ATTENTION POTENTIAL WYNDHAM TIMESHARE BUYERS – IF YOU ARE COERCED INTO BUYING A TIMESHARE, YOU CAN LEGALLY CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT, BUT THEY WON’T TELL YOU ABOUT THAT.

Our first experience with Wyndham was when we received a call offering us a discounted trip to Las Vegas if we were to attend one of their sales presentations. This presentation was MUCH longer than the promised 90-minutes; we spent over 3 hours there! Throughout the entire meeting, we were continually told about all the alleged benefits of Wyndham ownership; we could travel when and where we pleased, that this would be a real estate investment that we could rent out to pay for the maintenance fees, and that we could pass this on to our children for them to benefit from in the future.

When we asked for the night to sleep on our decision, we were told that we had to decide immediately or that the price would no longer be honored, so we reluctantly purchased. Nothing that we were told has turned out to be true! There is never availability at the places you want to go and there are so many fees just to travel, which is on top of mortgage payments and annual maintenance fees that are constantly on the rise. Plus, we are continually coerced into attending additional sales presentations where we are pressured into upgrades that are supposed to solve our issues. None of this is true! Had we been told at any of these meetings that we had a legal cancellation period, we would have taken advantage, but this was always kept from us. This company is terrible and unethical!

The Worldmark /Wyndham Club is a scam. For a long time, we bought into their stories of “the more points you own the better & more exclusive access you unlock”. We acquired a significant amount of debt this way. It took us some time to realize our access was never better, in fact it stayed the same. Over time the resorts quality & allure deteriorated a significant amount. Stains on carpet, dirty rooms, underwhelming customer service, etc. I don’t know where that $3800 yearly “MAINTENACE FEE” we pay goes to, but it sure does not go into maintaining the resorts!!! We can hardly ever travel anymore due to medical issues. When we could travel, we could never find any availability and were forced to book our vacations 12-13 months in advance. The two things that infuriated me the most was I was told we had a 30-day cancellation period if we changed our mind, but I recently found out that I only had 5 calendar days to cancel this contract and avoid all the unnecessary debt I have accrued. Additionally, they gave us a very high interest rate of 15.9% on our loan and were told we could refinance this loan through our bank. I have never been more embarrassed with the banks I spoke to because they informed me timeshares HAVE NO VALUE! We have been ripped off by Worldmark /Wyndham Club in the worst way as these fees INCREASE yearly & NEVER END!! I DO NOT recommend others to join their club or stay at their resorts for that matter.

I attended a presentation with Wyndham because I was offered free attraction tickets to events in Gatlinburg, TN. When I arrived at their presentation, I was paired with both a senior member of their sales staff and a trainee, both of whom were very pushy. They continuously told me that this was the type of purchase that would allow me to leave a legacy, have financial freedom, and that because I owned a travel business myself, I could rent this out and make a significant profit. I finally gave in because I believed it would benefit my business and was explicitly told MULTIPLE TIMES that this was not a timeshare. I have taken seven different trips within the United States and tried to use this for my hotel stays. There has not been a single time where that has been possible! When I called Wyndham for assistance, I was told that I would have to pay MORE money to book, even though I can see availability online through other travel sites! This company has lied to me from the beginning!

In Aug 2018, we were visiting one of the Wyndham properties in Nashville when we were approached & asked to attend an owner update meeting. We eventually gave in because we were promised that it would be brief. At the presentation, we were pressured and bullied into this purchase for hours! At one point, we were surrounded by members of the Wnydham staff, all of whom were pushing us to decide right away. We really felt that we had no choice! We soon learned that everything that they told us to entice us to make a purchase was untrue! These resorts are not exclusive, the RCI exchange is not 'included,' and the maintenance feed continue to rise every year. In 2020 I called Wyndham to take my ex-husband off the contrace. This should have been a simple, clerical transaction, yet they tricked me into an additional contrace that had over $25000 in debt! When I noticed the amount deducted from my charge card I was shocked! No matter how many times I have called they will not help me. They just keep telling me that my only option is to pay off the debt faster. What kind of company is this?

In 2007, we received a call from Wyndham offering us a gift card for attending a meeting at their office in Colorado Springs. While we were told over the phone that this would only take an hour of our time, we were forced to stay in that room for over 5 hours! During this meeting, we were led to believe that this was an investment that we would be making in our family’s future that would allow us to have an asset to pass on to our children, that we could rent if we were unable to travel due to our military commitments, or that could be sold at a profit if we were ever wanting to no longer be owners. When we returned home, we were excited about the idea of being able to travel as a family and utilize this purchase. We quickly learned that this was not as simple as we had been led to believe. The reservation system is not user friendly, the number of points that we were sold are useless to actually book anything, and any timeframe that we would want to use is never available! In the nearly 15 years that we have been “owners”, we have only been able to use this twice. Both times we were subjected to “owner meetings” where we were put through this same sales presentation. When we expressed our frustration with our experience, we were told that we need to purchase more points to alleviate the problems. This is not the case at all! Now we just owe more and more money on something that is impossible to use. This company is the worst!

My wife and I were visiting San Antonio, TX when we were approached by a Wyndham representative and asked if we wanted to attend a sales presentation about vacation opportunities. The gifts offered were very enticing, so we accepted. When we arrived at the resort, there was a presentation followed by a tour of the property. We were then seated with a saleswoman who started pressuring us into purchasing this package that was quite expensive. I told her that her offer, even at half the price, was more than we were going to spend and that we would like to leave. Instead of allowing us to do so, they told us that we needed to speak to yet another person about our “free gifts” which was really just ANOTHER pitch about some “special weekend pricing”. After 5 hours, I finally gave in and agreed, especially because I believed that this was an asset that would retain its value and that the resorts were exclusive. None of this was true! You can book rooms at these resorts all over the internet! Do not fall for their games!

Just found out the points I was going to use (30,000) would get me two nights in London. Then overnight they doubled it to 30,000. I’ll use the points but NEVER stay at a Wyndham affiliated hotel again.

In was on holiday in New York in 2016 when I was approached by some Wyndham representatives. They offered me a free breakfast in exchange for an hour of my time, which seemed reasonable, so I accepted. For over FOUR HOURS I was railroaded into making this purchase; I said no close to ten times, but they did not stop. By the end of this meeting, I felt exhausted and brainwashed so finally agreed to their demands. They told me that this was an equity investment, like real estate, that I could pass on to my heirs. Since I left that day, I have learned that this is nowhere near the truth. When I returned home, I began to learn about all of the lies that I had been told. Had they told me the correct cancellation period, I would have cancelled immediately, and I would not be in this situation. Instead, I have spent considerable time trying to utilize this as I felt that there was no way out. I have tried contacting Wyndham, but they will not help me. They are truly terrible.

When Club Wyndham offered us a gift card and lunch in exchange for our time at a sales presentation, we decided to accept. This was not 90-minutes as they told us, it was over half the day of the most intense bullying that I have ever experienced! They continuously told us that this was an investment that we could pass on to our children and that we “deserved” this and had earned the right to travel after raising our family. Yet, somehow, they neglected to mention any of the negatives of timeshare ownership. We were never told that reservations are very hard to get at these properties, that the maintenance fees would continue to increase year after year, or that there was a legal cancellation period for this purchase. Every time we asked a question, we were deflected. Why would they not answer our questions instead of shoving this down our throats? We feel like they took advantage of us due to our age and we cannot believe that a reputable company would allow this

In March of 2018 I was on a trip when I was approached by a Wyndham rep in the lobby of the hotel.  They offered the opportunity to attend a sales presentation over breakfast, which I accepted.  At this presentation, I was told the benefits of being owners with Wyndham.  The sales staff told me that I would be buying real estate that would increase in value and be a good investment.  They pressured me for hours into making a purchase; only showing me what the monthly payment would be.  The maintenance fees or actual cost of the purchase was never shown to me in detail.  Imagine my surprise when I learned of how much this would cost me long term!  Now, I can no longer travel or use this at all and do not foresee a time when I would feel comfortable doing so again.   It is ridiculous to me that such a large company would misrepresent people in such a way and be unwilling to help clients in these situations.

Last June I was in Las Vegas celebrating my partners birthday when we were approached by a WorldMark representative and offered several gifts if we were to attend a presentation. Since we were told that there was no obligation to purchase and it would only take 90 minutes, we agreed to attend. At this presentation, we were pressured for hours by the sales staff into making a purchase. No matter how many times we told them that we were not interested, they continued to push different offers at us instead of allowing us to leave. We were led to believe that this was a real estate investment that we could pass down to our children, so we decided to give into one of their offers. We found out later that they not only ran both our credit reports without our consent, but they also opened a credit line in my name without my knowledge! What kind of legitimate company does this? We tried to call the sales staff we met with to cancel this within the period allowed by law, but they never returned our calls or answered the phone. Now we are stuck in this purchase with no end in sight!

Half a star at best, any hotel that franchises with Super 8 San Bernardino should be ashamed, I will never use this hotel, the pictures online are so doctored up that they seem pretty comfortable...think again, the shadiest place ever!!! Trying to get a refund is ridiculous, I stayed there one night on Dec 17, 2020 and still no refund as of 1/17/2021???

Our experience with Wyndham Vacation Ownership has been terrible! We originally were offered a weekend stay for a promotional price, with the expectation that we would attend a sales presentation during our stay. We spent over 8 high-pressure hours in that initial presentation. They eventually wore us down when we began to believe that this was going to not only be a benefit to our lives, but also for our daughters in the coming years. For the past TEN years that we have been owners with this company, we have been subjected to this same pressure to make a purchase EVERY, SINGLE TIME we visit one of their resorts. The employees also call and harass us over the phone to make additional purchases, telling us that this will do things like lower our fees or improve the access that we have. Nothing that they have ever told us has been true. We caution everyone, do your research before agreeing to meet with anyone in their organization.

When we stayed at the Disney World property, we were asked to attend a short tour of the facilities. When the representatives started to discuss with us the benefits of Wyndham ownership, we told her that we already owned a timeshare, were extremely dissatisfied, and had no interest in purchasing another. We were told by Wyndham employees that they would refer us to a timeshare cancellation attorney to help us resolve our issues with our prior timeshare. This was our main reason for purchasing with Wyndham, however the alleged attorney that they referred us to was actually a total scam. Be careful of your interactions with this company.

We have been timeshare owners for over 25 years, however, Wyndham taking over the property we owned has been a nightmare! Since they have taken over, all we have seen is sky-rocketing maintenance fees. To make matters worse, they have changed the seasonality of our week, which has made it less valuable than it was in the past. We have reached out to them many times, but they never respond. It appears they are inflating the maintenance fees to force legacy owners to upgrade with them. Be very careful – we didn’t choose to do business with Wyndham, but we are still hurt by their bad business practices!

We left thinking that what we purchased was a great investment in our future and that we could refinance this to get a better interest rate. This is not an investment! When we attempted to refinance, we were told by the bank that this was untrue as it had no real value. Please be very careful in your dealings with this company! We wish we had been more careful and had insisted on time to review all of the documents that we were rushed into signing.

We also learned that not only were we paying more per month than we had originally been told, but they also signed us up for a credit card without our knowledge to charge part of the cost. Be very careful about accepting any free vacations from this company!

I have only had terrible experiences in every one of my interactions with Wyndham and their employees. Since the beginning, I have experienced issues with trying to use my membership to book vacation stays. When I mentioned this to your representatives, they told me that I simply did not have the right type of membership and were very quick to help me correct this, with an additional cost, of course. However, this did not help anything, now I just have a larger bill and still cannot use what I was sold. I am tired of trying to use this and want to be let out of this obligation. My attempts to resolve this with your company directly have remained ignored. Do not believe them!

We were first introduced to Wyndham when we were offered gifts to attend a presentation. Once there, we were in a packed room with no ventilation for over 5 hours. We were not interested in the rep’s talking points about supposedly affordable travel opportunities, but they just kept making different offers. It was then that they tricked us into taking out a loan for the purchase, reassuring us that our bank could refinance it to pay at a lower interest rate. Upon our return home, we found this wasn’t true. Plus, the “rewards program” they signed us up for was actually a credit card. We would never have agreed had we known they’d do that, or that they would constantly harass us by phone to buy more points. Don’t make a purchase with Wyndham that you’ll surely regret!

While on a visit to a winery, my friend and I were approached by someone offering vouchers for complimentary wine tastings for going on a “short” presentation. If only I had known this would have taken hours from my life, I would have avoided going, and would have never signed the contract I was tricked into by conniving salesmen misrepresenting the availability and savings this membership was supposed to provide. I cannot book anything in the time period I wish to travel, the points hardly cover my hotel costs, and even the gift card I was promised took months to arrive. After losing my job, Shell did not help and instead told me to find a buyer if I wanted out of my contract, knowing this would prove impossible. I have since written multiple times to representatives at Shell to get things straightened out, but I have yet to year a response. Avoid these scammers!
