I’ve been renting cars through Rentalcars for years, all around the world, and have never had a single problem. The website is easy to navigate, and the rental details are clearly listed for each car, which makes it easy to compare offers. Most of the reservation can be freely canceled 48h before the rent. Morevoer, the insurance they offer is among the best on the market: it doesn't cost much and covers virtually all damages charged by the rental company.
I read a lot of negative reviews, and it seems to me that 99% of them refer to problems with the rental car companies themselves, which operate independently of Rentalcars and sometimes apply their own specific policies. Many dissatisfied users seem not to have understood how sites like this work, or the agreement they signed.

Hired a car from Record Go from Malaga airport. Paid for fully comprehensive insurance. When picking up car had to pay additional 309 euro. The scam is they remove spare tyre and instruct you to take out additional insurance to cover being towed because only they can repair spare tyre.
They then provide email to contact whilst you are on holiday to get this money back. I did this but instead of refunding money they cancelled my fully comprehensive insurance and then refused to reinstate it when they admitted they had made a mistake. This whole scam just ruins peoples holidays. After contacting their customer service they just ring off scammers

Probablemente de las peores experiencias de entrega de vehículo que he tenido.
Más de una hora y media de espera para entregar el vehículo a 5 personas (yo era el cuarto y no se llegó a realizar la entrega) con un personal inexperto.
Es suficiente con ver las opiniones en general de trustpilot de Enterprise -cosa que no hice antes de alquilar-; un 1.6 de 5.0. Eso es una empresa a la deriva.
La resolución final es que RentalCars (filiar de Booking) cancela la reserva sin reembolso alguno -así queda bien con Enterprise- y así evita opiniones negativas.
Sobre esta reserva tengo el cargo de fianza, video y fotos por lo que cancelar la reserva y no entregar el vehículo tiene poco recorrido.
Pero RentalCars (con esta valoración de TrustPilot) simplemente evita el problema con la cancelación por el operador sin reembolso alguno.

Als ik 0 sterren kon geven, gaf ik er 0. Vreselijk bedrijf. Adverteren met een bedrag van 120 euro voor 5 dagen. Uiteindelijk totale kosten bijna 700 euro voor 5 dagen. Bij de advertentie stond ongelimiteerde kilometers, na boeking krijg ik de voorwaarden: 50 km gratis per dag, daarna 0,69 cent per km. Je reinste oplichting. Zou nog een bedrag terugkrijgen binnen 7 dagen, maar klantenservice is totaal niet kundig en geen geld ontvangen. 3 verschillende medewerkers gesproken en nu moet ik eerst met een ander bedrijf bellen, die weer contact op moeten nemen met Rental Cars. Vreselijk!

This was one of the worst experiences I had in longtime in regards to rental cars. I made the booking via rentalcars.com, booked two cars as we where 10 people with second driver on each car. When we came to checkin I was told that two bookings are not allowed and one person can not pay for both cars, that the credit card holder, booking owner and main driver all need to be the same person. As we arrived late the online bookings could not be adjusted anymore and I had to make a new booking. On top of course all extras had to be paid and insurances where charged at the same price then the actual car rental cost on top if you wanted any coverage. The cars where in mediocre shape, one of the cars had a broken indicator bulb which we only noticed when on the way as it was not used, so we had to change ourselves. Later the engine oil warning lamps came up and we had to buy oil as the car was totally empty. The second car made a lot of noises from the front axis. To make the experience even worse, one of us forgot a small wallet in the front with two credit cards, within hours after dropping the cars early morning, someone alreaady missused and tried to take small amounts via contactless options, the bank noticed fast and blocked the car and we could order new cards, however that means an employee of the rental company must have found this when cleaning the car and instead of returning they started a fraud. Never again, experience cost us 250 Euro between double bookings and cash retrieval. I have now opened a case with rentalcars.com to get one of the bookings refunded as I was never able to start it. The response from the customer service Team was: they can not work on this due to privacy limitations only the main driver can request a claim, which does not make sense….the booking holder should be able to claim the booking, so I now need to ask for approval by driver to work on this.

Ik heb tijdens mijn vakantie in Fuengirola online een auto geboekt bij Rentalcars. Tijdens de reservering stond er op de website dat er zowel een debet- als creditcard gebruikt kon worden voor de betaling. De volgende dag zou ik de auto in de ochtend ophalen. Daar vroeg de medewerker van het verhuurbedrijf om een creditcard. Nou prima, die had ik op dat moment niet en dat heb ik aangegeven. Hierdoor kon de verhuur niet doorgaan, nou jammer maar helaas. Het verhuurbedrijf zou de verhuur annuleren en ik zou mijn geld (wat ik online heb betaald aan Rental cars) terugkrijgen. Uiteindelijk 3 weken later nog steeds niks gehoord van RentalCars. Toen heb ik besloten om ze een mail te sturen. Hun reactie; in de algemene voorwaarden stond dat je wel een creditcard moet kunnen tonen bij het verhuurbedrijf. Hierdoor krijg ik mijn geld niet terug, terwijl ik er niks voor heb gekregen. Belachelijke gang van zaken vind ik zelf. Nooit hier een auto huren want het zijn oplichters. Zelfs 1 ster is te veel voor deze mensen!!

Overcharged on return and no explanation. Despite having paid Rental cars, I was told my contact was with Hertz, ( car booked with Dollar who are in fact are Hertz), paper work I signed on car collection was in German so I was unable to check it. I was charged for ‘van accessories’ when I had a car, not a van and they seem unable to query it with the supplier now the car has been returned even though the payment was taken from my credit card after my return. Don’t touch this company.

À l'enlèvement au loueur Target rent à Bari on me refuse de me donner la voiture sous prétexte que ma CB du crédit agricole est une carte de débit et non de crédit alors que je viens de recevoir des remboursements de PayPal, Temu, Parkos à l'instant.
Obligé de refaire une location au nom de mon épouse mais trois fois plus chère, en fait qui a été annulée car mon épouse n'avait pas pris son permis donc 289 euros de frais déduits sur 675, le 8 septembre on m'avait promis un remboursement intégral de la première location qui m'a été confirmé à l'annulation du mardi matin, comme je ne reçois aucun mails et que leur adresse mail n'est pas bonne, je rappelle 3 jours après et on me confirme qu'il a été demandé mais ils ont plein de demandes (quand ils vous prennent de l'argent, mon épouse l'a reçu sous 3 jours?) il relance la demande d'annulation.
Autre précision le mardi matin on pouvait me louer une voiture avec une carte de débit mais à 1200 euros soit 6 fois plus chères hors assurance.
A vous de voir mais je vous conseille de fuir...

Rented a car with green motion. Payed a high fee and did not get it back after more than 35 days now. Rentalcars does not respond or helped me with my case. So if you wan t a carefree holiday don’t book with rentalcars.com

Location d’un véhicule via Alamo, la voiture ne nous a pas été livrée, ce qui nous a contraint de louer un véhicule en last minute auprès d’un concurrent. l’agence nous a attesté que rien ne serait débité de leur côté et que l’entièreté de la somme serait remboursée via rental cars. Le service client rental cars refuse le remboursement de la voiture, j’engage des procédures judiciaire pour résoudre ce préjudice : 545 euros débités et volés et une attente de plus de 2h en gare avec des enfants en bas âge.

Oplichters!! Scam !!! Ze vragen een verzekering af te sluiten inbegrepen in het bedrag. Blijkt dat de verzekering duurder is dan de huurprijs. Niet doen !!!

Via Rentalcars een auto van Maggiore gehuurd in Bari. Erg veel schade en na afloop wordt mij schade in de schoenen geschoven die ik claim bij de afgesloten verzekering bij Rentalcars. Maar inmiddels wacht ik 3 weken op afhandeling.

I booked for a car in Pisa, Italy for 386 euros for a week for a Peugeot 2008 automatic (good car).

When I want to pick it up the company tells me there's 280 to pay extra + 500 deposit. (total 780 extra).

I say I'm not okay.

They ask me to call the reservation call center to find a solution.

What I asked to their call center is simple :

Choice 1 : I want the car I paid for and reserved for the price I already paid.
Or :
Choice 2 : full refund.

(simple)

But they can't get me a full refund. Only half, if I want to cancel.

So they offered me two options :

A Fiat 500 (lol) for... 480 euros!
Or
This partial refund which is just stealing me.

This company is a SCAM, I will need to do a chargeback with my bank to get my money back. So annoying!

Total Scamers. Please never use this website !!!

Shocking company. Should be called rental cars.con
Paid in full for a booking. Rental company would not provide the car in spite of having an International Driving Permit and full UK Driving Licence. Requested a full refund and was refused. It’s nothing short of theft.

Bij aankomst op luchthaven Bologna bij verhuurkantoor kreeg ik geen vtg.,dit omwille van zogezegde niet aanvaardbare kredietkaart. Met dezelfde kaart overal al betaald,het is een business debet kaart van BNP Paribas. Na 2 uren nodeloos praten en argumenteren,waarbij ook nog eens dure telefoon naar Engeland,waar telefoon doorgeschakeld werd met computer en dus nodeloos wachten.
Uiteindelijk bijkomend 300 euro betaald voor verzekering en borg van 500 euro met die kaart,die niet werd aanvaard.
Was op 5 minuten geregeld.
Pure oplichterij van dit bedrijf, je kan beter een erkend bedrijf zoeken zoals Hertz of ecovia,iets duurder maar wel in orde.
Voor mij nooit meer Rentalcars.com

Zeer slechte ervaring – auto niet meegekregen ondanks reservering

Ik had via dit platform een auto gereserveerd en alles leek in orde. De dag voor het ophalen werkte de link voor online inchecken niet, op geen enkel apparaat. Ik heb daarom contact opgenomen met de klantenservice. Daar werd mij verzekerd dat dit geen probleem zou zijn, zolang ik mijn paspoort, rijbewijs en de betaalkaart waarmee ik had betaald kon tonen.

Tot mijn verbazing werd ik bij aankomst geweigerd omdat ik geen creditcard had. Mijn vriendin had wél een creditcard bij zich, ikzelf had een Revolut-kaart en contant geld, maar geen enkel alternatief werd geaccepteerd. Ook werd er totaal geen moeite gedaan om mee te denken of een oplossing te bieden.

Gevolg: we konden geen gebruik maken van de auto die we wél betaald hadden, en moesten noodgedwongen een dure taxi nemen om op tijd op een bruiloft te komen.

Slecht georganiseerd, misleidende informatie van de klantenservice en geen greintje flexibiliteit of klantenservice op locatie. Absoluut geen aanrader.

• De link voor online inchecken werkte niet, op geen enkel apparaat (telefoon en laptop).
• Geen alternatief aangeboden voor het falende online incheckproces.
• Klantenservice gaf verkeerde of onvolledige informatie.
• Mij werd telefonisch verzekerd dat het geen probleem zou zijn zonder online check-in, wat onjuist bleek.
• Auto werd geweigerd puur omdat ik geen creditcard had.
• Andere beschikbare betaalmiddelen (Revolut, contant geld, vriendin haar creditcard) werden niet geaccepteerd.
• Geen enkele oplossing of hulp aangeboden op locatie.
• Medewerkers dachten niet mee en waren niet flexibel.
• Star en klantonvriendelijk betalingsbeleid.
• Onduidelijke communicatie over verplichte creditcard bij reservering.
• Geen gebruik kunnen maken van de auto, ondanks volledige betaling.
• Geen coulance of compensatie aangeboden.
• Moesten dure taxi nemen als alternatief vervoer voor belangrijke gelegenheid (bruiloft).
• Plannen volledig in de war door nalatigheid van het bedrijf.
• Extra kosten en stress zonder enige vorm van verantwoordelijkheid van hun kant.
• Zeer onbetrouwbare en klantonvriendelijke ervaring

Never book with this agent, because insurance own risk is false. Upon arrival af Ibiza at the Avis desk it turned out that there was still 2400 OWN risk and 200 creditcard deposit. when I booked I ticked all the boxes for no OWN risked and no deposit. and paid insurance almost as much as the car rental price. assumed that rentalcover insurance would cover me. The lady from Avis said they have this all the time because this company is giving miss information Advise: book directly with Avis and insurance directly with them.
