Amazing !
What can I say, from the service to the fire itself i couldn’t be happier. The quality of work is second to none. The care taken when carrying out what really is a messy job the house was left perfect. We were talked through every step and felt confident we knew exactly what we were getting and the time taken afterwards to demonstrate the fire and explain how to light correctly was just a lovely little extra. I really couldn’t have asked for a better company to use. Would recommend highly !! Amazing how it can transform a room !!

We've had work done by The Cheshire Stove shop over the past 10 years or so ... installing a new wood burner, replacing a hearth, installing a chimney liner, and also one of their lovely Reis gas stoves. Great guys to work with, good aftercare, can't fault them and would recommend to anyone. Thanks Martin and team.

Owner needs to learn customer service from his staff and can’t take feedback
I asked Cheshire Stove Shop for advice about cleaning hearths. I was recommended a product that was pasted on then pulled off when dry. I agreed to this as well as chimney sweep. The customer service to arrange this was excellent and the engineer was very friendly and knowledgeable. However, when he came back to remove the product it hadn’t been very effective which was apparent to both of us. The guys worked hard to rectify the issue and cleaned the hearth using my sandpaper and a razor blade. The product was very expensive so I contacted the shop to give feedback. I was disappointed that I had paid highly for a specialist product when the solution was the work the guys put in. I would not be writing this review if the owner had not been instantly defensive and rude. This also seems to be a common theme in other reviews. The team are great, the owner seems to be a liability to his own business. Word spreads mate! Good luck.

Stressful and very poor
This has been a nightmare from start to finish. I instructed this company to remove an old fireplace and expose the brick around my existing fireplace, reinstalling and servicing my existing wood-burner. The job went wrong after two days when I raised what I regarded as minor concerns with the work carried out. I thought this would be resolved easily but I was met with aggression and the blame was put squarely back on myself. Poor workmanship led to the permanent marking of the underlying brickwork of my fireplace. In addition the people carrying out the work covered my house in soot, each day I returned to a home where all surfaces were covered in a black layer. Again i was met with hostility when I raised this, the company suggesting I was making this up. Finally they admitted that they had dragged the old flue out through my living room rather than out of the top of the chimney which caused the mess. There then proceeded several weeks of inaction, leaving me with a half finished fireplace and a room covered in soot unable to be used. Only with the intervention of a third party did they agree to finish the job which was finally completed a month later than planned. Rather than arrange a cleaner and decorator they simply offered me £500 off the bill and asked me to sort it out myself. The problems continue and even through payment has now been made more than a month ago, they never acknowledged payment and I have still not received any certificate of compliance from HETAS. The stress of battling this company from start to finish has been ridiculous.

After the lengths we have been to, to try and complete your job to the highest standard and 100% to your liking, I am somewhat amazed at some of the comments and wording chosen above.
As this page is viewed by our potential new clients, I would like to address the points raised and confirm exactly what happened in each instance, as there seems t be quite a bit of information that has been omitted.
I agree completely, that there was an issue with the job, and whilst this is regrettable I would like to confirm the this is absolutely not the norm, and feel we have absolutely bent over backwards to not only rectify but also compensate you for this issue.
As we have discussed on many emails, the permanent marking to the brickwork was not as a result of poor workmanship as suggested, it was as a result in a change to the specification of the installation mid install. Unfortunately the request to remove all of the plaster from three sides of the chimney breast after the installation had already started, meant that areas that would not normally have been exposed ended up being exposed. Had the original design that was agreed in writing been kept to, it would never have been an issue.
The old liner did indeed have to be removed through the room, but this was not a decision that was taken lightly and it was only done after numerous hours of attempting to remove the old liner from the top had proven to be physically impossible.
Unfortunately when a liner has been installed for over five years and not swept once in that time (should be done at least annually), the weight of all of that soot in addition to the weight of a 12m liner made it impossible to drag all of that weight up to the top of the chimney. Coupled with the fact that the original chimney was not swept prior to the original liner being installed, the only option was to bring the liner through the room, and try to contain the soot as best as physically possible using a dust extraction system and industrial vacuum cleaner.
Once this was completed, our engineers spent a great deal of time cleaning the room and removing any dust / soot that had settled prior to leaving the site late on.
I accept entirely, and have agreed in writing that there clearly was some soot in the room, I can only assume that this had settled after the first cleaning session, and promises were made the following day that this would be rectified at our cost.
We agreed to finish the job the same day i returned from my annual leave, and having checked through the emails, I can see that we contacted you on no less than 8 separate emails to try and arrange to come back and ensure the room was 100% clean and soot free.
As a gesture of good will, you were provided with an additional brand new hearth and a second liner at our cost, we even carried out additional works and finished intricate and decorative plastering (required due to the mid install change in specification) that was not covered by the original quote.
In an effort to try and make sure you were completely happy after the installation was completed, I offered to send back my team of fitters to clean, I offered to arrange for a team of professional cleaners, i even offered to arrange for a professional decorator to come and paint the room for you. All of these offers were met with either disapproval or inconvenience.
In light of these numerous failed attempts to organise these offers and as a final measure to to try and ensure that any inconvenience had been more than compensated for, i made a suggestion that I reduce the cost of your bill by a considerable £500 which you confirmed by email on 25th June:
"That will be absolutely fine. I think that is probably the best way to resolve this as well."
Clearly this is not just asking you to sort it yourself as suggested.
Finally with regard to your point about the HETAS certificate, yes you have not yet received this and as confirmed via email prior to you leaving this review the HETAS online registration system is and has been undergoing planned site maintenance from the 18th-25th July. During this time it has not been possible to register or check any previously registered installations.
You were sent confirmation of this information on 23rd July and as of today 12th August the site is still down and not operational.
Whilst we do accept that this was a very rare occasion where things did not go perfectly (due to circumstance predominantly out of our control), we do feel that we did under the circumstances everything within our power to resolve and appease the situation.
First class service and products
The Cheshire Stove Shop have been very impressive throughout the process of researching, purchasing and installing my stove. I have been enjoying my Rais Viva L 100 wood burning stove for over two months now and it is wonderful.
My wife and I visited the showroom in Macclesfield several times whilst researching which stove would be best for us and Martyn and Nick were professional and helpful, without being pushy, every time.
The stove is fitted in a new extension to my home, which was partly constructed during Martyn's survey. I told Martyn the intended location for the stove and, after some thought, he actually suggested a better location for the stove which saved money due to the shorter flue required.
Alf and Jed installed the stove and flue back in February and were polite, informative and respectful to my house throughout, as well as doing a first class job.
I would recommend visiting The Cheshire Stove Shop to anyone considering a stove or related products in the future and I thank them for the great service I have received.

Great job from start to finish
Great job from start to finish. Took time to ensure they understood our requirements and made sure that the stove was the one best suited for us. The fitting was done very professionally with the minimum disruption to the room and we were left with a fantastic centre piece.

Excellent service from start to finish
Excellent service from start to finish. Would highly recommend The Cheshire Stove Shop. Our new inset log burner looks fantastic; we received good advice in the showroom on the various products available and their benefits. The installation was efficient with minimum disruption, the team were very courteous and provided useful advice on future usage.
