Great bit of kit! Looks good, works well, delivered on time and battery option has enabled me to use the light away from the restrictions of a plug; love the remote control - boys toy maybe but really convenient to use. More importantly, the light has enabled me to return to choosing books in my local Library from all the shelves not just those containing 'Big Print'!

I recently sent an old floor light unit back to have an LED upgrade. The staff I spoke to were helpful, polite and went out their way to meet a deadline for the light’s return. The process could not have been easier and the light from the new LED lamp unit is outstanding. I cannot fault Serious Reader’s customer service and I would strongly recommend the company to others without any hesitation.

The delivery was within 24 hours of placing my order, and there was nothing for me to do to start using my light.
The instructions for use were clear and easy to follow, and the perfect light has enabled me to read and complete crosswords easily.

I inherited a Serious Reader from my parents who had used it since their purchase in 2013. Sadly a few weeks ago it stopped working. From my first contact with Helen in Customer Services I could not have been more impressed with the process which has culminated in my now having an as-new fully functioning lamp. A new bulb didn’t fix the problem so a repair was suggested. A custom designed box was delivered for me to package my lamp; it was then collected, repaired and delivered back to me the next week. My parents paid what they thought was a lot of money for the lamp but it was an absolute godsend for them with failing eyesight and is now going to be used by me for many more years to come - definitely worth every penny.
I would highly recommend both the product and the after care from Serious Readers.

Truly exceptional and dazzling customer service.

My lamp stamp broke over four years into a five year warranty, Sensible Readers arranged a courier to collect it without question in order to get it repaired. The courier arrived only a couple of days later and delivered the packaging, the collected it a couple of days later and then returned the repaired lamp after only a further few days with a year’s top up to the warranty.

Serious Readers should be really proud of their company and the service they provide to their customers. It is truly refreshing and I hope their business goes from strength to strength. They richly deserve it.

Purchased 2 lights. Both fine but wife unable to cope with floor standing unit brightness. Return process easy and very efficient and 30 day return policy is generous and fair.Customer service very pleasant and helpful. The purchase cost was returned effectively within 48 hours. Even before the light would have been received back. This is absolutely excellent. The retained desktop mobile lamp is smart and effective. This company deserves a full 5 stars.

We bought our light 15 years ago, and it has been incredible. We love it. Recently it started flickering, and on closer inspection it became clear it was not just a case of changing the bulb. I reached out to the Serious Readers customer service (Helen), and she arranged for collection and repair. It was a completely seamless and hassle free experience, and a week later my light was back, illuminating my favourite spot by my armchair next to the wood burner.
Every detail of the service was excellent, right down to the fantastic box they sent especially designed for my lamp to travel safely in. I have never experienced customer service like it, and not a bot in sight: bliss!
I love that the products are built to last - they're not cheap, but how many cheaper ones would I have got through in the same time period? And every component is replaceable - no built-in obsolescence to be seen - fantastic!

I wanted to share some feedback, and also a marketing suggestion.
I currently own several Serious Lights products — two floor-standing reader lights (in my snug and main sitting room) and a Romeo light on a side table for guests. The quality and clarity of light are consistently excellent.
Recently, I ordered a white Romeo light for my dressing table — and I am genuinely delighted with it.
The illumination is precise, bright, and extremely flattering without glare. It is ideal for detailed tasks such as inserting contact lenses, grooming, and applying makeup. In fact, it performs better than many lights specifically marketed for beauty use.
This leads me to a strategic suggestion:
I believe Serious Lights could actively market the Romeo (particularly in white) as a premium dressing table or grooming light. There is a significant market of women who struggle with poor lighting for makeup and close-detail tasks. Most “beauty” lights focus on aesthetics rather than quality of illumination. The Romeo delivers true clarity and function.
Positioning it as:
A precision grooming light
A dressing table essential
A high-performance alternative to standard vanity lighting
…could open an additional customer segment beyond readers.
It is not just a reading lamp — it is a task-performance light.

We were very pleased with a floor lamp we bought from Serious Readers in 2008, and used them again for an additional lamp in 2019.

The halogen bulb on the older lamp which has been working without any issue all these years had to be replaced with an LED bulb recently, and we had the same high standard of service again, including the prompt resolution of an issue with the courier -a special mention to the technical team.

So pleased to be able to continue using the lamp, and to know that Serious Readers still provides a quality service. Thank you.

Excellent advice and service. Delivery great. Packaging made it a joy to unbox. Most importantly the HD Pro Floor Lamp is a brilliant product. Not cheap but worth every penny. We bought and are using two.

I had a problem with my lamp and thought it was the bulb so bought a new bulb which did not sort the problem. I contacted Serious Readers and all was sorted easily and without hassle. It was great to deal with a company with easy to speak to staff and who helped to sort my light problems.

This is my second purchase from serious readers their lights are a brilliant assistant to those whose eyes are submitting to age. They're well made, they look great, yes they aren't cheap but you don't get quality on the cheap, l only have one set of eyes they deserve the best serious readers are the best

I telephoned when my floor serious light bulb stopped functioning. We have 4 lights from serious readers and they are all pretty old but I have never had a bulb go! I rang up and was immediately connected. The type of bulb is written on the underneath support of the light, and once I had turned it over to find that, the correct bulb was ordered. I decided to get some more bulbs in case my desk lights eventually need a new bulb. They are easy to replace too. These lamps have served our family well for a very long time and we are very attached to them! Excellent delivery service and the floor light was returned to good health.

I've just received my Roam light and am very impressed by its style and appearance, It looks sleek and modern and, although it's lightweight, it is very stable as most of the weight is in the base. The neck is flexible, bending both horizontally and vertically. I'm hoping it will prove to be a very versatile reading light.

Fantastic products, makes, sewing, reading and knitting so much easier

It is so refreshing to deal with a British company that produces quality goods backed up by excellent customer service. I bought two of Serious Readers' lamps 5 years ago. I do a lot of close crafting work and having high quality consistent lighting is so important to me. I needed some help with replacing bulbs for the lamps and thought it might be tricky due to the lamps being 5 years old. Not a problem for Serious Readers. I rang their help line late one afternoon earlier this week to then receive a call back the following day. It was great to have a discussion with someone who was not reading off a script, whose knowledge of the products was extensive, who knew exactly what I needed and parts are now in the post. I expect my lights to be up and running no later than next Monday. Very happy bunny. I wish other companies could see the value of such great personal service.

My Serious Reader floor lights were easy to order and arrived in a couple of days, beautifully packed and ready to use. We have one by the piano for sight- reading and one by the bed. Perfect on every way.

We found this light company very efficient. We bought 2 reading standard lamps for our chairs and wished we had found them a long time ago. The head is very movable and you can shine it just where you want it. We were so delighted with them that we have now bought a bedside lamp which helps a lot. The way the lights were packed and the instructions to get them standing were excellent and so easy to follow.
