His positive energy and attentiveness ensured our group felt safe, prepared, and motivated, even when the trek got tough.The entire local crew, including the porters and chef, provided top-notch service with fresh, delicious meals and well-organized campsites. Reaching Machu Picchu on foot after five days of trekking was a surreal, life-changing experience. We highly recommend this tour operator to anyone visiting Peru—be sure to ask for Zucemo!

We had an amazing experience with Salkantay Trekking! The trek was one of the most challenging things we’ve ever done, but it was absolutely worth it. Everything was so well organized from beginning to end.

The food honestly exceeded all of our expectations. We still can’t believe they were able to prepare such delicious, varied, and beautifully presented meals in such remote places. The domes were beautiful, comfortable, spotless, and had such unique designs.

Our guides, Juan Carlos and Mendel, made this trip unforgettable. Juan Carlos was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and always took the time to encourage everyone and make sure each person was doing well. Mendel kept everyone’s spirits up with his great sense of humor and was always there to help whenever someone needed a little extra support.

We also want to thank the chefs, horsemen, and drivers. Their hard work often goes unnoticed, but they were a huge part of what made this experience so special. Despite the long days and difficult conditions, everyone was always kind, smiling, and genuinely cared about the group.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend Salkantay Trekking to anyone. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The Salkantay trek was an incredible experience, I celebrated my 50th & it will always be remembered fondly. Our guides Wilfredo & Saul were outstanding, professional, kind, and always attentive. Every route offered breathtaking scenery and interesting challenges, the accommodations was comfortable and added a touch of luxury & the food was delicious. It was a perfect blend of nature, culture, and care. I even had a beautiful birthday cake made for me! A 5 star company which I highly recommend!

I highly recommend this company. I booked 3 packages from them for my 10 days trip: Sacred Valley, Salkantay 6 days trek and Palcoyo Mountain. All the trips run very smoothly and exceded my expectations. The logistics are top notch and the guides are very knowledgeable.
Zucemo, the guide from the Salkantay trek is the best of the best. He is a natural leader and very professional. Kept the group very engaged in all the walks sharing historical information. I've learned a lot from him!

This experience was made infinitely better with our guía Niko. And our chefs Denis y David. Niko always made sure to stop and tell us about history, flora, and fauna. It would not have been half as good an experience without Niko.

Also, the food prepared at each of the campsites is by far some of the best in the world.

Our guide Nicco set a negative tone from the very first orientation, warning us the trek was "very hard" and that he would decide after Day 1 who could continue. This discouraging attitude persisted throughout.

Day 1: Despite his repeated warnings that we'd miss lunch or arrive too late for Humantay Lake, our group reached every checkpoint on time.

Day 2: After riding a horse up to Salkantay Pass (due to mild altitude sickness), I hiked the 8+ hour descent on foot. Nicco constantly harassed me — telling me I'd make the group eat cold lunch, that I'd reach camp "at midnight," and even telling me not to "walk like a gorilla." He also recruited my wife to pressure me on his behalf when he wasn't nearby. Despite all this, I arrived at lunch on time and reached camp only 15 minutes after the last group member. I never actually delayed the group.

Days 3–4: The constant negativity broke my confidence. I opted for transport to the next campsites, missing hikes I now believe I could have completed — especially the rainforest trek on Day 3.

The contrast: On Day 4, I joined another group from the same company for ziplining. Their guide was supportive, personable, and never belittled anyone. Members of that group said they completed difficult hikes because of their guide's encouragement. It made clear how much Nicco's approach cost me.

Bottom line: The trek logistics, campsites, and support staff were fine. But a guide's job is to help people succeed, not intimidate them into giving up. I was made to feel weak and incapable, and I missed experiences I'd paid for and trained for. I hold Nicco's guiding style directly responsible for those missed days. The company should ensure their guides encourage rather than discourage their clients.

You have to do this trip!!! It was one of the most incredible and special 5 days of my life. Marco, our guide, was AMAZING! He kept us safe, he was hilariously funny, he so passionate and knowledge about his ancestry and he just made the trip so perfect. We had an amazing group of people doing the hike too, for which I am forever grateful. These people are now truly special friends! You will not regret doing this, trust me!

The 4-day Salkantay Trek to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. Every single day brought breathtaking scenery — from snow-capped mountains and crystal-clear lakes to lush cloud forests and ancient Incan sites. The beauty of Peru is impossible to describe until you experience it yourself.

What made this trip even more special was my incredible guide, Angel. His knowledge of Incan history, culture, and the surrounding landscape brought every moment to life. You could feel their passion in every story and explanation along the trail, making the trek not just physically rewarding, but deeply meaningful.

The people i met along the way were equally amazing — warm, welcoming, encouraging, and full of positive energy. There was such a strong sense of camaraderie throughout the journey that strangers quickly felt like family.

And the food prepared by Jose was absolutely unbelievable for a remote mountain trek. Every meal was freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and honestly better than many restaurants. Waking up to hot coca tea and ending long hiking days with incredible dinners was something we looked forward to every day. Jose even made a birthday cake one evening 🤯
This trek challenged me physically, inspired me emotionally, and rewarded me with memories that will last forever. If you are considering the Salkantay Trek, do it. It is so much more than a hike — it is an adventure filled with history, culture, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable people.
