AVOID SECRET SPA LIKE THE PLAGUE - HORRENDOUS, LOW QUALITY AND UNRELIABLE COMPANY. FRAUDULENT PRACTICES. Charged me an extra £200 (!!!) while threatening to cancel my appointment an hour before it was supposed to occur if I didn’t immediate comply, after learning that my hair and makeup was for my civil ceremony even though I made it clear I was NOT interested in a bridal look and this was NOT a wedding event with people invited. My husband and I are having a separate wedding day, as plenty of people do, while for the civil bit we were just planning to go ourselves with no guests invited to sign the legal documents. We still wanted to dress up a bit though so I booked for normal makeup and hair, which is all I wanted. Upon learning it was for my civil the company threatened to cancel my appointment, an hour before my civil, unless I upgraded to their bridal package when I very much was NOT a bride and DID NOT WANT a bridal look. Absolutely disgusted and outraged. They have lost a lifetime customer that over time would have generated them a lot more than their £200 extortion. Girls, stay away from this rubbish company and go elsewhere. Complete rip-off and an embarrassment of a business that left me distraught with a cancellation threat on a busy morning.
UPDATE: A completely useless, public-facing update was posted below my review earlier by the company, which has left me feeling outraged and has been written evidently just to save face with the public / anyone who reads this review. The ONLY appropriate action for any ethical company to have taken in response to my review would be to immediately refund me the £200 extortion money. I am willing to remove this review if the company refunds me my money - particularly in light of the fact that the MUA naturally did NOT prepare ahead, nor was there enough time after their unprofessional behaviour for even a regular glam makeup session let alone a bridal one - because I believe they should be given the opportunity to set things right. If the company does NOT take the action I propose above; then they should know that it is absolutely my intention to take them to court over this. I have a transcript of the phonecall as well as screenshots and will be discussing my options with a family lawyer. Outraged and appalled that the response from the company did not include an immediate refund. Appalling beyond words.

I completely understand how frustrating and upsetting it must have been to receive that message close to such an important moment. That’s absolutely not the kind of experience we want any of our clients to have.
We have a dedicated Bridal Hair & Make-Up service for all wedding day appointments, including civil ceremonies, as these bookings typically require longer timing, long-wear products, and additional preparation. However, we completely accept that the way this was communicated to you and especially the timing - caused unnecessary stress. For that, we are genuinely sorry.
We’re already reviewing internally how we handle wedding-related bookings with more care, so that this doesn’t happen to another client in future.

Lovely natural look - as requested
Charlotte E did an amazing job on my make up for my son’s wedding. She gave me the natural look I was looking for and listened to exactly what I wanted. I had lots of compliments which was lovely.
She was very friendly, very professional and gave me lots of advice for doing my make up for the future.
There were some issues with the trains that morning but I was contacted by Secret Spa and continually kept up to date on what was happening, even offering a different therapist if necessary - fortunately it wasn’t!!
I would highly recommend Charlotte and will request her should I need my make up doing for another special occasion.

Extremely thorough in the tan so it was excellent in terms of the finished product. However the therapist was extremely brusque in her manner and I didn’t feel at all at ease.

I booked a spray tan for yesterday morning. Secret Spa rang me to say Amanda wouldn't make the appointment as her car had broken down. They asked if she could come today. They rearranged the booking for 3.30pm today. I have recieved a message from Amanda asking if she can arrive at 4.30 instead. I rang Secret spa and asked if they could cancel the booking and give me a refund as this has been changed twice and neither times by myself. I'm getting married in 2 days and I'm now quite stressed for the rearranging by secret spa and would rather not have a spray tan. They refused to give me a refund. I had to become quite blunt on the phone and say I'm sure it's not company policy to allow customers to pay for a booking that isn't fulfilled and to change the booking twice. Neither of which are my fault. She said she will speak to some people in the office and send me an email with the result. I emailed them myself in this time repeating what I said on the phone. I did not mind paying more than a usual salon for what I thought would be a trustworthy and professional experience. Kim contacted me cancelling the booking, giving me a full refund and 20% of the value of the booking as credit for a future booking.

Unfortunately, Amanda experienced an unexpected car breakdown, which led to the changes to your booking. Our team initially believed she would still be able to make the appointment, which is why your refund wasn’t processed immediately. As soon as it became clear that she wouldn’t be able to attend, we cancelled the booking in full, issued your refund, and applied a 20% goodwill credit to your account.
While we always aim to provide a seamless and reliable service, we regret that we fell short for you on this occasion. We hope we can restore your confidence in Secret Spa in the future.
