Marco from Salkantay Trekking was an exceptional tour guide. He went above and beyond our expectations helping as someone in the group got elevation sickness. He did everything that he could to help with his expertise and make the individual feel more comfortable. The icing on the cake was when he took us to the hot tub expo afterwards. I would suggest for anyone to ask for Marco when using Salkantay tours, he’s the best.
Marcos knowledge and expertise pertaining to the tour as well as added information was top tier. He communicated everything well in English, kept everything entertaining, he kept the tour exciting and even cracked many jokes along the way. He’s overall a great guy and exceptional tour guide.

Erik was a great guide. He was quieter compared to other tour guides, but I didn’t mind that. He was very informative. I just didn’t like the hotel in Aguas Calientes as much. We should have been given the option for a room with a window, instead we were put into a room without any air ventilation, especially for Premium. I would be happy to pay more for a window if I had known this would be the case. Everything else during the trek was amazing. The food, the porters, the chef, the guide, the accommodations, and the drivers were great and I will recommend this company to everyone. It was very organized, especially with our luggage being transported to our hotel at the end of the trek. I suggest that we shouldn’t have to pack our duffel bag belongings into plastic bags at the end of the trek. Maybe a deposit for the duffel bags until we return them to Cusco would be a better option, especially for those who stay in Cusco for a little longer.

The Salkantay Trek was challenging yet deeply rewarding. The five-day journey was exceptionally well organized, and each evening, our guide Erik would prepare us for the next day’s adventure. He was a fantastic guide, sharing stories about the Incas and offering insights into each place we visited.

The accommodations were comfortable, true to the photos, and often featured stunning views. We were served three varied and nutritious meals each day, with a delicious selection of Peruvian dishes, thanks to our chef Johan and Victor Raul.

One area for improvement would be allowing a bit more time at each accommodation, as our stays often felt too brief to fully relax and take in the surroundings. From an architect’s perspective, I’d also recommend improving ventilation in the Jungle Domes, where the small windows provided limited airflow; likewise, adding windows to the restrooms near the cafeteria would improve comfort. The dome-shaped cafeteria itself amplified sound considerably, making it difficult to enjoy extended time there due to noise from nearby tables.

Finally, it would be helpful to ensure that only those physically prepared for the trek participate, as we noticed some groups relying on horses for steeper sections, which placed unnecessary strain on the animals.

Such an amazing experience. They took the stress out of the trip by planning nearly every aspect of the trip. Our guide Carlos Navarro was exceptional. He has a piece of my heart for making this trip so magical. We had a second guide Rueben who was also amazing. It is hard to explain the amount of love and attention they give the group. In the months prior to the trip, Mariela answered endless questions with love and patience. While this hike is so amazing in every way, it is the guides and staff that will leave the biggest impression. So many tiny acts of service added up to an amazing adventure from hot tea served at 4:30 AM to your door, warm water bottles they called baby llamas to keep you warm on the first night, playing the flute to get you over the hump of the hardest parts of the trail. Christian the cook went out of his way to provide a tasty gluten free meal option for me and Fernando kept our gear traveling along the way on horses safe and sound and dry. All so special Thank you Salkantay Trekking.

If you are into luxury hiking, you came to the right place! The service from the Crew was exceptionel. From our main guide Erik who had everything under control and new everything, to the chef Johan and his helper Victor Raul who served os all the best peruvian food and the horseman Nicolas who made sure our bags got safely transportet, everything about the trip was taken Care off, so we just enjoyed the walk and the views!!

Salkantay Trekking was the most amazingly organized company we have ever used. All the staff was incredible from the office staff, to the porters, to the chef, and most importantly, to the guide. The equipment was top quality so we were extremely comfortable. The chef made delicious meals with many dishes for every meal. We could never eat all the food! Our guide was really open and friendly and shared his extensive knowledge of the history and nature in a helpful, natural way. He was really good with people and it was a pleasure to hike with him for 7 days.

I am thrilled and grateful to have finally experienced the Salkantay trek and Machu Picchu and am so glad my daughter and I did so with Salkantay Treffking. The company is well established and offers wonderful guides and accommodations. I cannot say enough about Wilo, our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, culture, geography, and every plant and animal in the region. I so appreciate his kindness and encouragement along the way! He went above and beyond. Also a huge shout out to Moises, our wonderful, young chef who prepared bountiful and delicious meals for us during our challenging trek. An incredible adventure!

We went from the mountains to the glaciers, rode horses to the Salkantay pass, then through rocky valleys hiking through the hail, and then into the jungle where we ended up at Machu Picchu, 40+ miles from our start

Honestly could not fault the trek at all, I had the best time with the best team - our guide Erik was absolutely amazing, I could not have asked for a kinder and more encouraging person to guide us through the mountains, the food was amazing, the accommodation was so unique. Feeling very sentimental about the whole trip right now!

This once in a lifetime trip was both challenging and rewarding in equal measure - made only possible by the impeccable and amazing team. Our guide Erick was absolutely amazing and not enough praise can be given.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience! My mom and I did the five-day Salkantay trek and absolutely loved it. Salkantay Trekking took care of everything for us, and we did not have to worry about anything. The campsites and the food wildly exceeded our expectations, as did our guide Wilo! He helped us along the hikes and did a wonderful job explaining the history, culture, plants, animals, etc. so that we could appreciate the trip even more. While we trained for the hiking and spent five days acclimating in Cusco, we still found the hiking challenging (especially after our legs were tired from the days before). So, we appreciated that for the two most intense uphill segments of the hike (the mornings of day two and day four), there was a horse or a van available for alternative transportation. Overall I 1,000% recommend doing the Salkantay Trek with Salkantay Trekking and am already wishing that I will have the opportunity to do it again at some point in my life!

This was a lifetime experience and I couldn’t have had a better experience than with Salkantay Trek! Erik was a fantastic tour guide and mentor throughout the travels. Oscar, Dennis, Piter all were so professional and helpful. From the great service to phenomenal cuisines to exceptional camp sites, this is the group to go with.

My first ever trekking experience, and it was wonderful! Our guide Erik made sure we understood all instructions and explained everything, from different plants along the way, to Inca history, to various recommendations as a local from Cusco. Salkantay trekking seems to be a great company to choose for your trekking experience, they’re very thorough, and the food quality blew my mind, I’ll def miss it! Thank you to chef Denis and Oscar! Also, our things were always carefully handled by our horse man Peter, that way we were able to travel light and still have our things at night time. So thankful, so blessed, and looking forward to my next trekking experience with Salkantay!

We did the Salkantay 5 day trek with Wilo and it was the best experience of my life! I recommend that everyone gets Wilo as their tour guide, he is so knowledgeable and fun! He is truly doing a job that he loves and you can see it through his actions and words. We are already planning our trip back because it was such a dream!
