ordered a new one with a lighter base. That didn’t work for me. I decided to have my existing one repaired. The delivery and collections all worked like clockwork
The repaired lamp looked like new. The LED light was too bright for me and they sent me a warm LED light, which is perfect
Each person I spoke to was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
The company achieves a very high standard.

The light is excellent for my wife who has reduced vision. Your service to replace a bulb was exemplary especially as it was so near to Xmas. Thanks to Helen well done. Keith

From Hilary Prescott: I bought the HD Essential floor lamp for my husband for Christmas. To say he was thrilled with it is an understatement!
It is his daily habit to sit in his special chair in the corner of the dining room after breakfast, to read his newspaper with Bertie the cat on his lap, and all I am hearing now is how well he can see to read “this light is good - SO good!” (We are in our seventies, as you can probably picture….)
I chose the lightweight base in case we wanted to move the lamp around but it is plenty heavy enough and extremely stable. The lamp looks neat and inconspicuous in its corner.
Ordering was simple; delivery fast; and the packaging was strong and protective - Bertie could hardly wait to jump into the box on Christmas Day!

I bought this light as a Christmas present for my husband and he is absolutely thrilled with it! He is convalescing from a recent operation and the light is helping him enormously with his crossword puzzles, and in fact all of his reading which would otherwise have made his eyes tired. It fits perfectly in the small amount of space available between the settee and his fish tank, and the cable is plenty long enough to reach the available socket. The light is bright and easily adjustable in terms of beam, angle and brightness. In fact, it's all round perfect and I would certainly recommend this light for anyone who reads or crafts; it's a game changer!

My experience with Customer Services via Jordan Segal could not have been better. It is very refreshing to encounter a company who really cares about their customers' experience and expectations. Jordan went out of his way to respond immediately to all of my queries and couldn't have been more helpful. Five star service!

I'm a huge fan of the Serious Readers lights (and now I am a huge fan of their customer service too). Having bought a light for my husband for Christmas I suddenly realised that it was likely to turn up in a branded box (on a day when I was out) and give the game away. Only 10 minutes after my frantic email to the company I had a telephone call that started to calm me down! Helen Fearnley took control of the situation and made sure that the delivery company redirected my parcel to a friend's house. Along the way she kept me fully informed at every step. I am truly grateful that the Christmas surprise remains just that, thanks to Helen's above and beyond customer service!

I would like to thank Serious Lights and especially Helen who organised collection and return of our lamp. The light was not only fixed but transformed into their modern lamp. This was all done in a matter of days too. Seriously good work. Thank you so much

Hi everyone,

We all work in an eye straining environment and come home from the comfort of loupes (or microscopes) and illumination *, to our poorly lit UK houses following some silly EU directives about maximum wattage of bulbs.

If you are like me, you probably despair at how suboptimal our homes' lighting is.
For me, this feeling is accentuated when I go and visit my parents who live in Warsaw, Poland. Their Polish light bulbs are still allowed to be as strong as they used to be decades ago and lit one's field of vision much better than here in the UK.
We accept a lot of poor quality in the UK, but it doesn't have to be this way.

For years I have been teased by the adverts from Serious Readers.
They promise reading with no strain and in high definition.
But... in our current climate - most sellers overpromise and underdeliver. 
Well, not Serious Readers.

They really are serious about lighting.
Whatever the research and innovation they put into their lamps, IT WORKS!
They should be called Dyson of Lightworks.

Now, I need to tell you something. I like good quality. Ideally German made. Sturdy and long lasting. I was brought up with the philosophy "you pay on the cheap; you pay twice".
I also like a good discount. It just makes me feel good about the saving I just made having spend money. (I am told only a woman can understand that 💁🏼‍♀️)

When faced with a hefty price, it is really hard to make this investment. A month ago I asked the question on " Abscessed about Books" - if anyone was familiar with these lights.
One of my colleagues, Krupesh, helped me by giving his feedback on using his lamp.

And so after probably 3+ years of eyeing up these lamps, I took the plunge.
The Scrooge in me, got a £100 floor lamp from Amazon and the other one from Serious Readers for comparison.
Suffice to say, I am sending the Amazon one back and I just purchased another floor one from Serious Readers.

PRO TIP:
If you Google them + accept cookies, FB will start flooding you with their adverts and within you can find very appealing discounts.
I saved in the region of £450 for 2 separate purchases.
Of course, one can say, that it is akin to Black Friday - inflating the price in the first place,  so it can then be reduced. It may be so, but I will give you an example: I paid £175 for the brass edition floor lamp. ( with the discount)

So, if you are interested, don't get disheartened by their original price. Look for the adverts and pick a good discount (they vary and some can be really, really good).
Ok, some of you, like my husband,  can react: "you paid how much?!?!" 😲,  but if you try them, you will understand that when discounted, these are great value.

The lamp I received was brilliantly packaged - and all that the company claims for it. I pursued my purchase based on friends' experiences so feel extra confident in recommending the company and their products to anyone who wants a really super light for reading and crafting. Friendly, helpful and efficient response to a difficulty....Helen was willing to be available on the phone to give assistance.

My family have several of their lights but I especially love my HD floor lamp. Unfortunately it stopped working so after a quick phone call I was sent a brand new cardboard box to send it back, it was collected and repaired and sent back to me all within two weeks because I chose the delivery day Can't fault them.

Superb customer service! I have owned 2 floor lamps for 20 years, giving me essential daily usage. However, I had to ask for help when I couldn't get a replacement bulb for one of them. This required Customer Services sending me a special box for packing, collection and return for repair with upgrade. All this was achieved in less than a week - and it is now back with me better than ever - wow!

I already have 5 serious reader lights, and with failing eyesight, they are my most indispensable items!
I recently contacted their customer services department to ask if they could send out a light to my twin before Christmas in time for our 70 th birthday, as the lights were not due in until January.
They delivered it to her within 5 days of my ordering, so she was really pleased and delighted, and I was pleased because she didn’t pinch one of mine!!
Seriously, such a great company providing exemplary service.

Customer service seems very good. We now have 3 floor lights and a bedroom reading light. My wife had a floor reading light for years and following a recent moving of furniture I realised that I needed one too. I have a neighbour who is disabled and has to spend hours in her arm chair. She reads, does crosswords and uses her iPad all the time. Her floor standing light was poor and I took her my wife's light for her to try. Before very long she asked me to order one for her. Now every time I visit she says how wonderful her light is.

Superb customer service. My floor light stopped working so I replaced the bulb. When this did not work I contacted the company and the cost of the light engine was immediately refunded and a new transformer sent. When this did not fix the problem collection and repair was arranged - all at no cost as I was still within the five year guarantee. I now have a repaired light which I find a great help with reading. The Customer services should be a role model to other organizations.
