Ordered a colour match wood oil based…
Ordered a colour match wood oil based paint in the eggshell finish. The finish is clearly a gloss paint and definitely NOT eggshell, to me it seems I have simply been sent the wrong item but apparently not... Emailed customer service who just repeated the same email saying it would tone down in 2 weeks time.. a thick gloss paint?! They have refused a refund or return of the paint! Feel pretty ripped off by Decorating Centre Online and no solution offered whatsoever by the customer care! I am now having to take daily photos to prove this is a gloss paint! Will never use DCO again!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry that your paint is not as you expected. The Leyland Trade Oil Based Eggshell is initially quite high sheen when first applied this can be quite a shock, however as the paint has time to cure which for this product is around 14 days, the sheen level will come down the the eggshell finish expected 😊
I can see that we reached out to the paint manufacturer to help put you at ease regarding your concerns and their advice was the same as ours. From the images provided I can see that you have been sent the paint that was ordered, therefore we do not have the grounds to issue a refund as there is no evidence of product fault. I can see that we have left this complaint as open should you want to pick this back up with us following the 2 week curing time. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with.

Consistently brilliant and helpful
I’ve ordered quite a bit of paint from DCO over the last few months. Whenever I’ve had any questions (no matter how daft) they’ve been answered thoroughly, and when I was a bit confused as to which paint to use colour drench a room, DCO outlined my options, giving their recommendations as to what would be best for me. When I’ve ordered a colour match they didn’t have the code for they suggested an alternative that looked exactly the same to me. All the paint I’ve had has been great quality, packaged well and delivered quickly. I’m very happy with the products and friendly service, and would recommend DCO to anyone.

Amazing service
Amazing service! I've been following their instagram for a while, so when I decided I wanted to do some decorating I knew they'd be the place to go. I'd picked out a designer colour I liked but didn't know what kind of paint would be best suited. I sent a message on instagram and within minutes I had confirmation that the colour could be matched and the type of paint that would be best suited. I ordered and then it arrived next day securely packaged and the paint has gone on like a dream! The room looks amazing! Thanks so much to Decorating Centre Online for such friendly and fast service!

Not willing to resolve issues
Do not recommend as they are unhelpful in the event you have issues with your order.
They send me a bucket of paint base with no pigment and didn't want to offer a solution for replacement. They kept insisting that it was because I agreed to a different paint base from the rest of the batch... the fact is that when that particular bucket was put on the wall it went completely transparent which proves it had no pigment in it and it was just paint base. Really frustrating to deal with them as they kept going back to the same point, and said that they couldn't do anything for me. I was left with a bucket of base paint that is useless without pigment.
19/06/2024 - I went to a paint shop in town an took the bucket of "paint" to them and asked their professional opinion. They have confirmed to me that it was a bucket of paint base with no pigment. I didn't receive any refund or resolution from the seller, as I decided to give up chasing them and told them to keep the money. The seller also tried to take this review down by claiming it contained harmful or illegal content. I just wanted them to respect our transaction.
26/06/2024 - thanks for trying to remove my review now twice, claiming I was using " harmful or illegal content" before actually bothering with a response. I wonder what this behaviour towards an honest Client feedback means.
Anyhow, I still remain with a useless (?) bucket of transparent base at home which in my view is not a resolution to my problem. Unfortunately I don't have space in here to add my notes to all your points. I will say that sometimes people make mistakes, and the professional way to face these is to take responsibility and resolve the issue to the best of your capability... we all make mistakes. A label on a bucket of base could have been stuck by mistake, a bucket could have been misplace, or forgotten to be placed in the pigment mixer machine after being labelled, people get confused, the list goes on. What I find concerning was that, at no point in our conversation you have considered that you may have been wrong. Even after all the clear evidence I have provided you. Food for thought I guess.
Also, in regards to your resolutions neither myself or my colleague received your first resolution - discount voucher. As for the second resolution; you sent me a credit voucher which I tried to use it online and it didn't work. I followed up with you by sending you an e-mail asking if there was a problem with the voucher and the response to my e-mail was exactly as your response to this post with no clarification about the voucher. At which point I gave up on ever seeing a real resolution to my problem. Keep the money, you are welcome.

Thanks so much for your feedback, we are so sorry you feel you didn't have a good experience with us on this occasion.
I understand that there seems to have been some confusion as your concerns were brought up multiple times by both you and your colleague. It's possible that there was some miscommunication that have led to misunderstandings.
Reviewing the thread I can see were quick to act upon your concerns, came to a resolution with your colleague, and still tried to support you when this was raised again without clarity as to why the initial resolution was no longer suitable, and with our staff not being spoken to in the most respectful way.
In our original email thread, I can see we reached out to you to confirm the product you required had been discontinued, and we no longer had stock of the base you needed. We provided some options and you then requested we send a different base for your first coat. Sadly it doesn't look like this was communicated with your colleague, so they rang us for some clarity. Your colleague did mention the impracticality of using this which is why we suggested the resolution which he was very happy to accept.
When this was re-raised by yourself, you wanted confirmation on this having “no pigment”, which we sadly couldn't provide due to this not being true. The paint does have pigment as you can see by the label on the tin, it just won't be as much of a darker shade as white colours naturally don't need as much pigment. If you would like some further technical information regarding the exact pigment amounts for white shades vs a darker shade I would be more than happy to look into this for you!
I can see we worked to find a second resolution for you, despite us already providing compensation to your colleague, and reviewing the email chain you confirmed "I am happy with that. I am the Client and my Contractor was acting on my behalf, no one else will raise this issue again. Thank you for the resolution.' Although this meant we did have to offer compensation twice for the same issue, we were super happy to see this had all been resolved 😊
Sadly this was then raised a third time without reference to the original 2 resolutions. When we responded to this to enquire as to why the original 2 resolutions were no longer suitable and to see what else we could offer, I can see you then requested we close this matter. For transparency, your comments regarding us not offering any resolution or a refund, this was not the case. I understand as this was raised quite a few times by you and your colleagues, that correspondence may have been lost or missed, so it may be worth going back through the email threads for peace of mind, to see we did offer quite a few resolutions.
We always welcome feedback as it helps us to learn and grow as a business. As a result of this we will be working harder on our process for discontinued lines to ensure this has minimal impact on our customers, we are currently trialling a new system for this so hopefully we should be seeing some improvements very soon 🙌
There seems to still be a disconnect with a lot of the information provided in your review and what was actually discussed. However, I can understand how this information could have been lost or missed given this was raised by multiple people via multiple channels.
If you would like us to further look into this, or provide any clarity on the points raised please don't hesitate to reach out. In the meantime I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks so much for giving us a go regardless, and best of luck with your project moving forward 😊

Very hit and miss
I ordered 8 colour tester pots, which cost a lot. Expecting for one of them to be good for our room.
Unfortunately, one of the front runners was Little Greene's Silent White Pale paint, which we wanted formulated in Leyland. When it arrived and we put in on the wall and also on the Little Greene swatches, it looked a very pale yellowy/green. On the swatch, it's a very light cream off-white colour. When I raised this with DCO, they immediately claimed it was within their 10% variance, which is firstly impossible to tell from a picture, and secondly, simply not true. It is from a completely different colour space (green instead of cream) but they are insistent it is a match, and refused to attempt to reformulate.
I had an issue with the Slaked Lime Mid as well, which they came back with the same response, even though the paint they provided was far too warm for what should be a grey.
Basically, it's pot luck whether their formulations are accurate or not, but if they're not, then expect the response "it looks like it's within our expected 10% variance". To be honest, they'd probably say the same thing if I showed them a picture of fuchsia that was supposed to be green...
They have absolutely no intention on improving their colour accuracy, and won't admit any wrongdoing whatsoever.

I can see that you reached out to the team initially to query your colour match, when we asked for the required information for us to look into this it was never supplied meaning we couldn't begin investigating for you. We're happy to pick this back up with you.
I can see that the team remixed the new tin and found that the match was within our expected colour match variance. We sadly do not formulate our own matches these are provided to us from the manufacturers technical team who work in a lab and create the matches to the branded colour charts. Therefore we'd be unable to do any "reformulating" ourselves and the variance displayed is negligible, and for the team to reformulate a process that can take several months with no guaranteed outcome.
Our colour matching service is something we are incredibly proud of and we hold our manufacturers to a very high standard when it comes to matching, if we know there is a shade that does not colour match well we will not offer this, despite the manufacturer having a "match" because it doesn't meet our expectations. 💁♀️
We will always do our best to investigate an issue and get a resolution in place as quickly as possible! We're a small team and we're always striving for improvement, if we have made a mistake we'll be the first to put our hands up and we'll do what we can to put it right.
I can see you have ordered a few more tester pots since this review to hopefully find your perfect shade, and we hope this experience has been a more positive one! If there is anything else we can help with please let us know! 😊

Great company. Good reward system although sometimes a bit buggy and takes a while for it to update. Packaged well and nothing has ever been damaged in transit. Would recommend for most paint supplies.

I've used DCO quite a few times
I've used DCO quite a few times. The quality of the paint and wallpaper has always been exceptional but what keeps me an ongoing customer is their customer service. They have helped me picked paint colours by asking me questions and given me options to choose from. I wouldn't use anyone else now. Keep up the amazing hard work!

I can see we have been in touch in regards to this but once again we would like to sincerely apologise that the incorrect shade was sent. It is very rare that an error like this occurs but regardless we have spoken to the team about this to ensure more thorough checks are put in place. We are also trialling a new scanning system so this should eliminate the possibility for any manual errors 🙏
In our response I can see right away we offered a few different options to get this resolved for you including a replacement, or full refund via a collection from your home, neighbour workplace, safe place, or local pickup shop. You did also note you may have a use for this in future so we also offered a partial refund in case you wanted to keep this! For transparency, we would never expect our customers to go to any trouble to rectify a mistake we made.
I can see we have been working with you to find a solution that best suits your needs and a resolution has now been put in place 🙌
