Easy way to rent a car. Picked it up in Reykjavík and delivered it in the airport in Keflavik. It was a nice car to drive, and we experienced so much more of Iceland than from a tour bus.

I enjoyed the fact that I could book online. The process was very simple to do and the rental company Blue, were very good at keeping abreast of via email.

The service is first-class but I didn't like the vehicle - not my first choice, hence the 'four-star' rating of this review.

We had just arrived into Reykjavik after searching online for a car it brought us to here

As we arrived we pulled up on electric scooters, we were met by a very abrupt Man, he came bursting out the door in a really rude tone telling my partner to move his scooter not to park it there. He didn’t park it there he wasn’t going to park it there he was simply looking in the window to check it was open, we know that he couldn’t park it there as the yellow box with lines through is the same as the U.K. as he was trying to tell the sales man this he kept cutting him off saying “move it park over there” using really abrupt hand gestures. Now usually we would have argued back and asked him not to speak to us like that but we had just arrived and didn’t want the hassle. So like we were going to any way, we parked them further along If he had given us the chance to explain that he would have known this also.

SO this was the first 2 people we actually spoke to and we thought oh wow is this how the locals are!

We went inside we explained we found a car online ready to hire as per the website said. In the most rudest way “we don’t have that car only the duster”

I said ok why is it saying online this car is available he said he only has 1 car left that day pointed outside to a duster with the worst attitude. So we said ok how much was it? He replied it was approx £470. We said ok we will discuss and allow him to serve other people. Not another word was said no customer service whatsoever.

So we stepped back and yes he has the same attitude with other visitors. Disgusting.

Another female appears asks can she help.

We say again this car is available online etc she replies with “well book it online then” I said ok is the car here? Or somewhere else we can go along to it” she said “yes it’s in Reykjavík”

Really rudely. Staring right at me, I said ok where about? She replied “In Reykjavik” rolling her eyes in the rudest way possible I couldn’t believe it, I was actually shocked.

She said wait I will check. So as she is doing this she said “so did you book it” I said well yes here it is. She said don’t do insurance it will be cheaper through us. I said ok is this the same company and it turns out blue car rental and this company have merged and are the same company. So she sorts the insurance for us gives us the duster which was one of several care not just the 1 car the previous man said the only had left. It turned out approx £130 cheaper.

Why is it cheaper within 5 minutes?! Why were we told only 1 car left and that’s was it!?

Now…. I appreciate that businesses get rude customers I deal with customers daily, hundreds a day but we were so polite and understanding. I run my own business AND I am a manager at an airline have been for 14 years, this was not a culture issue…. That’s excuse can’t be used. I deal with different cultures daily and have done for years this was just really bad attitudes! I know the difference between culture and being outright rude. It’s my job I have flown all over the world and honestly never been met with this from the get go….. I have flown to Iceland with work before and never been spoken to like that. I run my own business also if my staff spoke to anyone like that then there would be consequences.

I recommend daily hotels, places to eat car hire to our passengers traveling and this is not somewhere I will be recommending sadly. Maybe from the airport and back but not the Reykjavik office.

The car was great worked great, Really good on fuel very clean.

The staff at the airport were excellent very kind helpful easy to drop off on our way home. The staff in airport need to show the 2 staff in Reykjavík some customer service skills genuinely.

The rest of the trip was excellent too the locals were lovely helpful nothing like those staff.

If you don’t want to be there get another job as this is what it came across like they didn’t want to be there.

Good car. Easy to pick up

Once we found the office to collect the car, the process was very straightforward. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The car was great and the return was simple and quick.

Office is Walking distance from our accomodation. Professional and accomodating staff on pick up and drop off point. Easy and quick getting and handover of car. Excellent service.

I have rented cars at.reykjavikrentacarfor 10 years. Mostly I was satisfied. Two times the car was not in a good shape, but that was okay. Now blue is the managing company. The office is better and the service is quicker because of the bigger desk.
I recommend this company.

So easy, I was worried about not getting back in time due to the weather so sent over a quick email. A very quick reply to say take as long as I needed and stay safe! Would 100% recommend great car, safe and automatic was so much easier to deal with when driving on the opposite side to home.

No hidden fees, no high pressure upsells, no scrutiny, fair prices..they even stepped in to request a refund for a park I stopped at to view my road maps. ( I was fined $55 and I was refunded). I highly recommend!

Very reasonable on price, 5 🌟 professional staff, very helpful with your preference on choosing the car. I was able to upgrade my car in just few seconds.

Lovely car and friendly service. Rental office was confusing to find, but it was also night time and storming so that didn’t help. Only big fault was the car was given over with the toddler car seat NOT fixed into the chair. Only realised as when I tightened the straps and the chair rotated. Please make sure all car seats are isofixed in before leaving :)

Everything worked well. The car was what we had ordered. The personnel was nice and didn't even push too much for buying more insurance.

Very easy walk, straightforward pick up and drop off. 5 star.

Rental was very smooth for both pickup and drop off - even though we were a bit early both times, there were no problems or delays.
Staff were incredibly friendly and the vehicle was fit for purpose, the seat warmers in particular came in handy after a too-close visit to a waterfall!

I used them in the past and will continue to use if i visit iceland again.

Amazing service! Everything was so easy from getting to the rental to sorting all the payments.. and they even upgraded the car for us as well, parked right by the entrance so we didn’t have to go searching around in the dark. And drop off was super easy! Could not fault the whole hire as all!! Thank you for making our trip one to remember and having the upgrade meant a heated steering wheel… what a perk that was in -18!!!

Everything went smoothly with our car rental. It was economical and easy to pick up and even better a 4 am drop off with a two minute walk into the airport was so easy.

Renting with Reykjavík Rent a Car was easily the best car rental experience I’ve had. Picking up and dropping off the car was seamless, the car itself was great and even when I got stuck in a blizzard, they made rescue easy and fast. The wifi add on in the car was a personal game changer as someone who uses a lot of data and streams a lot of music especially on road trips. Reykjavik Rent a Car gave a wonderful experience, would definitely encourage others to rent a car versus join a tour bus.
