Incredibly helpful and couldn't have done more
I bought a very large pot and a large olive tree that needed to be delivered. They could not possibly have been more helpful as it was not a straight forward delivery due to the size of the pot. It took three people to get it off the delivery vehicle and then round to the back garden and they were very careful not to damage anything. They then helped me to plant the tree in the pot as the tree was also very large and heavy. I cannot praise them enough for their help and consideration and the tree, in its pot, is now a major feature in my garden. Fantastic service from people who absolutely knew what they were doing.
bare root versus potted
I ordered four potted roses months ago and was told they would be delivered at the end of winter. They arrived. Three showed good signs of growth and life. The fourth showed no signs of life whatsoever. I was told it had only recently been potted. To my mind that means bare root. Weeks later the three good ones are flourishing. The fourth is at last showing tiny signs of life of about 2mm buds. It might be alright in 2026! I advise against buying potted roses they say will be delivered at the end of the winter as one has no idea of the condition of the roses. Buy bare root in the winter. I have had excellent service over the years from David Austen and will go back to them in the future.
Rose Replaced
I bought five Margaret Merril bare root roses but one didn't take. After two weeks I sent an email but a week later there had been no reply so I rang them, the person I spoke to was very helpful. I was asked to take a photo of the rose for their records and a few hours later received an email saying the rose would be replaced, a potted rose arrived the next day. I gave four stars because my email hadn't been answered.

Would have given 5* if I had received a quality rose the first time around but unfortunately I didn't.
I tried calling and eventually spoke to Chris who was in packing not customer service but he seems to be the only one who answers the phone .
He arranged a replacement rose to be sent which arrived quickly and was was finally something that resembled a bush rose that I paid a lot of money for .
Peter Beales reputation has gone down in my estimation and has only been saved my the proffesional, friendly and helpful way that Chris dealt with my complaint.

We bought two Flower Pots but within 8 days we discovered that most of the flowers had wilted and died. I called the store and talked to the Manager Chris who stated we cannot refund or replace the items without a receipt and gave no other options.
I discovered that you do not require a receipt if the item is faulty within 30 days of purchase…as long as you have a paid by bank card which we did. The manager I spoke to was very abrupt and should have said “ Let me see what we can do”. Im giving this review as I want to others to know that the Consumer Rights Act states as long as you can prove that you made a purchase through your bank..you are entitled to a refund or a replacement with 30 days of purchase. I wont be shopping there again as your Flowers are that good to be honest
Badly Diseased and Damaged
I ordered two bare rooted roses and paid extra for next day delivery. These were a gift for my wife. They arrived next day before the email saying they had been shipped!
Both roses are diseased and damaged, one very badly and will need to be burnt.
I have tried telephoning Peter Beales multiple times and just get a recorded message. I have sent emails with photographs to which there has been no response.
This is not what you expect from the home of the 'Worlds Finest Collection of Roses' claiming 'Award Winning Quality'.
I shall send the photographs to The Royal Horticultural Society and Monty Don and see what they have to say about Peter Beales rose quality.
I would not recommend Peter Beales Roses or any aspect of my atrocious experience of them.

I order these items about 6 months apart starting in 2023 . Both the potted roses arrived with disease , and it’s no nearly two years since and it’s not been very rewarding . If they both struggle this summer I will be taking out the ground and throwing away . The standard rose is very well but it should be for £80😂 just not as fragrant as the description though it should be very fragrant but it’s not lol .

Ordered some bare root roses over the weekend, and to my surprise they have shown up today. Very well packed and excellent quality. I was a bit sceptical after reading some of the reviews on delivery times but my experience was good. Will definitely use again.

I ordered 2 x Macmillan Nurse bareroot roses on Sunday and I got the delivery on Tuesday! Just 2 days, well done. The roses were in good condition and well packed. This is my 3rd order from Peter Beales and I love them!
Bare root order never dispatched
Purchased a bare root rose online which showed 30 plus in stock. After emailing to establish when it was being dispatched was told it would be sent by the end of the week commencing 2/12. Chased again 7/12 and was told 11/12 that the order was being processed. Emailed again 3/1 and on the 6/1 was told they were out of stock. The rose was a Christmas gift so hugely disappointed with how the company operates. To go from over 30 in stock, to being dispatched to out of stock means I will never purchase from them again.
Appalling customer service
Bought an available bare root rose on line for a friend who'd just lost their mother. 3 weeks later heard nothing. Rang up, full of excuses which were clearly not true to then be told rose was no longer available. If i hadn't rung would they have even bothered contacting me? Not confident they would! Not the service i expect from this company and will defintely not be using them again. David Austin will get my business in future

Ordered Proper Job rose (and Louise Clements) one and a half months ago. After an unanswered email as to when I could expect to receive my roses, got a call yesterday telling me Proper Job is out of stock - although over 40 plants were showing in stock at that time of my order. The company either grossly misrepresents their stock on the website or don't process their orders correctly. I complained but the person on the phone was not even phased. They only wanted to know if I still wanted the other rose. It was delivered today, one stem broken and just hanging on, had been picked and put like that in the bag (not fresh damage from transit). Proper Job still shows in stock on their website. Very disappointing experience, will not buy again from this company, they couldn't care less about their customers. By comparison I had stellar service, quality and timely dispatch from David Austin.

Strong and healthy rose
Ordered a Whisky Mac rose for a friend in November. Delivery was quoted as the following week. Poor weather delayed delivery - an update might have been helpful. However when the rose arrived it was a strong and healthy plant which should thrive. The packaging was protective and the courier handled it with care. I would not hesitate to buy further plants from Peter Beales.

Peter Beals roses Trading under Bell…
Peter Beals roses Trading under Bell brothers limited. Placed an order on 24/11/24 as stated my bare root rose bush was in stock. No word for dispatch by 9/12/24 despite completing an online contact form. Tried calling the number listed and was given several options including the restaurant. The options function did not work and the line went dead. Paid by PayPal who reimbursed my payment after explaining I had not received the product. Dodgy company.
Update on 16/12/24- So having raised a dispute through PayPal and emailed address listed on Paypal for PB roses received a phone call from Peter Beales trading company. Tried to explain lack of communication (not wholly convincing). Explained that due to weather roses couldn’t be lifted out of ground earlier but were in stock. Mine was ready to dispatch and did I still want the product. I said yes and was received 12/12/24 I explained I have now not paid for said product as was reimbursed by PayPal so now waiting to see how that is being dealt with. Tried to inform PayPal of situation so not sure of status. However I do have the rose bush. Have upgraded to 3 stars from 1 star as once dispatched received good communication from DPD on behalf PB roses on dispatch and delivery. I also received an email reply regarding the contact form I sent on the 6th Dec almost a week later on the 12th Dec regarding my order.
Further update, I did receive a response on the 9th Dec to a different email address that I hadn’t picked up on..I explained I had now received the rose but not paid for since I was reimbursed. They have made a goodwill gesture for my inconvenience and are not charging me. So resolved very amicably. I think they need to improve their systems but otherwise have supplied the goods and made it a freebie.
Almost two months and no roses
Almost two months since my payment and, in spite of my having emailed, no roses have arrived . . . only messages with excuses and an unattended telephone.
Meanwhile roses that had been ordered from David Austin, Harkness, etc. have arrived within a few days.
All very poor, it seems that Peter Beales are no longer the people to buy roses from.
