When the jeans arrived I was very happy with them. The cut was great and they fit really well.

My issues are, firstly, I found them didn't last any better than any other jeans I had bought and they are multiples of the price.

I bought them mainly for the lifetime repairs and they do not appear capable of delivering adequately on this. Once I had a slot to return my jeans, it took nearly 6 months from my sending them off to receiving them back. When I asked about timescales by email, I would get promises of they would be sent to me soon, in the next week or so etc. Eventually Hiut stopped replying to me.

Soon after I received my jeans back they ripped again (not due to a poor repair, the repairs were good). Due to the time it took to get them.back before, I decided not to bother getting them repaired again.

Due to the repairs process I would not recommended the jeans nor buy them again.

The quality of your customer service is only equalled by that of your products. And you can quote me on that.

BRILLIANT - I had to use the free repair service after a very ungraceful stumble on a concrete path left my jeans with a 'grazed knee' - Hiut's Grandmaster Repairman sorted that out flawlessly + the turn-ups where they were showing signs of wear, these jeans are several years old (I'm not the original owner, they are my BEST EVER eBay purchase) they're aging wonderfully developing a lovely patina and they feel special every time I put them on. Thank you Joe@Hiut for patiently sorting it out and answering all my questions -

Had my 2nd pair delivered today (Tan / V Fit) and they are fantastic. Made exactly to my specs and they fit perfectly. 1st pair of jeans (18 months old, washed three times) is my go to pair for going out or just loafing about. Great story behind them as well.

I am so in love with my new jeans and will love them for years to come. Joe was so helpful helping me chose the right style, even sending me a pair to try for size. Now, I will be able to order my next pair with confidence and I just cannot wait to do so. if it helps someone else order some beautiful jeans it’s got to be good for you and the planet. It was a big leap for me and I am so glad I did it. Making the choice of one beautiful pair of jeans made in Wales that will live for many years over many pairs from a sweatshop is an obvious choice, but the ability to afford it and the mindset is quite hard. I am so glad I did and I will love them all the more for it.

The jeans are extremely well made. I had an issue with the fit of the skinny jeans as I have larger thighs. The customer service was outstanding. They recommend a different style, accepted my return and created a new order for the replacement which fit perfectly.

Firstly for the chat advice before I bought the jeans.

I haven’t worn jeans since I was in my early 30’s and a size 12, when I was hitting the European rockabilly scene. More than ten years later I still want to look stylish! Yet no jeans have flattered my figure in all that time.

Waistbands, can often be tight now im 48!
But….. If I order bigger sizes, I have a flat bum, so the clothing hips and bum shapes can often be too big to cater for the bigger waistbands.

I explained my dilemma to a chap at Hiut on the phone.
He explained why he was so confident in the Peggy for me! and agreed with my thoughts on the Aurelia having a wider bum and legs for my shape.

They arrived today! He was spot on with which style and size he felt would best suit my shape.
The Peggy is…… perfect! With a generous waist and longer than expected length, perfect for turn ups. Thank you chap!

Secondly pay attention to the photos of the style on the website and check your own shape against them. The product pics are spot on for the fit and shape too! (Turns out, t’is true what the chap said, whilst waistband is comfy, my bum as expected, is too flat for the aurelias to look as good as the Peggy’s)

This all goes to show why we should be buying from specialist makers like yourself. You know your products completely! And the quality is exceptional to boot!

Excellent repair on a favourite pair of jeans. Not just patched up but a proper sewing job that will give the pair a good few years to come. And all this for only the price if postage! Well done Hiut. Da iawn👏👏👍

I own two pairs of Hiut jeans - first pair bought in 2017, the second pair a couple of years later.

Supporting a business that makes its clothes in the UK, rather than abroad using cheap labour, is important to me. Yes, that makes them more expensive than some other brands, but you get what you pay for.

I loved the whole process of breaking them in for 6 months. And then washing them carefully (there is a LOT of info online about how to wash selvedge denim) and seeing all the wear marks starting to show. I've really bought into the selvedge denim way of life and have become a jeans bore!

Both have been sent for free repairs and returned to me looking amazing. The staff have been super friendly and helpful every time I have contacted them.

Hiut have asked me to take down the below review (marked original review). In particular they now say my product was not raw denim but partially pre-shrunk 100% cotton. That actually makes the dramatic shrinkage worse. My review is correct in its main points. In my experience Hiut jeans shrink a lot and Hiut are not as clear as they could helpfully be about this. I had some great jeans, I washed them in a reasonable way and I then didn't have jeans that fitted. Hiut agree on the reasonableness of the washing, after the hand wash instructions they say "If you don't have an area to hand wash your jeans, this is not a problem. There is nothing wrong with popping your denim in the washing machine". I could have lived with tight jeans I guess, although that would have been disappointing as they were a great tailored but not tight, fit before washing. I won't go around wearing jeans that are too short.

NB I never use a tumble drier. The jeans were washed inside out and put on a trouser hanger clipped to the ankles to dry naturally in a room at room temperature.

Hiut have to offered to receive the jeans & conduct an investigation. As they did not reply to my follow up 27th Feb email until they saw this Trustpilot post on 28th March, I had already passed the jeans to a friend who is 2cm shorter than me.

Their email responding to the original Trustpilot review said there was natural temporary shrinkage with 100% cotton products. I have other 100% cotton jeans and yes they do show this & loosen up after a few hours' wear. They don't shorten. I did wear the Hiut jeans (tucked into boots) for a day after washing. They remained too short & quite tight.

Hiut could offer much more guidance on how the fabric behaves and how to care for it. Hiut could give more guidance on how to buy the right size. Maybe they need different guidance for different products. Before and after photos even? This would give a clear choice on whether or not to purchase.

I was not given the correct information about care and shrinkage of raw denim jeans. The jeans were a perfect fitted fit on purchase. As advised, I left washing them as long as possible. I washed them on 30 degrees delicate. The label in them said 30 degrees. They shrunk a lot - shorter by about 2cm. When I complained, I was told I should have had a care leaflet sent with them. I was not. I looked at the website and yes, there's information about having to wash them in the bath. This was not there when I bought them - I don't have a bath so if I had known that I would not have bought them. I was told that they were designed to shrink by an inch in length. They were not over length when they arrived - if they were I would have queried this. It is bizarre that they don't use pre-shrunk denim so you can buy and keep them in the right size. It is ridiculous to have to buy something too big & wear it too big for ages then hope you can shrink it down to the right size. It's not the 1970s when we had to sit in a bath getting our legs dyed blue shrinking to fit.

I have several pairs of Hiut (my go-to) jeans.
Unbeatable quality, with a life-time repair guarantee - not that I've ever needed repairs - what's not to like?
However, my most recent experience has been exceptional. Buying clothes online is fraught, and it's lovely when you can rely on prior purchases to inform the correct size and fit. However, when I tried to order new jeans in the same size and style as a previous pair, Joe and his team intervened. The fabric I'd chosen was different, and therefore the handling was different. They strongly advised I size up to get the same fit as before. Dilemma! But no-one knows their product better than Hiut staff. I took the advice - and the new jeans are PERFECT!
This level of care & attention to detail seems so unusual these days, and it adds an enhanced layer of pleasure to the shopping experience.
