My mistake rectified immediately!
I placed an order approximately one hour before the cut-off time for next-day delivery. I ordered a matt emulsion and an eggshell, both to be colour-matched. Realising I had put the wrong colour for the eggshell, I contacted DCO, who altered it with no fuss. I received both items the next day, and both perfectly matched the colours I requested. Customer service is always conducted with politeness and understanding.

Paint spillage
I ordered a few tins of paint, when they arrived one was damaged and the paint had spilt into the protective bag. I contacted customer services and very quickly they got back to me offering a replacement with next day delivery. The issue was resolved satisfactorily and quickly, I can’t ask for more

This situation arose due to a manufacturer issue, but we stepped in as a third-party to help facilitate a resolution. We clearly communicated what was required—an image of the serial number—but obtaining it proved difficult, which sadly delayed the process.
Despite the challenging communication, we remained committed to assisting in every way possible, even in less-than-courteous circumstances. Reviewing the threads it looks like your issue has now been resolved 😊

“In Stock” has no credibility
Ordered 20L of Johnstone's Perfect Matt in a custom colour for next day delivery - required for the weekend as we are decorating ahead of the floor being installed next week. Several hours later I received and email saying it was out of stock - which I did not pick up until just before 7pm meaning I was now not going to receive my order the following day
I asked them to select an alternative and get it sent out and again received an email saying they can’t select for me as they are none refundable (not really sure what that has to do with it - it’s a colour match so they are going to be as close as they’ll get
Their office is now closed for the weekend and I’m without paint. I’ve requested a refund as this is a poor show of communication - pick up the phone and call next time.

I can see that your order for a 10L tin of Perfect Matt was placed at 1:12pm and by 1:25pm we had emailed you to let you know that this base sadly was out of stock. These had been due to arrive on our delivery which arrived at 1pm but sadly these did not come in. We acted quickly to ensure that you were aware of this issue so that you could make an informed decision on your order. As our calls are not recorded we do communicate predominantly via email so that amendments and issues are documented.
I can see that we did offer some alternative suggestions with links to the products for you to take a look at but as we explained we cannot make a decision for you when it comes to purchasing paint, and as we did not receive a conclusive decision from yourself we were unable to proceed with getting your paint sorted.
We will certainly pass on your feedback to the team and we hope that if you decide to give us another try we can make your experience a more positive one.

Superb service
Have used a few times now mainly for paint. Recently our order arrived badly damaged with one tin totally unusable. I contacted customer services online, had a response within an hour, and a range of options provided including a full refund. We wanted the paint and the replacement was sent out immediately. For me, the test of customer service is what happens if something goes wrong - and DCO was exceptional. Will certainly use again!

Terrible experience. Sent wrong paint and then took 3 days to correct their mistake, whilst I had to pay for a painter and decorator to sit around. No compensation offered. Avoid.

Reviewing the email communications between us I can see that you flagged an issue with us on the 30th Jan, we replied to the email within 1 hour offering a replacement on next day delivery. As we did not get a reply to our offer to replace your paint, we could not proceed with this. As a small business all our paints are mixed to order and therefore we do require firm confirmation prior to mixing paints. Following up the next day I can see that we confirmed your replacement paint and sent this out on a premium weekend delivery to avoid any further delays.
We apologise again for any inconvenience or miscommunications.

Issue with samples
Ordered 3 samples from them because their website says "Tiny samples? Forget it. All our samples are full width and cut to approximately 30cm height, so you can get a proper feel for your perfect design." but what they mean is their own brand samples only, so they are charging for A4 samples that you can get for free direct from the supplier.

Poor colour matching
I ordered 6l of Johnstones colour matched to F&B Green Smoke. The colour match is significantly darker than the F&B colour and DCO will not issue a refund.
Bad experience all around. Time and money wasted.

To explain a little bit about how our colour matching works, our formulas are created in lab conditions and matched to the colour charts, ensuring consistent results every time. The tinted equivalent colours will be within a 10% variance of the colour chart. I can see that the team arranged to have these remixed and tested prior to them leaving us. These were found to be in tolerance to the branded colour chart.
As our colour matched paint is mixed to order we are unfortunately not able to accept returns on this. We do offer a range of colour matched tester pots so that you can try our colour matches before committing to a larger tin.

Great products with excellent customer service
I’ve made quite a few purchases from Decorating Centre Online and they’ve all been excellent. They stock a great selection of paint and equipment at decent prices and their deliveries always come promptly and well packed.
What really makes them stand out though is their customer service. They’re always happy to help and super knowledgable - much needed when you’re still learning and have a whole house to decorate! It feels like they really care about their customers, and their projects, which is very rare these days.

We ordered the kitchen paint bundle which is brilliant, it has everything we need and such good quality. The staff were really helpful and gave us suggestions for the paint colour as I wasn’t sure what colour to go for. Will definitely be using again and would highly recommend. Delivery was also really quick.
