This company is charging an extra fee at car pick up even though the most expensive insurance option was already paid and was covered with no excess, the CRC still charged a lot of extra fees on pick up and they said it was to get rid of any excess. The car was booked through work and picked up by one of our employees. The CRC customer rep was very rude and said pay more or done get the car. Disgusting.

Therefore, there is no way for our representatives to know which services have been subscribed to with our online partners.
We remind you that it is the customer's sole responsibility to comply with the mandatory requirements for picking up vehicles at CRC.
It the absence of valid credentials for the pick-up, our representatives do everything possible to ensure that the customers can continue their initial plans of hiring a car by presenting alternatives.
It is up to customers to accept or reject the proposed alternatives.
We trust you will agree that we cannot deliver an asset with a minimum commercial value of around €30,000 without having a guarantee of active coverage in the event of damage or theft.

If I could give this company zero stars…
If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are absolute scammers. The guy at the returns desk racially profiles families and then charges whatever he fancies earning in commissions that day. Their customer service is beyond a joke. They are trying to charge €1000 for a mark that’s so small it doesn’t show up on a Photo. Avoid at all costs.

Complete Scam! - Awful Experience! Please save yourself the stress and book somewhere else! It seems as though all of this has been written many times before me, however here is my take.
The staff are very unfriendly, rude and cold.
Upon return of the vehicle, we were charged €340 for a small scuff on the plastic bumper. This did not happen in our rental and was extremely minor in any case. I couldn't prove it of of course and photos of the vehicle overall would not have shown this. The whole thing is a scam to claim back the value of the car. Extremely stressful experience.

Unsolicited UPDATE of my previous review.
I was asked for contacting CRC Customer Service.
To make a long story short, thanks by evidence I provided:
- They recognized my booking (oct.2024) was before their deductible costs increase (may.2025)
- They recognized their representative at the desk wrongly didn’t accept a different credit card for covering the damage excess
For these reasons they refunded me of the unwanted assurance purchase
To be honest, I didn’t expect anything by their customer service (as often happens) but, in this case, I can’t help myself but highlight how fair they are in making amends with their customer.

On eDreams I rented a car with WHEEGO company and an AXA assurance for covering deductibles costs of WHEEGO.
My booking in Lisbon was managed by CRC rental car company; so, my review is about CRC company
I was served by Tiago, I was told later, the supervisor of the Lisbon CRC agency. Here my experience:
1. I was charged of nearly 2euro per day for renting the automatic payment device (ViaVerde) that I didn’t ask for. It was mandatory and no mention of that anywhere.
2. I was pre-charged of 50euro for any highway payments would have been occurred by ViaVerde. Mandatory as well
3. I’d have expected 1400euro of deductibles costs (franchise) because it was mentioned everywhere ((voucher, terms&conditions…) and because the attendant Ines of the Lisbon agency assured me of that in a private message
4. Unfortunately, at the desk these deductibles costs (franchise) became 1800euro because of, he said, taxes (what amazing tax system they have! no percentage, commas or decimals… 1400… plus taxes… 1800 😊)
5. Moreover, he crystal-clearly warned me that the whole amount of 1800 would have been charged for whatever damage, even the smallest scratch (how difficult could it be getting refunded of 1800euro instead of 1400 by contract for a little scratch from a third-party assurance???)
6. Anyway, I recklessly carry on without worrying about his warnings, but I needed to use a different credit card with a higher limit than 1400euro BUT… no way, no possible, nada… because I’d already paid the unwanted device with another credit card. “Could you please do-over?”…“Impossible”… “Impossible???”…”Yep. No way! You can only buy our assurance for lowering the deductibles costs at 300euro and use the same credit card” …
7. Beggars can't be choosers… and I had to pay more than 200euro (+200%) more than expected for the device&assurance… pretty unfair I’d say
Despite of this unpleasant experience and regrettable service received, the car was brand new, bigger (and gas-hogger) than I booked for and the return very quick (I’m pretty sure because of their assurance subscription)
It’s pretty frustrating when you have to buy something you don’t want to, above all of that amount!
For that reason, I deeply believe in sharing honest and true reviews (on Google, Trustpilot and eDreams) based on own experiences to warn future customers of what they could face with

Suspicion of fraud on the return process
Dear Sirs, Sirs,
I hereby submit a complaint regarding the process of returning the vehicle rented through your company. CRC | Contrato de Aluguer PT 025210970
When the vehicle was delivered, I was informed that there were scratches on the right-hand wheels (front and rear), which, according to the employee present, would be considered as damage to be registered. However, I would like to express my complete astonishment at this situation, as I do not recall it causing any type of damage during the period of use. Furthermore, these risks are so subtle that they only become visible with very careful observation — almost using a magnifying glass.
The way the employee carried out the inspection made me uncomfortable and made me feel like he already knew exactly what to look for, as if the company was already aware of the damage. This behavior raises serious doubts about the fairness of the process and suggests that it may be a systematic practice, potentially aimed at activating external insurance (in this case, the insurance contracted through Rentalcars, and not directly with you).
I reiterate that I consider the process very strange and I deeply regret the way everything was conducted. I therefore request a rigorous and impartial reassessment of this situation, as well as a formal explanation of the criteria used to detect and attribute the alleged damages.
I await a prompt response from you and reserve the right to forward this complaint to the appropriate authorities if I do not receive satisfactory clarification.

I definitely do not recommend it
I definitely do not recommend it. A complete fraudulent company. They did not refund my deposit even though it was 10 days. I am sending an e-mail to contact them but they do not respond. During the delivery of the vehicle, they took 615 euros of payment under the pretext of a small scratch and a stain on the seat. They did not refund my blocked money of 2150 euros either. Stay away. Definitely stay away.
