I used Durham food for a few years and recently I have noticed much more larger bones in the raw food especially the lamb and other meat products my dog was having issues with passing the food. I have now switched to a different supplier which is much better quality.

Sadly greed has taken over this company.
A massive 56% increase in the product I buy from them from 2021 to 2024 and product is less dence with more water in it.
Amount needed to buy to get free
delivery has also increased.
Looking for a new supplier.

I thought I would purchase some treats for my dog whilst on holiday as know this company when being at our local store.

Whilst away I had a notification saying it had been delivered when checking with family they didn't recieve the item.

When checking my email it appeared royal mail had delivered to the invoice address and not the delievery address.

When emailing DAF customer service they apologies saying it was an error there end and they did not see the delivery address.

I asked could this be reimbursed or a new delivery sent out as we were on holiday. I had a picture of the delivery as the safe space was in the porch at the family members house as we don't have a porch we are street view.

They said they sent a driver to check a few days later to collect the parcel, but as we now live in a world where cars are not safe on our drives u guessed it the parcel was not there.

This was my first direct order and will not be using again as they will not reimburse or resend a order of £40 they want me to get in contact with the police get a crime number to report to them and RM for a error that they did.

It's a shame customer service has no part to play within this company when they were at fault.

I ordered 12 x 1kg bags of 'Chunky Free Flow tripe' costing £42.60 and didn't read these reviews, duh.
Well, the tripe is definitely NOT 'free flow' as claimed. It came as a frozen solid mass that took 4 hours to thaw enough to divide up into 3 meals. Once thawed the tripe is definitely NOT 'chunky'. It is watered mince.
I will be contacting the Advertising Standards Authority and Durham Trading Standards over the false statements on the packaging.
The delivery was good so I'm disappointed the product is so poor.

I would like to say what a wonderful company Durham Animal Foods are. It's such a pleasure to deal with them as they are all so friendly and give such good customer service both online, over the phone, out at shows and from their delivery drivers.

I've just had a delivery, on time and the delivery driver was very apologetic that I was missing 4 packs of one variety. No problem I told him, just refund for those. He left but then returned about 20 minutes later to say that he had found them on the van in a separate box. (I understand that they have new staff picking the orders and loading the vans back at HQ - accidents happen when people first start a new job). Now he could have just gone back to Durham North and refunded me but he came back to us instead. That's dedication and good customer service. 🌟

I've been using DAF over the last 4 years. I love serving their food to our 11yr old Westie and haven't had a problem with large bones pieces in it. She loves it and it seems to suit her.

I’ve used Durham foods for a few years and was fine. Recently I no longer recommend them as a raw food supplier.

Ended up paying just over a £1k vet bill because my dog got a bowel impaction due to Durham having a higher bone content than they are stating on the packets.

I called them to confront them about this to be told “well chicken does have a higher bone content” hmmm then why are you putting 10% bone on your complete meat meal labels then? It’s clearly higher than 10% isn’t it?

There is multiple reviews from other customers with similar complaints that go unanswered by Durham Foods on Facebook. Why aren’t you addressing this? Ignoring it doesn’t make you look good, in fact it makes you look guilty for miss selling a product.

I now get my raw food from a new supplier with no bowel issues.

My dog nearly died due to the high content of bone material in the raw food . He ended up very poorly in the vet hospital with a blockage in his large intestine which was full of bone material . He needed a general anaesthetic and enema .
This raw food is very dangerous and potentially could kill your dog .
My other dog last year the same issue I thought because he was small breed he wasn’t eating the bones so I changed to wet food .
I was wrong my dog this time that became very poorly is a large breed.
Keep away from this company they are adding ingredients that can kill our dogs
I am going to report them to the food standards and hygiene authorities and also to their company’s they are licensed by to sell this .
This company needs to be closed down and held accountable for their actions .

Gave them another try to see if they had gone back to the quality of a few years ago. Disappointed to have dogs get the runs on the food and they normally have cast iron guts. Pork, meat only looks like it's just minced lung and went straight through them. Chicken mince, meat only looks like minced gizzard, not the fillets it used to be. Would not recommend to anyone.

I’ve read the bad reviews and my experience is completely different. Yes, “occasionally” there are larger piece of bone but I just take it out. My dog loves it and is thriving on it, deliveries are always on time. I can’t complain.

I'm writing to you to share my disappointment with how your company has dealt with me finding a gun pellet in one of your Duck and Tripe Dinner Meals.

You offered to send a replacement batch to swap with the one I had here at home.

The delivery driver came but I then realised that the the wrong Dinner packs were loaded on the van, so we could not swap the "faulty" batch.

I gave the envelope with the gun pellet to the delivery driver and no one has bothered contacting me after that to either confirm receipt of my letter or to apologise for the wrong Dinner meals delivered.

When I first reported the gun pellet, I was offered Paw Points for the inconvenience but no Paw Points have been added to my account.

I have been a constant loyal customer of Durham Animal Feeds but I now feel your company doesn't care about its customers...

We have been buying direct for about 5 years. We usually bought about 4/5 boxes of raw salmon every 2 months.

Our dogs all love their food and would happily eat this. Then on our Februrary order we noticed that everything had changed.

We noticed that the new delivery had a different consistency and colour. When we put it down all 3 dogs refused to eat it. 3 Greedy dogs all refusing to eat it at the same time!

I emailed and asked if they had changed anything. Their customer service said nothing had changed and that no one else had complained.

The obviously either don't look here or ignore it and lie.

We have found ourselves having to mix the salmon with 2 tins of butchers to disguise it. 3 months after the order we still have 1 box worth of food left waiting to go in the bin.

Complete waste of money and very poor quality.

I have used this company for many years and spent many thousands of pounds this is probably because I shopped on the internet. I had the misfortune of contacting customer service Durham North and the female call assistant from sales is shockingly bad at her role within the company. A definite need for training or redeployment to a non customer contact role.

Ordered from this company for a while, spend thousands with them each year... they recently messed up an order and sent us the wrong food, they would not get the food we required for another week (which is too late for dogs on this diet) and also would not refund until the wrongly delivered food had been returned. Terrible customer service to a previously loyal customer.

My usual supplier recently priced me out with another price rise as i cant afford £15 a day feeding my dog so a friend recommended durham. The price was amazing so i ordered a huge selection (wish id read the reviews first) but quickly realised their labelling isnt accurate for bone content, both dogs are passing crumbly white chalk consistency and struggling to go. Ive gone back to my old supplier and now mixing durham with boneless from dogs butcher (50/50 mix) and my dogs still struggling to go currently. Surely this is illegal as false advertising? This is not 80-10-10 as stated and will be reporting to trading standards for investigating

My £40 order was sent to my old address which is two and a half hours away, I lived there over 3 years ago. I rang they said they would send me a replacement, then got a email they are not, I’m fuming will never deal with this company again.
Seems from their reviews a lot of people feel the same

I'm not sure if this will be posted I wanted to raise the point. I'll stick toy usual supplier. The dogs butcher. Really good.

Started using DAF pet foods stupidly from a recommendation from the raw food store I used. Found large pieces of blue plastic that was sharp and curved in the product. Also this is NOT 10% bone. The bone content is very high and has made my dog ill. I’ve raised this to the store and DAF. The store said the plastic issue happens from time to time as it’s from what the slaughtered animals have eaten….why? They should be cared for too not eating plastic. Seems like a totally rubbish excuse to me. They also said DAF is boney….but it shouldn’t be it’s quoted as being 80/10/10! In regards to my dog being ill this was dismissed. DAF themselves have not responded to me. Since looking DAF foods up I’m horrified to see how many people’s poor pets have suffered as a result of DAF’s raw food with many animals requiring emergency surgery. Please avoid and buy a reputable food for your beloved pets that won’t harm them as this product clearly does….not that DAF or their endorsed sellers seem to care.

I have used DAF for quite a number of years and buy various Items of food. I now find that the mince is quite sloppy and watery!!! The only mince that's not too bad is the beef tripe but the others are terrible. Lamb, Beef, Chicken or Oily fish are really sloppy with loads of run off when thawed. I will be looking for an alternative so after all these years, its goodbye DAF.

Very helpful staff and delivery drivers. I find the food to be good value and mix it with Royal Canin

I ordered 3 boxes of food and they made my dog sick.. he has had raw with no problem for 2.5 years. I tested them by feeding him alternative food for 3 days in which he was ok, then feeding one of those and he was almost immediately sick and was reaching for hours after. I repeated this 3 times once for each box ordered, he almost immediately threw up and was ill all night the second box and then had bright yellow diarrhea with the third... but fine with the alternative food inbetween. Trying to get someone to deal with it properly is impossible. I have kept one from each box which I am planning to have tested to find out what exactly they have done wrong with it.
